View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an older PC with Windows 7 and XP dual boot on a 640GB HD. Recently built a new quad core PC and installed Windows 7 on a 60GB SSD. There is also a new 640GB HD for applications and data.
Spent quite a bit of time searching for the best method of transferring the applications and data setting from the old PC with single HD to the new PC's with SSD and HD. PCMove and True Image are mentioned as options but not sure how they can handle 2 destination drives. I dread the thought of adding each application one by one.
I want to know if i should just load win7 and just my game on a new ssd or have my game only on the ssd and boot from regular hdd. I want the ssd for playing my game only and nothing else, what would be the best way to set up a new ssd for my game only?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows 7 Starter on it, and I have a Windows 7 Ultimate installation DVD that I want to use to upgrade my netbook's OS. I put the DVD into an external DVD drive connected to my netbook with a USB cable and started the installation wizard.
I chose the "Upgrade" option and the installer said that I need to use Windows Anytime Upgrade for that. The problem with that is that I don't want to buy a new license, since I already have this DVD. How can I upgrade my netbook's OS from Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate with the DVD I already have?
My computer needs to have the OS reinstalled and I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro (same OS version that my Dell laptop has) but it is not the Dell Version. Will this work? No recovery CDs were made when the computer was originally purchased and, of course, they do not come with the discs anymore.

My problem is that when I am playing games such as Minecraft or full screen games like Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source, windows decides to Tab Out... When I (it just did this then) press a key it makes the noise that windows normally makes when you can't use the keyboard (I have no idea what to call the noise o.o) Windows also (it just did it again) basically makes the window look like another window is on top of it here, is basically what it looks like (on the right, I decided to put skype and chrome next to each other and click on skype which makes the top of chrome look (it just decided to do this again) like it's basically not in use, I really do not know how to describe this here is an image w/ the comparison http://puu.sh/1RDgf As you can see on the right (Chrome's top bar is abit lighter than Skypes) I have re installed windows once, and this does not do anything, so I am not going to try this again! I've tried in my best ability to explain this, but let me say one last thing, It basically seems like another window is popping up, but cannot be seen and this is making my games and normal windows tab out... I can tell because chrome or the game I am playing will either make the top bar look lighter or just minimize and then when I press a key it will make a noise, unless I press the mouse button which gives me control of the pc again.
I built my own computer last January and installed Windows Vista first and everything worked fine but then I upgraded to Windows 7.In the beginning it worked great, I did get the common problem of every kind of browser crashed every couple of hours and sometimes refused to load up again but i persist and put up with it.Then over the past 3-4 months, I have been getting regular BSOD - They used to be very similar screens and i am not fast enough to jott down the error codes sadly.I maybe receive 2-3 BSoD everyday and the most common issue i am experiencing is when i play World of Warcraft - since these BSoD began, this has been crashing a hell of a lot as well. I cant get an hours play on it without it crashing with the same issue.I put it to the forums with this error log Wow Crash 2/1/13 - Pastebin.com and was told to carry out some actions to see if this could resolve the matter which it did for a very short period of time (ie a day) and then came back with its constant WoWcrashes and BSoD
The BSoD happen when im on and off the game - a lot of the time its when a lot of processes are running, ie several tabs open in my browsers, spotify playing and maybe a couple of folders open - its as if it cant handle it running.I have tried to search for my dumplogs, i was told it was in %systemroot%minidump but its empty and there are no .dmp files on my computer except warcraft ones.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently formatted my computer running windows XP & installed Windows 7 - 64 bit. (actually, it's been about a week).I've noticed that games have been super laggy and the FPS could drop to 1 FPS from time to time. It has made it extremely difficult for me to play Starcraft II and other games.I have installed all the correct & most recent drivers for my hardware (mobo, graphics card, sound card, etc...). I've done virus scans even though I haven't really downloaded much onto my PC aside from iTunes, Chrome, etc.I've played around with my nVidia control panel settings, & in game graphic settings (from highest to lowest). It didn't fix the low FPS.

I am trying to use an adapter that uses RS232 communication and I have put an USB-RS232 adapter between the two. This should allow me to connect to the device and talk to it in a terminal window. However, in Windows 7 Enterprise and Home editions it works great but in Professional editions it does not.

Apparently, my version of windows is "OEM_COA_NSLP". From my research on the matter, it should read "OEM_COA_SLP".Is it anything to worry about, and if not, what is the difference between "NSLP" and "SLP"? I don't appear to be able to find anything further on the matter.

my father was going to upgrade some components in his computer like his memory, optical drives and his hard drive which is on its last limb. He is running XP Pro on his old harddrive but can't find his disc to install it on the new harddrive. He wants to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, and I know that you can get the system builders/oem versions that don't come with as hefty as a price tag which is what I got when I built my computer and everythings running great. What I wanted to know is what is the difference really between the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium for System Builders - OEM on persay, newegg and getting Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium which is about twice the price? I know it doesn't go through the windows tutorial and all that, but I was also wondering if he was having issues with windows could he call microsoft or would he be resposible for any issues with windows(not relating to simple stuff like trouble with installation)? Also, since its not entirely a new build, he still has his old motherboard in his computer, could he use the system builders/oem version without any issues? I don't know if microsoft would have anything to say, I don't want to cause him any hassel or trouble to save a few bucks. And also lets say his motherboard bites the dust in 6 months, would he have any issues using the oem windows 7 if he had to replace that and possibly had to reinstall it on the original hard drive he installed it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have not reopened my other thread that has been solved for the most part in having Realtek drivers now installed over the windows 7-ones that came with the 32 bit Ultimate. The sounds have improved greatly, but there is still less quality then what it was with XP. I would like to learn further and find appropriate drivers or software to enhance and bring out the rich bass and loud instruments. WMP 12 doesn't have sound, but videos are nice and better pictures. You tube videos play alright as does other sites that has players or use You Tube or Viehmo, etc...There appears to be a lot of issues with WMP according to my own research. If any ideas as to how I can get going w/finding how I can get regular sound as good as before with XP,

Or If I try to use a program and point it at a another program, it also wont show up any icons. Here are 2 examples:In here I am just showing you what Google shows me (The Left), and what the actual folder looks like for me if I just browse to it (The Right). In this second one.. you can see Steam shows all Icons as broken... but if I was to go to there folders myself they would all be just fine.
