I have 6 updates that will not install (KB2633873) (KB2641653) (KB2645640) (KB2654428) (KB2640148) (KB2660075). I have tried each of them separately and all have failed with the same error, I have downloaded and ran the System Update Readiness Tool with no success. Here is my CheckSUR.log.

I am trying to install the "Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems KB2718704)," however, whenever I try to install it, I get the 800B0100 Error Code. I'm unable to do any windows updates due to error code 800B0100. I think a recent virus I had may have tampered with update files. I tried running the System Update Readiness Tool as suggested in Help and Support however the update installation on that failed too. Due to other problems I've been having recently I'm considering re-installing my OS at this point.

I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. View 1 Replies View RelatedA while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
Just purchased a new MOBO and some other new hardware a couple of weeks ago. I am using the same Windows 7 Pro copy I had on my previous mobo and HD. After I installed Windows 7 Pro onto my SDD (with a HD as my secondary storage), I was getting BSOD and SP1 would not install (but other updates would prefectly fine). I re-installed (cleanly) Pro a couple of days ago. Now, barely any of the updates work. There are various failure codes, such as the ones in the title--and no distinct problem.
I was able to download some updates by only selecting 1-3 at a time. However, with 118 updates...I eventually lost my patience (plus, sometimes a few would still fail even at only 1-3 at a time).
The failure process at first was at the download stage - the progress would freeze randomly at 7% or whichever. After several more attempts it got through to the installation phase. Now installations randomly stop at a random file. Upon restart, Windows fails to configure updates and nothing is accomplished.
Now a weird thing is, that with some of my larger files (2+mb), I will sometimes see like 5.1mb - 10mb for the listed file size. Also, on my main Windows Update screen (the one which lists how many important and optional updates you can download), it says "79 important updates selected, 236.2 MB - 1,059.8 MB."
I have tried:

seeing as it had infected my services.exe, part of the fix was to get a new copy of it, or something around those lines; this will come in to play later, I think. Anyway, its been a LONG time, my last update whenever I try running windows update, it runs for a bit and tries to receive the updates, but then stops and displays a message saying it failed to update, and gives me the error code of 80246008. I've looked this up, and I see that it possibly has something to do with the background intelligent transfer service.

I originally was failing 14 updates with 800b0100 and one other error code (forgot which). I went with manually installing them, and it took it down to 5 updates fail to install with only error code 800b0100.

I had some unstable RAM settings when first setting up the computer, where I think an update or so was occuring and the system crashing. Pretty sure only during the download process though.Anyways, I've done everything on this that I can find. SFC Scannow, System Update Readiness Tool, Reset content of catroot2, Remove any incorrect registry (none of the stuff they say to delete was even in there), The only step that did not go 100% smoothly was "Register the Windows Update Files":

View 3 Replies View RelatedUntil a few weeks ago I was running the following computer and I use it just for gaming, I changed the Motherboard to an Asus P8Z68 and used a different i5 2500k-everything else remained the same. I erased the SSD and did a clean install of Win 7. Loaded the mother board drivers, video drivers and intel rapid storage. The system boots up and appears to be working great. If I try and use windows update I get the error code 0xc80003fa. I have googled the error code and done everything that has been suggested to fix the issue and still nothing. I have done another clean install and get exactly the same result.

My windows update says it has 55 important updates but when I attempt to update it says that the updates were not installed and gives the error code 80246008. The windows help and support tells me I need to change or restart the background intelligent transfer service (BITS) but it isn't in the list of services that it directs me to. The microsoft fixit and automated troubleshooter fixes have both failed to help and I'm a bit worried this is a symptom of a real underlying problem.
