I was playing total war shogun 2 on windows 7. Diagonal lines started shooting out of the characters, square block patterns start flashing all over the place. The graphics got progressevley worse and worse so i took in. They tested the graphics card and it was fine so they restarted the computer and then windows crashed. They reinstalled windows 7 and i started putting everything back together.
I just put total war back on my computer and started playing and its started again. I restarted my computer and all that came back was a blinking undersscore. Luckily i shutdown and it started normally but the graphics are still messed up.
I recently tested windows 7, 6801 only because you cant get the beta in 64 bit yet. Anyway. I use 2 260 gtx and under windows 7 games play much better than in vista BUT they would only run properly when sli was disabled. SLI mode in windows 7 for me was totally broken. The computer would freeze and not recover. The only way was to reset the computer. I hope it is only a driver issue since they do not make graphics drivers for 7 yet but geeze that really sucks. Is anyone else using sli in 7? I used 64 bit.
I installed a retail version of W 7 on a Fujitsu which broke 6 months ago and cannot be restarted. Now I cannot activate the installation on my replacement computer and the support is less than useful, always referring back to an automated system. I transferred the HD from the old computer to the new but cannot see a way to uninstall the windows 7 from that disc. Trying help by telephone was impossible because of excruciating bad connection.
Wifes Dell with XP blew up mother board and corrupted boot files. Placed drive as slave in my machine. Drive works fine, can access all needed stuff, can't boot it. I can access Favorites, Address book files from Outlook express, photos. I copied all the important things also to a seperate folder on a My book USB drive. Can I install the My book to her new computer running 7 ultimate 32 bit and just drag and drop or copy to the favorites file while in the explorer pane? She was running IE7. Also how can I put all of her address book from Outlook Express into Outlook 2010?
Yesterday my friend needed me to test something for him in MySQL, a program I had installed a while back. When I tried to get in, it told me that I needed a root password. Since I forgot that, and I had no idea how to log in, I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall MySQL and delete all the leftover files and registry values that it left behind. I'm not sure if that is what caused it or something else that I can't remember, but since last night a lot of my computer services aren't working. For one thing, I can't log into MySQL.I can't install/uninstall any programs. - Solved.I have my Control Panel listed as a menu in my Start list, but when I highlight it, it shows the Control Panel as empty.I can't turn on my Windows Security CenterI can't access/turn on System Restore and clicking on 'Turn System Restore on or off' does nothing.I can't access System Information - Solved.or System Properties - Solved. In addition, I can't click the properties of any folder (If I try to right click My Computer and hit properties, nothing happens), my computers sound is not working, my taskbar shows my internet as offline even though its working and I can't open pictures - Solved.I also cannot run SFC / Scannow - Solved.or run Windows Update - Solved.I also feel like there might be something wrong with my graphics diver, because as I've been typing this post, my screen keeps flashing to my desktop - Solved.I cannot pull up my specs using the program 'Speccy' because it says Class Not Registered for everything. I prefer to stay in the same window when seeking files otherwise I end up with 300 open folders.Control Panel > Folder Options > Open Each Folder In The Same Window - Doesn't work...
recently the battery on my laptop is very loose so when ever i move it the laptop goes off if it is not plugged into the wall, when this happens and i restart it, when i get to the login screen the background of the screen is fine and i can use my mouse but the login button does not appear and i cannot enter my pass word.I have tried using startup repair (which does nothing) and system restore which doesn't run properly and comes up with error (0x8007...)
For some reason windows explorer insists having single click turned on disregarding my choice of double clicking(the standard)I've taken screen shots of my setting and the lack of results in folder view.
I've have had three working Windows 7 images (Lenovo T510, Lenovo X201, and a Fujitsu T900) for several months. Periodically I install MS updates, make other necessary changes, run sysprep, and recapture the images in an effort to keep them current. Recently now during this update process, after running sysprep (using the same sysprep xml answer file that I have been using all along), wireless no longer works after applying the updated image. The wireless driver appears to be installed, but will not detect any wireless networks. If I attempt to create a wireless network profile manually, I receive "an unexpected network error has occurred."
The wireless device does appear in Device Manager as though it's in tact but if I run diagnostics, the wireless device is not found. Uninstalling, and reinstalling the driver does not fix the problem. I have come up with a workaround, but it is not a true fix, as the workaround prevents me from being able to consolidate the T510 and X201 into one universal Lenovo image as I should be able to do. The workaround consists of adding the following two lines to my xml file:
This allows the wireless to work again because sysprep no longer strips the wireless driver as it processes. However because the wireless driver remains on the image after sysprep, I lose the ability to consolidate the images. After I Inject the T510 drivers into the X201 image, or vice versa, after then I apply the image, wireless only works on the model that the image was captured on, even though the wireless driver for the other model was injected into the image. The strange thing is that the T510 and X201 have the same wireless chipset.
With XP I used to boot from the CD, and tell windows to 'upgrade' the existing broken / unbootable version of windows already installded on the system.I have a similar case now with a widows 7 install, and if I boot from the DVD and then tell it to do an upgrade install it tells me that I need to boot into windows and then run setup. Well, I can't boot to windows... I tried all the 'repair start-up' options to see if that would fix it, and it hasn't so I need to do an install to replace what's gone or broken or whatever, but it only wants to let me do a full clean install.
i operate a 2 year old notebook using windows 7. lately the sound is broken up, (cuts in & out), sometimes garbled and slow, and at times it's ok. i have tried Internet, my own music, any sound system, seems to be bad. almost feels like the old fashioned electrical short circuit problem
In my windows 7 rating i have got 6.3 in gaming graphics but in graphics i have got only 4.9. Why this is happening? A graphics card which is good for gaming is that not good for desktop aero graphics?
Sparodically following boot up my network icon shows that it is broken, (displays red cross) can anyone assist as to why this happens, I am using W7 64 bit clean install on a gigabyte mobo ga-ep35-dsp3, 8400 intel cpu with 4 gybtes memory. Also which file does this icon activaye from.
Running Win 7 Home with all latest updates. Why can't I access all Windows 7 functions in normal way, yet I can access them directly by a workaround? I recently found that I could not access the administrator functions for computer management on my home computer. For instance, when right clicking on the main "Computer" icon on my desktop and selecting "Manage" I would get an unspecified error. Going in through control panel I could not access many system admin tools and when I try I get error of you may not "have the appropriate permissions" This applies to "Services" "Component Services" "Computer Management".
Workaround: Today I found that I can open the administrative tool folder in Explorer directly and then right click on one of the management functions and select "Run as Administrator." Then it let's me in OK and I can control things. It's only the usual ways of accessing these controls that I can not now do. This is my personal computer and I'm logged on as administrator, the only account on the system, AND it is telling me I can't access all the files on my own computer's hard drive that you normally use to manage win 7. It's not networked files I'm trying to use but my own Win 7 computer's hard drive, e.g. I get the error when I click on own Desktop Computer Icon and select "Manage."
just got a netbook with win 7. system restore now is broken, backup is missing and i cant see any way to connect to wifi service. system restore and wireless connection worked before i restored to an old system restore point?
While running memtest86 on a bootable cd, it froze which I then restarted my computer. It is now unable to start up Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I can reinstall Windows but would like to know if the whole event damaged my hard drive. I can only start up to where the orbs make the Windows logo before it restarts. Also there is no noise, smoke or smell coming from my hard drive. Is it possible that it is damaged beyond use and repair? Also my BIOS seems to have changed the name of the Hard drive to SATA instead of HDD
I somehow managed to destroy windows update. it cannot find updates anymore. Ive gotten 2 error codes: 80248014 and (not sure) 80073712. I have tried using a program i found on the windows club that was supposed to fix it but didnt, i tried the System Update Readiness Tool, but it failed.
I spilt water on my laptop keyboard and now non of the keys work, i bought a wireless keyboard, but cant install it because i cant get past the logon screen.
How can I recover the Windows 7 key if the hard disk has broken (I have changed it) AND I cannot see the Windows key label on the back of the laptop because it isn't there (there's a linux label instead)?, of course my doubt is whether Windows or Linux was the original OS. If Windows 7 was the original OS and is thus an OEM version, can I contact Microsoft and ask them and give them the serial number or product number of the netbook?
I know about trick of renaming regedit.exe to regedit.com from the command line. But that works only when the .com association is NOT broken. What do I do when BOTH are broken?
I have a compaq cq56-115dx latop, and looking for some input on a problem I have. I attempted to upgrage my ram from 2 gb to 5gb. The 4 gb chip went in ok on the bottom slot, however, when placing second 1 gb chip, I accidentally broke the levers. Since it was now broken I decided, to see what would happen if I gently replaced cover, to hold chip in place, ad screwed cover on firmly. Turned on laptop, and all is working fine, including all 5 gb memory is available. My question is should I leave it the way it is, or should I have it fixed properly. FYI the cover over the chip is vented.
I was talking to some friends over skype when i needed to log out and my mic was fine there were no problems with it. i logged out and when i logged back in and called a friend up on skype he could not hear me talking the only thing he could hear was a loud static noise. i went to configure the settings but it said i tried everything and it would still make the noise. i tried plugging in a brand new mic that has never been used before i took it out of the packaging and plugged it in and still the same problem.
So the SATA connector on my old 64GB SSD snapped off, now it's become a crap shoot just trying to get the bios to recognize it. I've already accepted I'll need to RMA this one, and even bought a bigger replacement for it.to the nature of my OS install I am a bit confused as to how I should go about reinstalling windows. I'd put the main OS files (and drivers) on the SSD, while storing the users folders and everything else on my larger HD. Now however I am left with just my windows 7 install disc, and a 1TB harddrive I know has my user folders on it.How should I go about installing it? Is there an easy way to simply use the already established folders and the like, instead of manually moving/deleting the old ones?
i have heard a lot of my friends saying that they are unable to play high resolution and high definition games on their pc and told that they are on a low budget to buy a graphics card.here is a solution for that:there is a software named 3-d analyzer available in the internet which acts as a virtual graphics card for playing games. you can enter the graphic card needed from the 4 available graphic cards available and then you can get the attributes of that graphic card..if fine tuned, you can play games at the range of a 128mb ram virutal graphic card on your non graphic card pc. note:graphic intensive games, that requires atleast 512mb of graphics memory can't be played through 3d analyzer if you don't have a graphic card, but you can try running it if you have a 256/128 mb card. steps for using the 3-d analyzer software, *first download the file from here, *then extract that software and open the software, *then, select the exe file of the game that you want to run, *choose the select option, *then you can choose the attributes the options you require to play the game,*the attributes may be pixel shader or disable rendering in the game or emulation or some other options specified, *then, enter the device id and the vendor id for the graphics card you need from the available graphics card on the right.*i would suggest the ati radeon 9800pro to run most of the games like fifa 08/09 or prince of persia two thrones/sands of time, *then choose the run option and then i assure that the game would run for you at a decent/playable speed. note:1.if it shows any error that a file is not found pls reinstall the software.2.if the screen turns black/blank then play with the options in the s/w, by trial and error method,if fortunate, may be,you'll be able to run your favorite game.3.if pixel shader/shader version x.x not found, then select the appropriate shader model and run the game. all the best..happy gaming..if any queries post it below.how to: use 3d analyzer video at Internet
i have been attempting to open some .exe files but keep on getting the message 'not a vaild win32 application'. A scan with Super Anti spyware shows the following - System Broken File Association HKCR\.exe. I am assuming that something is wrong with the .exe link. I have checked the list of defaults and noticed that the .exe default was missing. I have also tried some fixes which appear to attempt to change the registry, but these have not worked. Do i need to manually change some registry content?
