Aug 14, 2012I am running a dual monitor setup with my TV hooked up via HDMI to my laptop.
Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.

Windows 7 home premium 64-bit

Dual Monitor Issue, Secondary Monitor Is Undetectable
Jan 6, 2010I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.
I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.
In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.
When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.
I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get

Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected"
I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.
Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.
Windows 7 Not Recognizing Second Monitor For Dual Monitor?
Jul 4, 2011This computer is running an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. It does support dual monitors...(I've had dual monitors active on this card before, but never on Windows 7.) But since installing windows 7, I can't even get it to detect the second monitor. I want to run the setup with the CRT as the primary monitor and the HD as the secondary.

Oct 21, 2010I recently had an older HP Pavilion Media Center m7760n Desktop PC rebuilt. The old power supply fried the motherboard so I need to get a new power supply and motherboard. Here are my current specs.
Mainboard : Asus P5QPL-VM EPU
Chipset : Intel G41
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2133 MHz
Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
Hard Disk : WDC (1000 GB)

As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard.The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port.When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?
Dual Monitor Desktops In One Monitor?
Feb 3, 2011I'm using a television (32p) as a second monitor in extended mode so that I can watch a movie in the TV and play a game in the monitor (this was my main goal). Monitor and TV lays in two different ambients, both connected to the same pc, one by normal VGA cable and the other by HDMI. I managed to differentiate the audio output so that VLC player sends it's audio to the HDMI (so that only the TV plays it) and the rest of system sounds, media players and games outputs to the speakers (basically only the VLC audio is directed to another output device). I reached my goal so that I can watch a movie fullscreen in the TV and play a game in the monitor fullscreen too without any interference from one another (nor audio or video).
The thing is, because I have the TV in another ambient I can't actually see what's going on in it, as I just "throw" the VLC window to the TV from my main monitor. And here's the question: There's a way to see the TV's desktop in my monitor? Without having to set it as main monitor so to not really switch between desktops.. The perfect thing would be if I could see the TV's desktop in a window like in remote desktops applications.
Get A Broadband Monitor Not A Network Monitor?
Sep 27, 2011I have AT&T DSL and it just drops out, I have a 2 wire router and the DSL and Internet lights will flash red when it drops, I have had this problem for almost a year and AT&T will run a useless test and tell me everything is fine. I have searched for 3 days trying to find a Broad Band Monitor to let me know when it drops and for how long, also how many times while I am at work, or just not on the PC.

Nov 20, 2009I have two computers that are running Win XP Home and one that is running Win Xp Media Center Edition. Will I have any problems upgrading the Win Xp Media Center Edition?
Currently I'm trying to upgrade the system with Win Xp Home. It has a Gigabyte AMD AM2 Socket (GA-M57 SLI-S4) motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+, 4 GB of ram and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
I ran the windows 7 upgrade adviser on the computer and then someone suggest I also run the vista upgrade adviser as well. On both it is telling me that there is a problem with "Windows Aero Support". I've seen lots of posts stating it will run on their video card but I have not seen anything on mine and need to know if I can upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without a problem. My video card is a NVidia Geforce 7900 GTX. Does anyone know if that card will work with Win 7?
Then also it is telling me that my D-Link DWA-130 Wireless USB adapter is a problem. I went to their website and they have Vista drivers but not Win 7. Someone suggested not downloading the D-Link drivers but downloading the vista drivers and that it would work. I have little knowledge regarding Win 7 and therefore didn't know if this was good advice or bad advice on downloading the vista drivers. Is anyone here using this wireless adapter successfully with Win 7?
Last it mentions that it is not compatible with the Creative Game Port. I don't know if this is something that is downloaded with my Gigaabyte motherboard recovery disc. I don't think it was something I installed but not sure. AS far as I know it is not something I'm using so it doesn't matter if it isn't compatible (at least I think it's not). I didn't know if anyone knew about this.
I'm hoping anyone that has experience with any of this hardware will let me know if it is compatible with Win 7 before I upgrade it only to find it is compatible to upgrade.
How To Link Computer To TV

I can get you tube on the TV so the link with the router seems to be OK. My computer is wifi to the router. How do I get the computer to recognise the TV? When I link them up I plan to play a slideshow.

I have AT&T DSL and at the most inconvenient times I get sent to an AT&T page that states " The Broadband Link is Currently Not Available" It has a reset button at the bottom but there is no need because I can wait a moment and refresh and it will say problem solved please close the browser. This has the ability to cause lost work.I have read alot of forums blaming everything from the wiring to the phone lines in the house to the hardware, anyhow everything on this house is Wifi so I don't know if this problem persist over hard line but I assume it does because others have complained of it.

Aug 26, 2009Im hoping someone can help me with my wireless issue. I have a D-link DWA 120 usb adaptor connected to a new Windows 7 RC (x64) build. The problem is that I am unable to get the darn thing to work.
First of all when I plug it into the cradle it does not even blink. Plugged it directly to the PC and still does not light up. Even though it appears in device manager as "!USB WLAN device". When I try to update the driver automatically it says "Windows could not find driver software..". I then try to specify a location but that returns the same error above.
I have tried to run the setup in compatibility mode as per the instructions I found on this site and although the installtion appears to complete successfully, I still dont have it working.
D-Link DWA-552 Problems
May 4, 2010I have a d-link x-treme router and internal pci card. It worked great for about a year and today it can't find any networks. I tried disabling all the other network adapters like the Ethernet and Bluetooth, but that didn't work this time like it did with vista.
I have also tried having windows repair it and it couldn't. I disabled and enabled my adapter, no good. I know it's not the router because I'm using my iPod touch to type this message. My Mom isn't having any problems with her laptop connection either.
I looked into it and have found that I'm not the only one who has been having problems, but so far, no one is sharing the solution. All I have heard is that is has something to do with the driver. However I haven't updated anything and it has been working fine for two months.

Jan 19, 2012I've got a user that has a laptop with two external HP monitors. One monitor is connected via VGA connection to the laptop - the other is using an HP Display Link adapter over VGA and/or DVI. The screen that is connected to the Display Link adapter keeps stalling. He will move Internet Explorer over to that screen, try to maximize the window, and it freezes, but if he moves another window, like Windows Explorer over to that screen on top of it then Internet Explorer will start to respond.
Things I've tried: updating drivers on the integrated graphics, updating drivers on display link adapter, replacing display link adapter, changing usb ports, changing refresh rates on the monitors, and alternating between DVI and VGA connection on the Display Link adapter. Oh, and also disabling Windows Aero.

It never asked for any permissions, like it did under the other account.I searched and found others with somewhat similar issues, but no direct solution.I guess Windows 7 blocks it for the regular user, but how can I authorize it? May 17, 2011Not sure what happened, but starting this afternoon, Explorer 9 (released version via automatic update) will not open a link in a new tab, nor will it open that line into a new explorer window.Looked at multiple complaints and fixes for this, none worked (including the scripts). recent automatic windows 7 update to "allow further updates", I used firefox for the first time - note did not set it as the default, there was a java update and an adobe update. This machine is windows 7 sp1, completely updated 64bit home premium system. Turned off all the add ons, restarted - didn't fix it. Tried the script for the same problem, that didn't work. All the resetting has done, is removed the tool bars I like to use and it still doesn't work.

The windows 7 driver database don't have my driver, although I had some success installing other drivers with similar chip-set and passes instal process (realtek), but card simply doesn't work, even when windows say that card is installed successfully.

Symbolic Link Across Drives

I am trying to make a hard link to a file on a RAM disk, but I get the error
"The system cannot move the file to a different disk drive."
I can't make a directory link to the RAM disk because I cannot fit all the files in the original directory on the RAM disk. I need to make a couple links file-to-file.
I am trying to use the command
mklink /h lichking.mpq j:lichking0.mpq
like that. I would be very grateful if someone can come up with a solution to this problem!
