Can I remote desktop from windows 7 starter to any computer with XP or 7, without upgrading to 7 Premium? I am looking to buy a net book that has 7 starter loaded on it, but if it can't remote connect then I need to rethink it. I know most net book's do not have enough RAM to run 7.
I'm working on a NetBoot a acre aspire one and windows 7 starter loads up to the home screen but no icons are shown, nothing it just basically reloads at the windows 7 starter screen. It does have a system restore file from 9-28 but I don't want to use that unleash have to.I ran it in safe mode and the same problem, tried safe mode with networking last good configuration all the same even the dos prompt. All the same.
WindowsStar, my wife's problem is similar, only her Windows 7 Starter won't take her password, so she can't get to the welcome screen. I've pulled the battery off, and also did a restart. Still, the only option is type the friggin' password, and it won't take it.
i have a question mine is a simple mini net book with window 7 starter is there any chance that i can change it to any other windows or i can change the language from polish to English,if as i understood that in window 7 starter has the language only the language when we purchase it,so that i would like to know that is there any possibility to change the window 7 starter to any other windows and if i can do it, how i can do it?is it necessary to go shop or to search a operator and if i do it any damage will destroy my computer
I would prefer to have windows in C drive and all my data in another drive. I don't need HP tools . Deleting this partition will enable me to have linux as dual boot( right now it is not possible as it has already 4 primary partitions ).Is it possible to reinstall windows 7 starter from a cd or pendrive and just enter the serial number given in the sticker at the bottom (like windows xp which came with an installation cd). This way I can partition it the way I want. If it is possible, where can i download an installation cd ?

I have a sony vaio netbook with W7 starter but it is in Spanish! I have W7 ultimate on my external HD and want to replace the W7 starter on the sony with the full ultimate version.
My Dell 1100 notebook has Windows 7 Starter installed. I know that in this system the search function works in the form of a search box which appears when clicking the start icon. However, the box has never appeared. I have been suggested by some acquaintances that the search box is not pre-installed in Windows 7 Starter. But, as a matter of fact, I have seen that it is indeed as you can gather from visiting the Microsoft page.
My netbook crashed luckly I have an external cd rom drive, and the recovery discs. How do I get the netbook working again though. What are the steps I need to take.
My granddaughter just purchased an Asus netbook and it came with Windows 7 Starter Edition installed...Is there any way to upgrade the operating system to Win 7 Home Edition? There is no DVD drive in this computer.

I just got a mini notebook with windows 7 starter on it and I can not do much with just starter. I was wondering how do I switch Starter with Professional without the CD because it doesn't have a CD-ROM drive.
My Dell netbook with Windows 7 tells me that themes are not supported when I attempted to install the PC Advisor Windows 7 screenesavers. I really cannot see the advantages of 7 over Vista!!
2 days ago, i bought a Netbook equipped with windows starter. I needed a cheap computing solution for college since i only need Word, Maple and Google chrome to make me happy during my free times at school. It's brand new and was equipped with Mcafee internet security 60 days trial which i took cause it was already installed and ready to work, anyway. I received message from windows update which i ignored for the last day since i didn't needed to use my netbook at all. I finally did the update today. And then. Boom. While rebooting, BSOD.(Reminded me of windows 98 and ME since i hadn't seen one in the last 10 years XD ). Memory dump, and rebooting. Then the apparently now famous Windows couldn't boot appeared and they offered me to try to run windows normally or to use the restore. I tried to run it again, which failed. So i did restored but now i'm still with the same problem while updating windows. I have checked on many forums but their similar problems are from 2010. And my netbook has been manufactured not two month ago since it's a new model.
I tried a lot of software like the aeroenabler ,aeropatch or regedit but allcan't.....the windows 7 advisor say my pc is support aero but why still can't enable??
I notice that most netbooks installed with 1GB RAM only. Some of the newer Atom N550 CPU netbooks don't even allow user to upgrade memory (panel underneath locked). So I wonder if 1GB is truely enough for Starter edition because it uses less memory than others?
I have a problem with a netbook where it has lost the file actionqueue.dll and I need to install a copy. The netbook wont boot up but have managed to get it into command prompt. I have put a copy of the file onto a usb stick but I cannot get the usb stick to be seen when in command prompt.have run diskpart and it is showing their but cannot find any other way to see it so that I can copy the file off and back into the netbook.
At my first installation of Windows 7 to my netbook there were 2 language options: Turkish & English Today I decided to reinstall Windows 7 from, umm what you call, the partition where is located Windows 7 setup files, the hidden part of the HDD. I pressed F11, it didn't worked. Googled it and I'm right, it is F11 for Casper's netbooks.
Then I tried F8, then reinstall Windows 7 (which does not exists on my desktop PC interestingly), and I installed it without problem. Even it backuped the old files. And didn't touched some folders under C. But it is not clean installation as you can see it backuped the old files, didn't touched some folders under C, and the most inportant part is that now it is Turkish! Where is my English Windows 7?
I want to ask how can I start this Windows setup which is hidden at the HDD? Is there something like Linux distro and app to start it. I have USB sockets but not CD/DVD/etc... hardware.
I have a desktop pc running Vista & a netbook running Windows 7 Starter. Is there an upgrade option that will allow me to upgrade both machines to Windows 7 Home Premium in a single purchse, or will I need to purchase separate licenses for each required upgrade?
I have a home network (MSHOME) where I connect 3 XP home and 1 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 computers and have file, printer and internet sharing . Belkin N+ Router and ADSL modem. My setup works great. Now my Sister is visiting and I can not get her (Donna PC) Eeepc 1015PE with Windows 7 Starter, online. As with the Windows 7 Ultimate computer I had to use a static IP to get on my LAN. With Donna-PC I can connect to the LAN and see the other Windows 7 computer but not the XP ones. Can not connect to the internet with IE or Firefox. With Donna-PC I can interrogate my Belkin router as with the other computers with HTTP://192.168.2.1,Ipv6 is ticked off and a static address of 192.168.2.7is set in ipv4 with gateway as 192.168.2.1 and no alternate. My DHNS pool is from 192.168.2.2 - .6The network map on Donna-pc shows this pc connected to to the Belkin router with a red X between the router and the internet. The network is unidentified, public. Have not been able to name it MSHOME or change it to a home network.I can double click on the.unidentified network and a box comes up and invites me to change the network name but I can not.I suspect the problem with no internet access is because this computer insists it is on a public network and not a home network. As I am networking with XP and Windows 7 computers I am using the old MSHOME name and not Windows 7 work group. Works fine on all but this guest Donna-pc.
I have Win 7 Starter on an Akoya/Median Netbook and I can't get the system to accept my iPhone as an internet 'Hotspot' either in Bluetooth, or with the USB cable.
I have Vista and XP on other machines and it was relatively easy to setup.
My HP 110-3030NR Netbook is completely wiped clean at the moment. I have a bootable USB with a copy of Windows 7 Starter. I insert the USB, boot the netbook and go through the motions of selecting language and accepting terms and conditions. I get to the infamous "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen.
If I try to install on partition #2 it says... If I try to install on partition #1 it says...
So... I gotta admit I sort of became a traitor and tried installing Linux 10 Mint because I had been told Linux will handle all partition problems itself. Well, that didn't work, it seems to be the same type of problem with a different error name, with Linux it said, "The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI2 (0,0,0) (sdb) failed". So I gave up on that and am now BACK to trying to install Windows 7 Starter. The only difference is that NOW when I get to "Where do you want to install Windows?" there aren't ANY partitions and at the bottom it says, "No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation". I have been to the HP website and cannot find any Mass Storage Drivers, all I found were upgrades and patches. I loaded a few promising ones on a USB and tried to load them but the computer wouldn't even recognize them.
