My problem is that I removed Firefox by mistake from my Recent Programs by selecting "Remove from this list" so I just wanted to reset the Recent Programs list to make it start logging my most used programs again so...
What I did was to right click the Start Menu, click Properties and uncheck "Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu", then I checked it again and the result was a blank list... but when the list started populating again all the programs that I had ignored in the past still don't show up (including Firefox).
I've tried everything without success, so maybe someone can tell me where the blacklisted programs are stored? Maybe a file needs to be deleted or a registry key?
From what I've been investigating it's not in the registry. It has nothing to do with "UserAssist" or any other registry key I've found. I have a program called User Assist View and I can confirm UserAssist is logging Firefox each time I open it, it's even my most used program but it still doesn't show up in the Start menu.
It has nothing to do with "automaticDestinations-ms" files or any file from %userprofile%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsRecent.
Oh and I don't want to pin Firefox to the Start menu, just to reset the recent programs logging. I use Windows 7 Ultimate, 32Bit.
When booting system sometimes I hit F9 to select boot device, when I want to boot from dvd or usb. Before you say I can list boot devices in bios I know this, the problem Is UEFI and Legacy my UEFI system is not secure boot and for whatever reason I have to F9 and manually select usb or dvd legacy, some versions of linux will not boot otherwise.
UEFI boot sources:
Windows boot manager Linux Mint Linux mint
[Code]....
Over the course of the last year I have dual booted several version of linux, but it seems that linux mint and ubuntu add entries to my UEFI boot sources list...how do I remove them, the list is getting to long, and currently only windows 7 is installed.
Hp Pavillion Slimline s5-1114 Bios version 7.16 Ps other than this annoying list the system boots fine right into windows.
I installed a game that I didn't like so i wanted to uninstall it but if needed me to upgrade something which I didn't want to do, so I removed the game manually. Most of the time if I choose to uninstall the game after removing the game manually it just gives me an error and asks me if I want to remove it from the list. This time however, it didn't. It tried to uninstall it but gave me a different error telling me that something is missing and it can't uninstall the game. It doesn't remove the Programs list.
I have a USB modem for wireless internet. It is listed in "Computer" and in "Devices and printers", but not showing on the Safely Remove Hardware list. It was showing in Vista. I have a 7 Ultimate x86 newly installed with not too many programs (some AV, etc.). going into "Devices and printers", right clicking on it and choosing option for removing. I don't have this option.
I have a HUAWEI USB modem for my wireless internet. It doesn't show on the Safely Remove Hardware list. It does show in the Device ManagerDisk drives as aD Storage USB Device, also in Devices and Printers and in Computer. It was showin
How can i remove JUST the program from the list, without actually uninstalling it?Ive tried going toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall but i cannot find the program i want to do this to.
I have a lot of external drives connected to my computer (Windows 7 Ultimate) and am contently connecting and disconnecting external cards and devices and sometimes I have up to 22 connected devices. When I need to safely disconnect a device and open the "safely remove device" list, the devices are listed in no logical order (image attached) and I have to spend precious seconds searching for the device I need to disconnect. A few seconds are not a lot but it's frustrating doing this many times a day. know a way to have the list sorted either alphabetically or at least in the order they were connected?
I am attempting to uninstall (and then reinstall) Office 2010 Prof Plus. I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).
where the quick launch icons are. instead of the icons being separate. they have something called a jump list. how do i get rid of the jump list. specifically, this is for notepad documents.
I would like to see a list of which hidden files and directories there are in Windows 7, ie the ones that the actual OS, or the by Microsoft with the OS bundled programs such as Mediaplayer, writes to the disk as hiddenHere are the ones I know so far:[CODE]
As said, Windows (7) Firewall is not appearing in the services list, and I'm getting the error code: 0x80070424 when trying to start it up, and 0x6d9 when I'm trying to access the firewall. I have no idea what so ever as to what could have caused this, and I doubt CCleaner could have done it.
Does anyone know how to remove the "safely remove hardware" icon in the taskbar? I do not mean hide it. I have my icons always show in the notification area because I don't like the arrow icon either.
My pc has been acting funny i ran the chkdisk wich begins when you boot up the pc. At some point i knocked the ac adapter out of my notebook without knowing it and it finally went dead in the middle of the chkdisk. It automatically rebooted and gave me the option to repair the harddisk using vista which i upgraded to 7 a couple of years ago and i would choose the the only other option which was start windows normally well every time i would do that win 7 would try to load and right before you get to ur user account icon where you type in your password the pc would reboot and start this same cycle over and over again. Nevertheless when it rebooted again i hit the fn keys like i was a receptionist typin 150 words a min and i think it might have been the f10 key but not sure and this is the list of options that popped up.
I've recently began building my first custom-built computer, I began with an old Compaq Presario that a friend gave me, and I've pretty much gutted it and replaced all its components. The components I've replaced have included the motherboard, processor, hard drive, RAM and PSU (I'll include the specifics of my set-up below). I've been trying to install Windows 7 but have been getting the blue screen (BSOD) before the installation could complete. The BSOD said "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" towards the top of the screen. I'm fairly sure that I've installed all the new hardware correctly. The following is the new hardware I've installed:
I have family members who aren't very computer savvy but somehow get to the sites they shouldn't have, like to click on links they don't even understand (thus gets infected with viruses etc). I set up a limited windows 7 account for them, browser of choice is IE9, and I need software where I can make list of safe sites they can visit. all other sites should be blocked until added to that list. As I said before they aren't very computer savvy so I don't need something that is hack proof or anything. There is microsoft Family Safety in windows live essentials is that any good for this purpose? Is there any alternatives?
I installed Windows 7 codec ..found from Win7codecs I have some movies (avi) with DTS audio.. WMP plays the movie but not the sound. so I followed the instruction half way down from the link above. (see below) If you have DTS audio in an AVI container, follow this proceedure for playback in WMP or MC;Open the appropriate settings application . . .use the 32bit application for a 32bit player, or the x64 application for MC on x64 systemsChange the AVI splitter under the AVI TAB to Gabests splitterthen rename the AVI to MP4now your file will play. After following this instruction, WMP llibrary won't list MP4 files. I have been trying to search for a solution but without a success.
I have a networked shared USB connected HD on PC 1 that works fine on PC 1. However when I tried to setup MS Backup for the first time on PC 2, it does not list the external HD called Drive "L". When I open COMPUTER on PC 2, the external drive is shown. Drive "L" is also set for ALL USERS, and shared label is indicated on PC 1. So the million dollar question is, why doesn't it show on the list of available drives to select for backup on PC 2? Also, there isn't any way in the backup setup screen to browse or search for any drives.
I use Legacy to record our family genealogy. If, using Legacy I use "Open File" it lists the 5 application files I have available. However, using Explorer it lists just 1 of these 5 files. When I compare the properties of the file I can access with Explorer with one of those by access of Legacy, I notice that all settings are the same with the exception of ttributes on the Details tab: the former shows and the latter Question: Is this the problem? What does it mean? Is it important to have
