Difference Between Windows 7 Ultimate And Professional
Jun 19, 2012
What are the differences between pro and ultimate. I check microsoft website and saw the ultimate has bitlocker. I have the paid professional version but im currently using a non legit copy of ultimate. Should i replace my os to win7 professional legit?
I'm wondering if i should install the ultimate or the professional edition.is the Pro lighter and quicker than ultimate?i just feel like installing ultimate would be pointless because i don't need that extra features, except the metalanguage support but i believe i will be able to install it on the pro.
I have not reopened my other thread that has been solved for the most part in having Realtek drivers now installed over the windows 7-ones that came with the 32 bit Ultimate. The sounds have improved greatly, but there is still less quality then what it was with XP. I would like to learn further and find appropriate drivers or software to enhance and bring out the rich bass and loud instruments. WMP 12 doesn't have sound, but videos are nice and better pictures. You tube videos play alright as does other sites that has players or use You Tube or Viehmo, etc...There appears to be a lot of issues with WMP according to my own research. If any ideas as to how I can get going w/finding how I can get regular sound as good as before with XP,
Why Windows 7 Home Premium ( on my laptop ) is taking up more space than the Ultimate version on my desktop? Both systems are installed, along with the application software, in the C partition of 30 GB with W7HP taking up nearly 4GB more then Ultimate. I have more applications, taking up more space, under Ultimate. Both systems have 2GB RAM, all System Restore points have been deleted, Hibernate is on and I have run both Disk Cleanup (as Administrator) and CCleaner to clear out any junk.
I bought a a serial key of Windows 7 Professional x64, but I accidentally have installed Ultimate x64. And I spent 2 weeks setting up my computer, installing soft-wares, games and other stuff. And now I figured out that the key of Professional x64 wont work on Ultimate. Is there any way to shift it to Windows 7 Professional x64 without affecting all the files and settings.
If you have installed a preview version of Windows 7 Ultimate (e.g. beta, release candidate build 7100 or RTM build 7600) and want to install a cheaper version of Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional the installation is normally refused.
But with change of a registry key whilst installation you can fake a minor version - so you can install Home Premium or Professional over existing Windows 7 Ultimate.
We need to update our server from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate in order to use BitLocker. The only upgrade we could purchase was the Windows 7 Ultimate Anytime Upgrade. We cannot get the key to work. Is this because the upgrade is intended to go from Home Premium? Is there a more appropriate upgrade sku for our situation?
I have Windows 7 ultimate installed I bought Windows 7 Professional upgrade, follwed the instructions, typed Windows Anytime Upgrade in the start box, no list comes up, only "No results found".
Am buying a new computer with Windows 7 professional installed. Have MS Office Professional 07 on old computer which died. Will MS give me another product key so I can install MS Office Professional 07 on new computer? Will I need install additional drivers?
I have checked my DELL Latitude 6500 laptop running WinXP Pro using the Windows 7 upgrade advisor tool, and everythihng is a go. I also know that I need to do a good backup of my critical files and the pictures I want to keep.I have had many people tell me that before I make such a change in operating systems, do a backup first, because Windows 7 requires a clean startup, because there is no upgrade from XP to Win7.Is there an easy way to keep these work related files, and .jpg pictures using a simpler backup process than the software backup program called Acronis?I have also read that there is a program that will run at the same time as Windows 7, like a separate operating system called XP Mode. As I understand it, XP mode runs in a separate window on the Windows 7 desktop, much like a program, except it's a fully functional version of Windows XP. In Windows XP Mode, I think you can also access your computer's CD/DVD drive, install programs, save files, and perform other tasks as if you were using a computer running Windows XP.I am not sure Acronis can be installed on this DELL Out-of-Warranty Win XP laptop, if I am currently using it for my desktop with Win 7 Ultimate. Once the critical files and .jpg photos are saved on an external hard drive, can I bring them back onto the laptop on the same harddrive with the new operating system Win 7 files, or do I need to partition the laptop harddrive, or does it matter if I use them with Win XP Mode?
I tried to do a Repair Install following this tutorial, but the Compatibility Report says:"Windows 7 Professional cannot be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You'll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select "Custom (advanced)"." I have Win 7 SP1, but only a Win 7 disc without SP1.
i am rather excited I am doing a downgrade from Windows 7 Professional OS to Windows XP SP2. The machine i am doing the downgrade is an HP 500B MT, I am using the HP Restore Plus DVD that came with the machine as well as the Operating System CD. I started the setup yesterday and it seems to be taking forever!
I am new to Windows7 and have already used WinXP. I wanted to know that what exactly is the difference between WinXP and Win7? How do we check SP on Win7?
I'm looking to put Windows 7 on the new pc I'm building and want to know what the difference is between the "OLD" version and the "NEW" version of Windows 7 is.
I recently formatted my computer running windows XP & installed Windows 7 - 64 bit. (actually, it's been about a week).I've noticed that games have been super laggy and the FPS could drop to 1 FPS from time to time. It has made it extremely difficult for me to play Starcraft II and other games.I have installed all the correct & most recent drivers for my hardware (mobo, graphics card, sound card, etc...). I've done virus scans even though I haven't really downloaded much onto my PC aside from iTunes, Chrome, etc.I've played around with my nVidia control panel settings, & in game graphic settings (from highest to lowest). It didn't fix the low FPS.
Are there differences in the registry configurations for internal USB hubs for different versions of windows 7? I am trying to use an adapter that uses RS232 communication and I have put an USB-RS232 adapter between the two. This should allow me to connect to the device and talk to it in a terminal window. However, in Windows 7 Enterprise and Home editions it works great but in Professional editions it does not.
I bought a computer from CyberPower a couple of years ago, and I recently checked up on the license status for the copy of Windows 7 I got with the computer by running the "slmgr" command, since the dealings I had with CyberPower were not as good as they could have been. Apparently, my version of windows is "OEM_COA_NSLP". From my research on the matter, it should read "OEM_COA_SLP".Is it anything to worry about, and if not, what is the difference between "NSLP" and "SLP"? I don't appear to be able to find anything further on the matter.
Can I upgrade from Windows ultimate 32bit ver 6.1 ( build 7600) to windows 7 ultimate 64bit edition and keep all of my installed programs and files ?[meaning not having them moved to a new folder called windows.old]
Is there any difference in xp, vista and windows 7 operating systems regarding. control requests over control pipe.? we have developed drivers for ndis port miniport NDIS driver.its working fine with LTE network in XP and vista. but in case of windows 7 operating systems. when we send control request to stop network to device, we are not getting response from device. we have observed Lecroys usb analyzer logs. we are not getting response. even though we its device side problem. why this issue is not happening in xp and vista.we have two applications for sending control requests to device for starting network.
1) company application. 2) mobile broad band Microsoft provided default application .
this issue happens only with company application. we have compared data in requests send by cm and mobile broadband but no difference.
my father was going to upgrade some components in his computer like his memory, optical drives and his hard drive which is on its last limb. He is running XP Pro on his old harddrive but can't find his disc to install it on the new harddrive. He wants to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, and I know that you can get the system builders/oem versions that don't come with as hefty as a price tag which is what I got when I built my computer and everythings running great. What I wanted to know is what is the difference really between the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium for System Builders - OEM on persay, newegg and getting Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium which is about twice the price? I know it doesn't go through the windows tutorial and all that, but I was also wondering if he was having issues with windows could he call microsoft or would he be resposible for any issues with windows(not relating to simple stuff like trouble with installation)? Also, since its not entirely a new build, he still has his old motherboard in his computer, could he use the system builders/oem version without any issues? I don't know if microsoft would have anything to say, I don't want to cause him any hassel or trouble to save a few bucks. And also lets say his motherboard bites the dust in 6 months, would he have any issues using the oem windows 7 if he had to replace that and possibly had to reinstall it on the original hard drive he installed it?
