this might seem weird. my dell inspiron 15R (win 7) just started hanging one day for explorer.exe. i searched on net n found that most probably it was the hdd. it was corrupted so explorer would hang when searching the drive. this problem occured only for some parts on the drive, i.e. only some folders. i restarted system n run various diagnostics-all of which were hanging up too. then after exactly an hour i accidently opened a 'damaged' folder and it opened up well. now i hv it up and running well. i still dont know what happend
We have a network of aprox 500 computers, and since putting windows seven on the computers and laptops, they intermittantly hang for up to an hour just saying "please wait". This error was supposed to be resolved with SP1 but it doesnt work. It must be one of the services holding as once it has timed out, the login box pops up and all works fine
- I have two QNAP NAS servers, which put the drives after 30 mins idle in sleep mode.
- Windows 7 network discovery sees the two NAS servers all the time.
- When you make drive mappings to shares on the NAS servers, (it seems) at random times Explorer hangs (goes into stall) when trying to browse/access files or directories. Only a reboot helps.
- I'm accessing the drives via regular SMB, no HomeGroup, no AD etc.
- When you map the drives initiallially it asks for a password. Storing that account info into the credentials manager doesn't help.
- I tried to open ports 137-139 and 445 in the firewall, but that doesn't help.
My theory is that Windows breaks by default the connection with the NAS after 15 mins of idling. That's standard behaviour. What puzzles me is that Visita didn't have this issue and Windows 7 has.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. A while ago I started to have problems with the clock time. So I started searching for answers on Google. Every topic referred to Cmos battery but I doubt it to be Cmos battery fault for one reason: My Laptop Emachine eMe442 is for like a month or more plugged in to the wall socket so in my opinion Cmos battery wouldn't be needed in idle mode or when pc is switched off to keep track of time. Right? Anyway, I been reading a topic on this site on same problem and there was proposed to check Bios time. Bios time seems to me is not working, or not even counting. So normally this started new question. Here they are:
1) Does Cmos battery keeps time running when in idle mode or pc is off, even if pc is plugged into the charger? 2) Whats the problem here, why my pc don't keep track of time? 3)How do I fix whatever is wrong with my Bios time?
Even when I switch on my pc, if I don't click on clock it doesn't start counting, and after I click on clock and synchronize with one of default servers after awhile it starts losing time.
I get a sound exactly like email notification every hour. I have turned off every possible source of notification sounds I can locate, but cannot stop this hourly chime. I have noticed that rec task is scheduled hourly in task scheduler but cannot fine any indication that it has a notification button. I can, and do, mute the speakers for most of the day but when listening to audio/movies the sound comes through the speakers loud and clear.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, builder version, SP 1 part of install disk.Just upgraded my case, transferred all equipment (on static mat with grounding strap to me attached to case), plugged everything back in. When I booted up, posted fine, got to login screen fine, then when it got to "Welcome" screen, it seemed to just sit with the "loading" circle constantly spinning.I can get into safe mode with no problem. Running repair with disk returned with no errors. The only thing I changed internally was -1 front usb connection, and I now have my HDD and Optical drive hooked into SATA 6 ports, before Optical was SATA 6 port and HDD was SATA 3 port. BIOS is seeing HDD and Optical at correct locations.when I loaded up safe mode, I got a message saying the computer had to be restarted for changes to take effect. All updates to Windows must be approved by me before downloading and installing.

I have been running a very stable build of Windows 7 x64 for about a year now and I decided to update my MOBO and purchase an SSD to be my new OS drive.I've booted the DVD (2 copies) and formated both my SAMSUNG and my KINGSTON drive's and created my PRIMARY partition on the SSD. I have tried installing it 4 different times with 2 seperate disk and each time it finishes "Expanding Files" the "Installing Features" finishes instantly (a second passes and the checkbox appears next to it).
my Windows 7 hanged today after I moved my SoundCard on the PCI slot, and got Bluescreen hardware error, I tried restarting the computer, now it just hangs on Windows 7 is Loading screen.
I am having an issue booting my Windows 7 image on some custom built hardware. The issue is, we'll say 1/10 times booting, the boot freezes when Windows says "Starting Windows, and the first red pixel of the animation comes into view. After this, as per forums here, I enabled boot logging. The boot log does not seem to log anything when the freeze occurs. This makes me think there is an issue with the BIOS. This is a custom BIOS, and I am working with the manufacturer to try and see if they will send me an update, or at least do more research on this. Here are my ntbtlog.txt file results. They seem to be consistent. Should I be concerned with any of the drivers that did not load?
My computer has been taking a while to boot. Over an hour or so. But today i realized when i was surfing the internet it was taking longer than usual. I already searched the internet and tried some on the things like defragging, Services upon start up. Nothing worked. I am assuming a virus might be the cause. I can load safe mode up no problem.
i have had windows 7 64bit version installed for a couple months on my pc, and these 2 days it's kept rebooting. it goes off (no shut down message, it all happens all of a sudden), and after a second or 2 the machine boots up again. before loading the os the pc prompts me to choose if i want to start windows normally. i press enter and windows starts up with no problems at all. when a system error occurs, after rebooting it usually notifies me that the system was recovered from an error. but it displays no message.
now, my question is this. i heard that before the coming out of the windows seven final version, microsoft would have you install an update that reboots your machine every 2 hrs to "suggest" people buying the os... how kind of them, really... whatever, is this possibly the case? if this is, i guess i gonna downgrade to windows vista till i can buy windows 7.
My PC restarts every one hour without blue screen. My PC System is :Intel DG33BU_Intel Core2Duo E6550 @ 2.33 GHz (2 CPUs)2 GB RAM160 GB HDATI Radeon HD 5450 (1 GB DDR3)Another thing is that whenever i try to shut down it goes to shutdown mode normally but again it restarts automatically...When i see in Event viewer it shows :" The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. [CODE]
Whenever I am away from my computer for a while and the switch user screen comes on where you have to click on the user name comes up to get back to my desktop I get the following msg comes up

Outlook 2003 works fine on my computer with Windows 7 - except for one annoyance. When I first open Outlook, it loads immediately. However, when I exit (using the red X), and then try to reopen Outlook, it hangs up. When I use CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, I find two instances of Outlook running! If I end the process on the one using the most memory, Outlook then opens immediately. I am having a similar problem with Windows Media Player. Again, it's not a majopr problem but a real nuisance.
I have been having some weird problems on my laptop. I first did a memtest using memtest86 4.0 and that came up clean. I am now doing a disk check and it was progressing fine till now. the screen says stage 5 of 5 97% (82135612 of 84678825 free clusters processed) for over and hour and the HDD light is no longer on. any advice as to what I should do? I have heard that forcing the system to reboot during a disk check can ruin your system so I don't want to do that.
I've searched around the internet but to no avail. Numerous Windows applications that come with the OS, such as Uninstall a Program, View Network Status, and so on will not start when I try to run them. For example, if I go into the Control Panel and select one of them, the Control Panel window freezes for a minute or two, nothing happens, and then it's back to normal again. The selected program does not start. I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The only new things I've installed are drivers for the hardware, and Skype, and Chrome. The hardware itself is presumably not causing the problem, and it's a nice system so it's not some sort of lack of processing power that's causing it. I've already tried reinstalling the entire operating system. The user account I'm on is an administrator account. Some applications such as Device Manager work just fine.
I noticed strange things about my HDD. (I have Windows 7 installed on my SDD, and not on the HDD). Says a weird sound and then sounds like it's charging up somehow, during this Windows lags. It usually happens when I Shutdown my machine. After the process, Windows will shut down immediately. Says "Not Responding" sometimes. And it says it at very silly places, like changing the wallpaper. During this, I can see the HDD activity constant lights on. Maybe I should get a new one.
I've got two hard drives on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system. They are drives C: (a solid-state drive) and drive D: (a 500GB WD standard drive). After 30 minutes, drive D: powers down to save energy. I've only got a few video files on it - I use it as a media drive. I'll be using the system just fine. When I open up Windows Explorer, and RIGHT-CLICK on any file on drive C: (the solid-state drive), there is a pause while I have to wait for drive D: to power up, and get up to speed (about 8 seconds). Then, the system responds again. My question: Why is this? I'm not looking at any files on D:, why does Windows need to power it back up at all when I am dealing with drive C:?
Tried installing using flash drive and Dvd but same error both times. Used the image last week and all went fine. I have created a new partition on an existing 500gb seagate hardrive which I would like to install windows on. This partition E: is 100GB and the other partition G: has all my media and software etc. Do I have to change the partition I want Windows on to C:?
So in the past week, my computer has started freezing. After about an hour of use, the screen will freeze. Sound will still play for a while and the mouse still moves. But other than that, it completely freezes.
Ctl+alt+del doesn't do anything and I have to manually shut it down.
Sometimes if it sits for a while and I don't mess with anything it will black screen and tell me to insert bootable media.
My computer is only about a year old and I put it together myself. I have an 64 GB SSD with Windows 7 intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz CPU 8 GB of RAM EVGA GTX 570
My graphics drivers are up to date. My registry seems in order. I have no virus' showing up under my scans. My PSU doesn't seem to be overheating. Memory test in my BIOS shows fine My case has plenty of airflow HD tune pro doesn't show any bad sectors And I've cleaned up with CCleaner
Since a day or 4/5 my internet disconnects exactly every hour for a couple of secconds. I don't know how it started but its pretty annoying and i really would like some help with this problem, i searched the internet i've done a full antivirus scan couldnt find anything.
I recently started having problems where my computer will randomly BSOD. After that i get an error saying no boot manager can found and I just have to manually restart my computer. Ill attach the diagnostics .zip
I can not play the game The Sims 3, I have all the add-on at the moment. After an hour of playing my game, and you receive a black screen and the taskbar. By the middle of the screen the message a crash with a proposal to stop now. After that I see the error logs.Do not understand why the game crashes on my new computer, the other plays the superior Tae Sims 3 run without crashes.Else noticed this feature. When I play in The Sims 3 PC starts to make noise more than when I was just surfing the internet or watch movies.
I've been lately having some problems with my Alienware m15x gaming laptop. It used to work like a dream and all the games worked very well too. But now I've been expreriencing low fps (5-20) while it used to be 60-80, and the overall performance has been low too. This starts after about 1 hour of playing. I'm pretty sure it started after using wrong power adapter for 2 weeks. Now I'm using the correct one. I can't remember if I had the problem with the wrong adapter but I think it started after switching back to the normal. I've run virus scans (malwarebytes whole computer scan and flash scan, and whole computer scan with Avast) and they haven't found anything.
My issue didn't start till about 4 months ago. Whenever playing an online game such as Team Fortress 2 it would slow down (lag) or be choppy at times. Wouldn't happen everyday, till about a month ago, when the beeping started. It happens every hour, it is a weak beep but it comes from the inside of my computer. Also, I can't run Team Fortress 2 without it crashing every 5-10 minutes of playing. I have also noticed my whole computer has become a lot slower. I'd like to know if this can be fixed or if I should just get rid of this computer and get a new one.
I am using desktop system windows 7 OS and it was working properly till last Friday when I was working on that day my monitor became fully white and system hang up so I restarted my system, that time on wards some time its restarts and sometimes its showing resolution issue line fully doted or lines etc.. so I thought it may be some RAM issue so I checked the RAM it is working properly and i checked the BIOS also but no use I face the same problem, what should I do to sort this problem,
ive been having these BSOD problems for a couple weeks.. they seem to occur only when i start my computer in the morning and do it a lot for the first hour or so, then seem to quit for the rest of the day.. ive changed all drivers and completely reformatted and reinstalled windows too... no luck?
I'm having this problem of BSOD ever since I bought this custom built computer in Jan 2010. Once I've played more than 1 hour of game, either online or not, it's very likely to have BSOD sooner or later. Today, I experienced this 3 times!! I've ran Driver Update and it says "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE controller" is not up to date but I couldn't find any update for it, so I tried disable it then I can play more than 6 hours. However, after I left the computer for 3 hours and came back with BSOD again. Before I try the disable, I have error code of "Driver IRQL not less or equal", but for the last BSOD this didn't should up. Here's my computer info:OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 2.67GHzInstalled memory (RAM): 4.00GB (3.00GB usable)NVIDIA GeforceGT 240 version 296.10
