Windows Event Logger Not Loading

I have been having some issues with my PC randomly shuttting down. It would always turn back on straight away however today it would not, although i realised my PC was on carpeted flooring witch may have blocked the PSU fan, and what you know it turned back on later, whether heat was the issue i cant be certain. Anyway going back a week or two i COULD access my event viewer and i think it was error 41, something about the kernel loosing power unexpectedly. I rang CCL, the company who supplie the parts, and they said the would replace it, but they would do tests on the PSU, but i cant be certain it is the PSU.

Basically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Might be nothing to worry about, but I did notice the "Harmful" hazard symbol on the bottle?

When I put my computer in hibernation, sometimes when I wake it, it hangs at the user select screen, or it just shows a black screen. Sometimes I can reset the computer after it has hanged, and try again resuming from hibernation, and many times it will work after a couple of tries. Other times after resetting I won't get the prompt to try again with resuming (the other option is to delete hibernation data and reboot the system) but I will get the usual screen that says that Windows was not shut down correctly (with all the options for safe mode, etc). If I cannot resume and I get the screen with safe mode and all the other crap, I finally log in I get a notice that there was a critical error, in the details I see BlueScreen and other data, but I actually never get a blue screen. In the dump folder, there are no dmp files related to the hibernation hanging.
Anyway, when it happens, I see several Event 18 WHEA-Logger in the event viewer, about 6 of them every time. What's weird though, is that I literally have NO problems with this computer other than this. The only times it hangs is when I resume it from hibernation. I can play games or run stress tests with or without overclock and the system is 100% stable. But there is some problem that prevents it from resuming from hibernation correctly, so every time I use it is basically a gamble because it has like 50% chance of working.I tried EVERY SINGLE solution I found with google related to hibernation problems, and it's still there. I even formatted and reinstalled Windows from scratch, and it's still there. I'm positive I updated every single driver for every hardware I have and nope, no solution.I know the WHEA error is related to the hardware but like I said, everything works PERFECTLY once the system starts up properly, or when it resumes from hibernation properly. When trying to invoke my friends e-mail program (Juno) we get the following error: Fatal Exception: A fatal exception has been detected at Ex::Logger::log (,Logger.cpp:41) Caused by: Can'tOpenLogFileException: Can't open log file "C:ProgramData|JunoISPExecExceptions.xlg", open mode 18 Caused by: ErrnoException : Call to fopen failed with errno (13) "Permission denied" Click OK to Exit When we do click OK we get the Juno program, but when clicking on "Get Mail" we get a Runtime error with no code. If we select the Browser tab we also get a Runtime error. The program just will not access the Internet. MS Internet Explorer works okay. We have reverted back to an earlier restore date for Windows 7, have uninstalled/reinstalled Juno, copied two complete earlier Juno Folders (Program & Data) and all to no avail. Juno techies are at a loss so we are at a stand still.

I have a Dell laptop that freezes one out of every 6 or 7 boots. This includes reboots and resume from hibernate. In both cases the system ALWAYS boots fine on the next attempt.I have yet to find a tool that will give me a bootlog ala WinXP so that I can see where the previous boot failed. I tried running a trace, but the trace doesn't seem to complete until the system properly boots, and the trace doesn't show which driver hung the previous boot attempt. It only seems to show the trace from the current successful boot. This used to be a basic function in XP. Does anyone know how to achieve a detailed text bootlog for boot and/or hibernate?

Been using Microsoft products since DOS, all incarnations, never had so much trouble with any as I've had with Windows 7. After fixing a multitude of errors I'm finally one away from a clean event log. Rant over!
From what I can gather it's something to do with the file size being too small and that editing the DWORD in registry may solve the problem just want to confirm before I do.

Problem:
Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.
Shows as
Level: Critical
Source: Kernal-Power
Event ID: 41
Task Category: 63
I show 20 of these crashes so far and I just built the system yesterday. I need help in determining what could be causing this. The motherboard? Old Videocard? Windows 7? 64 Bit platform? Any thoughts?
I just built a brand new i7 920 System.
Specs:
i7 920 ( Stock Speed )
Asus P6T SE Motherboard
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
Power Supply Antec 750W Modular PSU
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS 10X Extreme
Samsung DVD burner
Seagate 1TB Drive 7200 RPM's
RAM: Kingston Hyper X 6GB of DDR3 @ 16000MHZ ( stock also) KHX1600C8D3K3/6GX
All parts are brand new except for the videocard which is a NVIDIA Geforce 7300 GS

Just installed Windows 7 fresh on a new intel 320m 160gb. After i type in my password at the login screen windows hangs for about 15 - 20 seconds on welcome with the moving circle. Total boot time is about 40 - 50 seconds. I've checked the event log and an event 100 and event 200 show up at every boot and shut down but it does not tell me what process is causing this. I've tried a clean re install of windows 7 with a non sp1 and an sp1 disk and get the same results. I used windows boot or starup repair and it said something about an audio device? So i unplugged my Asus xonar but im still getting the same hang time on welcome. So far nothing is plugged in the computer except for mouse keyboard monitor and ethernet cable. I'm on a home network with one computer. The setup is gigabyte z68x ud3h b3 G skill 16gb ram or now 8corsair 800ax psui7 2600kgtx560I've installed plenty of windows 7 on many intel ssd's (mainly x25 m) and this is the first time ive seen this slow of a boot time and its especially odd that it gets hung up on the welcome screen. I've tried searching fora

One particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.

After trying to investigate why my PC resets itself occasionally I have come across some logs in the 'events' section of Windows. Warnings - mostly DNS Client Events Errors - Service Control Manager/BugCheck/S channel/ Critical - Kernel-Power
Each of these types comes with a short description of what the problem was, how do I actually go about rectifying all these?

Alright this error isn't causing me any issues I just noticed it when I was going to check the log file of my recent disk check, and it pops up a few times and from googling it some people say it can be from a virus.I just did all my full scans and nothing showed up, what exactly is this error from and should I worry about it?lso under general of the error it says Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM__InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace //./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

Is it possible to run some sort of script / program when say a user defined event occurs. I know most OS'es have some sort of event triggering mechanism but getting at it is the problem. This sort of stuff is second nature in Linux but how to do it in Windows? It must be possible --for example you can set the system to play sounds on a whole series of events such as when Mail arrives or when you start / finish navigation. This says to me that there must be some sort of event triggering mechanism -but whether it's acessible via an API? I don't really want to do a whole load of C++ -- probably wouldn't know how to anyway --

I vaguely understand what the Event Viewer is but I do not have the slightest clue as to what the "events" mean. First I open event viewer then I click Administrative Events and it says that 199 events were found. Most of them are warnings but quite a few are errors. The warning that constantly showing up the most is Gigabit Network Connection Network link is disconnected. Another Warning that has popped up 4 times in a row was Request to physical disk 0 has timed out. The most recent error said that the application specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM server application with the CLSID. What does this all mean and should I be worrying?! I am so unbelievably concerned and confused as this has been my first computer build and I know little on the subject

I looked at my specific manufacturers toolbox to see details about the drive and I noticed that it has already accumulated over 5 billion writes so far. This thing is a little over a week old. So then I'm looking at my event logs and I'm thinking that every single one of these entries is a small write here and there and EVERYWHERE and it just never stops!! Then I tried to move the logs to my D: drive by modifying the settings within Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and the major ones did move there, but then there are over a hundred different other log categories under windows and there were no group policy settings for those. I was inspired to start this thread by another thread regarding clearing all those log files with a simple bat file. That conversation is here http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19411_102-378338/delete-all-event-logs-at-once-in-windows-7/ They came up with a .bat file that does clean them all out with one swoop. I am not good with those things and I was hoping that modifying something small would enable those certain files ending in .evtx to be moved to a new location and registered within Windows. Otherwise it's a huge amount of time going through each one to change the location from within the Event Viewer.

Some of my Windows sound scheme sounds do not play. In the sound scheme settings, under Program Events ,regardless of sound scheme selected, the Sound events for Windows DO NOT play, but sound events for Windows Explorer, and every single other application, DO play. When I click Test, the sound always plays, but in practice, never does. This only happens with the sound events under the Windows category everything else plays fine. Ive tried changing the sounds around (using different sound files), and its not the sound files themselves, my sound drivers, or anything like that. Ive tried checking the registry, and that seems to be set up correctly. Ive tried creating a new user profile, and it has the same problem. If you redirect me to a thread about similar problems, chances are, Ive already read it if its easily found by a Google search. Not everyone has had the same exact problem anyway (where it plays when I click Test and only the Windows events are affected). Please dont tell me to re-format, re-install, or repair Windows.

I have a FUJITSU LIFEBOOK LH531 (Intel Core i7-2640M CPU @2.80GHz, 8 GB RAM running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64).Since 2 days the notebook has become too slow. The boot process is now taking 2-3 times longer. After boot, opening any program takes ages. Even when I click on START, the menu takes time to appear. I did not instal any new hardware or software when the problem started. Also I did varous virus/malware checks, nothing detected. But when I looked at the event log of my notebook - there were so many errors & warnings (see JPG attachment) - and this is affecting the performance.

Whenever I launch Event Viewer, I get this message. Ditto when I try launching Computer Management. I sometimes get a message about Adding a snap-in to console. But it never works. I ran SFC SCANNOW and it fix some stuff requiring a restart and is running clean now. No improvement.I tried going back to an image from several weeks ago. Event Viewer worked but when I ran SFC SCANNOW and restarted, it stopped working again. If I run mmc.exe, I get a single folder Console Root. Trying to launch Event Viewer from the File menu crashes it. Running services the same way works. Running Component Management crashes.

I have Win 7 installed and working (built from the Dell OEM DVD - Home Edtion 64 bit). I have all the 80 + updates/patches downloaded and installed Everything is working good. My main partition is Drive C (system/boot/active) and I have an image backup of it stored on another drive My data partition is Drive D and I have file backups for it on another drive Issues. All is good except on restarts, I get chkdsk / drive consistency problems. In the event I cannot clear out the errors, I may need to reformat Question - Which, if any, of the two options should I go with.
OPTION 1
1) Boot from Win 7 OEM DVD
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean.
4) But then blow away the WIn 7 version and recover Win 7 SP1 from the image backup
Or Option 2
1) Boot from WIn 7 OEM DVD (same as Option 1)
2) Select Custom/Advanced/Format (same as Option 1)
3) Let Win 7 format the drive and install clean. (same as Option 1)
4) And then continue from there ,ie start all over again to reload all the windows updates.

Every time Windows triggers an dialog alert (like windows asterisk, windows critical error ect.) I don't hear the event sound related to it. I looked over and over the settings in the config screen: looking for currupted settings in my windows sound scheme or currupted media files in the windows media dir. But it seems that everything is simply okay, all the settings are correct and the files work well (I can hear the sound when I click test in the sound config screen). It just looks like it that the sounds do not get triggered by the event. It just came out of the blue, everything worked fine and just the other day I did not hear dialog event sounds anymore. Things I have tried:
- Sfc /scannow to fix possible currupted media files (although I did not think this was the problem, since all the files work just fine). No effect.
- Reset the default sound scheme of windows of a few times, even tried some other sound shemes that come preinstalled with Windows 7. No effect.
- Tried to reinstall my sound drivers (no idea why I tried that because my sound works just fine). No effect.
- Made a new user account to see if the problem was account related. No effect.
In short: What is the possible cause/solution for windows events sounds not triggered/suppressed by the dialog event itself (all settings/sound files correct)?

So recently I had hardware issues, and through warranty I had several replacements done. Mobo, Video cards, ram sticks, and the power supply. After all that was fixed and replaced my computer seemed to have ran fine for a few days, and it still technically is except for this problem. The problem is when I log in into windows normally it takes a while for Windows to boot up. I get a "Please wait" screen, then after a long 4 minute log in once inside windows I get the"Windows could not connect to the system event notification service", and the toolbar is grey all old school windows like.
[url]...
In services the service is called System event notification, it says that the service is running fine. Even when i try to restart it, it makes no difference at all.

I have a PC I assembled last June. After I loaded it up with my applications and connected my devices I began getting device disconnect sounds as well as a few device connect sounds. I've been troubleshooting by disconnecting all devices then adding devices back one at a time to try to find the culprit. I'm not getting consistent or convincing results so far, but will keep working on that approach.
A Web search on the subject returns lots of results where users are experiencing these sounds. Answers are sparse. And antagonizing! I have not found any hints as to how to extract from the system what is actually happening. What I am looking for is if anybody knows where in the system I can find a log that records device connect/disconnect events associated with these sounds.
