Windows 7 Setup Does Not Continue After First Reboot?
Jan 23, 2012
I have a 32bit XP installed in C: and I want to install 64bit Win 7 on D:. I have used the usb download tool to make a bootable usb drive and installed Windows 7 till the 1st reboot. However after the reboot, it just returns to page 1 of the installation (select language, drive to install into etc). If I change the boot priority to HDD first, then it just boots into XP as if nothing has ever happened.I have tried searching for the answer for more than 5 hours now and all the fixes dont seem to work. It is as though my computer cant detect that Win 7 is installed halfway.PC Specs: E6750 C2D , Gigabyte G41-MTS2PT, 4GB ram, Sapphire 5750 512mb. 2x 160gb hdd.

when I hit 'reboot', my computer shuts down fine but when it is supposed to reboot, my monitor light stays orange (whereas it's blue when it's in use) and the computer just never... boots I guess. The screen stays black. If I press the reboot button on my tower, then I can boot into windows.
I've checked the event viewer and nothing came up except something about a missing driver (The AODDriver4.2 service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.).
This has been going on since I performed a system restore a month ago because an update of Malwarebytes (to the latest version) literally killed my internet (ISP came out and for three weeks worked on it - giving me a new, direct line I don't share with anyone in my apartment, giving me a new ethernet cable, trying a new network card etc) and finally I was told to uninstall all AV/anti-malware programs one by one (since I've MS Security Essentials and MWB), and after MWB was uninstalled, bam, my internet was fine.).
Not sure what's going on, and I don't really know what information to provide for this since there isn't an error, my Windows just isn't booting.
MWB said nothing was detected (full scan), same for my AV, so what could this be?
ETA; From the Event Viewer, listed as Warning, at the time I rebooted: Quote: The Transaction (UOW={c055ddca-29fe-11e2-b7f3-00261840ca2c}, Description='') was unable to be committed, and instead rolled back; this was due to an error message returned by CLFS while attempting to write a Prepare or Commit record for the Transaction. The CLFS error returned was: 0xc0190052.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 but am having problems half way through the setup.
Half way through the install I get the following message "Setup can't continue. Restart the computer and restart Setup. When prompted, try getting the latest updates."
I'm trying to install on a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (DV6733tx) with Vista service pack 1 installed and 4GB of memory. From the compatibility tests that I have run there shouldn't be any problems.
My partner has also installed from the same disk and it installed properly so we know it's not the disk.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I've tried on three separate occasions now and while each time it's progressed a little further, I still end up with the above error message.

When my pc trys to reboot it tries to install a windows update but it sits and you think its installing but its not. If the pc need to reboot it fails at the bios screen and you have to power off. Then you get a windows saying that windows could not restart and to press F1 to continue but the reason for the reboot has not been done.

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB23FM, At first when I tried to go to windows i got a black screen that said "Operating System Not Found", so my friend tried to fix it with a windows 7 repair cd. But here is the problem he accidentally formatted the Hard Drive which deleted all the files and file the manufacture put in it, he also tried to mess with the ranish partition manager, so he tried to install a fresh windows 7 OSX but the laptop shutoff, now he tried it again and we get a message saying "setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file" I cant get to my desktop either.

I am trying to upgrade Vista to Windows7 Home Premium and I got this message after the installer copied ~2GB of files on my PC:
"setup can't continue. restart the computer and restart setup. when prompted try getting the latest updates."
I restarted the PC and restarted the setup and I got the same message. I updated the Mother Board Bios and restarted the setup I got the same message. I have tried both options (get update and no update during the setup). And it didn't work.
I do not want to do custom install (fresh install) on my computer.

We have a new build for a friend's Media Center, and for the first time ever with Windows 7, I am having an issue with the installation that I can not isolate.
The System:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
Gigabyte 8900GPA-UD3H
2 x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (KHX1600C9D3B1K2/4GX)
4x Seagate 1.5GB SATAII ST31500341AS (in RAID 5)
LITE-ON SATA CD/DVD Burner (iHAS124-04)
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64
We tried installing to multiple system drives, and they all end up completing the installation, rebooting, but reboot just as the flag starts to cycle in. no BSOD, no error messages, just reboots every time. Safe mode gets as far as achix64s.sys, (which leads us to think some kind of drive/er or controller issue) then reboots.
We have tried:
setting the BIOS to all available combinations of RAID, AHCI, and IDE modes
Updated drivers (even though Windows 7 has recognized all the drives right off)
isolated all the memory sticks 1 by 1
different cables, drives, and PSU
swapped the mouse pad, just in case...
We also each went over it separately to eliminate potential PEBKAC, but each got the same results.

I am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.

I was running the Windows 7 home premium 32bit upgrade on a Toshiba laptop that was running Vista Home Premium 32bit. The upgrade process rebooted at somepoint and now it keeps rebooting to a DOS window with a command prompt on drive X. If I try to run the install.exe off drive D (CD-ROM) it starts the process and then stops saying the installation booted of the Windows 7 installation CD please remove the CD and restart. I cannot get past this endless loop. Nothing will boot completely.

one of the netbooks was plugged in to initially power it up, but then hard-shut-down before Windows could run through its initial setup. Now when I boot up the netbook, and it attempts to go through the initial windows setup "Setup is starting services", and then throws an error message: The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.I restart, and the cycle continues. This happens whether I try to boot normally or in safe modeI've got no CD-drive attached to it, so I'm not sure what I can do to break this error cycle.

I am running Windows 7 64bit. I have 15 updates that continue to fail. YES, I KNOW THE IMAGE SHOWS "1" - that's because I wanted to see if could actually perform one SMALL update. They're just a bunch of Security Updates for MS Office programs. DO NOT tell me to download these updates manually. THAT IS NOT A SOLUTION to a problem that will continue on forever. I clicked "Get help with this error" which brought me to the window's help as seen in the second half of the image. These errors have NOTHING to do with the problem I am having.
YES, I have disabled my antivirus program already and they still fail.
YES, I am logged in as the administrator and I have all the necessary privileges.
YES, I have used Windows' crappy troubleshooter.
YES, I used Window's crappy automatic "fixer" or whatever that junk is called.
About a week ago my computer was running EXTREMELY slowly and opening just about any program that was part of office was EXTREMELY laggy. I ran disk defrag, disk clean up, and I went through a bunch of services and start up programs that I didn't need and disabled them. This increased my computer's performance and MS Office no longer lags.

If you can't close, setup can do it for you."

That's the list of programs that need to be closed. Obvious, I cancelled. Why do I need to close almost everything for installing a browser?

the key of this new post is;I AM SCARED that the scenario i had before (all JPGS pictures vanished, and nobody was able to find what was the cause) could be repeated again.why i am saying that?in this system (new HDD with fresh windows 7 install) have few pictures, while scanning (superantispyware)the the old disk (the one were all the pictures were delete by an unknown reason) i notice one picture was missing, but i found instead a file named; "EL 71B9.tmp", by certain reason i decide to copy the file and to change it's extension to jpg, and voila, my picture was there.

During my usual morning start-up, I got a dos screen with a message and to press F1 to continue. Everything booted fine after that. I ran malwarebytes, backed up my data files on a flash drive and looked into the event logs to see what might have happened.Unfortunately, I didn't even know where to look in the event logs except the administrative events which showed nothing critical.

I just bought a HP Pavilion laptop which is running 64bit Windows 7. My old printer is Compaq IJ600 and ran on XP fine.No drivers have been made since for Vista or 7, and I am not able to figure out if I can find either an updated driver someone has created perhaps, or how to run the old drivers in 64bit.Or to get it to run in compatability mode successfully as XP or Vista. Is there any way to continue using my Compaq printer without buying a new one?

My computer hard drive crashed a week ago and most of my back-ups went with the system. So, I got a new 500 GB drive and have been re-installing everything from scratch. I started with a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2), which took forever to get all the up-dates done. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and did the up-dates for that. I didn't make a recovery disk at this point because I wanted to get everything installed first.Unfortunately, the last time I went to reboot it failed. When I power-up the computer it stalls out on the Dell BIOS screen. I can't get into Safe Mode, Setup, or the Boot Menu because my keyboard and mouses are not working. They are both USB and none of my USB ports are working. (Also, I have not PS/2 ports on my machine.).
