m having an issue frequently with my hp pavilion dv6 laptop.the thing is the cursor starts to freeze and becomes so slow which leads to a system crash.the system begins to hang/cursor freezes,at the same time i can hear the cpu fan sound high.and wen i restart it,it works fine for some sessions.can any tell me wat to do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days ago my computer started acting a bit wonky, certain applications running slowly and eventually crashing. I assumed this was caused by some sort of Trojan or other virus and I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and MSE. Nothing came up for MBAM but there were three issues with MSE, two I then rooting in some java app. I thought this was the issue but it continued. The computer starts up fine and I haven't had BSOD so far, but not application, even explorer browsers, freeze up within 30 seconds of use. The issue with the sound lagging was just at first noticed with a few games I played. The announced messages would stutter for a minute even though it was a 3 second phrase.I'm posting this from my phone because I'm running a chkdsk scan on my computer again, but nothing showed up the first time.

My problem is that sometimes my sound goes really high when there isnt any bass playing. When high bass, the sound goes lower. Im also using headphones. The only similarity of these two is the OS so I am kinda sure this is a problem caused only in Windows 7 RC.When I was using Windows XP the system and game and sound run fine. However, after I switched the OS of both machines to Windows 7 RC, I realized that the sound pops very often and also drops game performance (Ex. WoW). This problem never occured in Win XP.I am pretty sure there is nothing to do with my sound card driver too because this problem doesn't only happen when I am using the onboard sound card but also Logitech USB Headset.Sound seems fine under normal usage, but it pops A LOT when I play games. The music and effects pop very often and drop the game performance a lot which causes the game almost unplayable. FPS drops when sound pops. My system is not muted I have tried to update the driver from both Realteks and MSIs web pages - no luck. I have tried to connect my headphones in both rear and front - no luck. When I play audio - I do see green bars in under the playback tab under sound devices. I do have the Realtek HD Audio Manager I have noticed that when I mark "Disable front panel jack detection" in the Realtek HD audio manager, the headphones appears to be connected in the playback tab, when I uncheck it, the headphones seems to be disconnected in the playback tab.
I've upgraded from vista to 7 and I am getting no sound, I've searched, searched and tried alot of different things, I see alot of people on this forum with the same issues, but I've tried most of them. I've installed and unistalled all the different drivers from realtek, but no luck. I have realtek high definition sound but no hdmi output. In my device manager it says the sound driver is installed properly, but when I tried to test the sound it fails to test tone, I don't know if it has to deal with an audio codec. I have regular speaker that connect to a sound jack. At this point I am quite desperate. I've spent all night trying to figure this out.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi've done a fair amount of reading and searching on cpu usage in windows 7 (both beta & rc 1) and haven't had any luck with this issue yet.
the issue i'm having is my cpu usage spikes up to 80-100% very often and performance of any other task during this period is frustratingly laggy. these spikes happen from even the simplest action ranging from opening the start menu, to scrolling through text on a webpage and worst of all playing video (Internet is my benchmark tool, 80% usage guaranteed during video play).
using any web browser with 3+ tabs open is guaranteed to spike cpu usage over 50%. multitasking in general begets a sluggish os performance.
some of the solutions i've read and tried:
installing nvidia's windows 7 video drivers, no improvement.
disabling the hd audio in device manager seems to help a lot of people, i don't have this in my device manager.
sound drivers/devices also seem to be a leading source of cpu over-usage in a lot of cases. i've tried disabling/removing my sound card, drivers, and audio services to no avail. i initially had a sound card and on-board sound (ac97) running and disabling one of the two had a minor improvement in performance but nothing spectacular.
even with both disabled the cpu usage still spikes to 90-100% during video play, not to mention the video stutters and stops often.
i also had on-board lan in addition to a wireless card installed so i've switched between the two, disabling one or the other with no marked improvement.
setting the page file to manual control with a 4+ gb size setting, no difference.
disabling aero, using a windows 7 classic theme, no dice.
i like to think that my hardware is strong enough to handle video streaming/playing without maxing out the cpu but if you think i'm mistaken then feel free to let me know. my windows 7 performance score was somewhere around 3.4. i've also watched the process explorer extensively and i can't find any service that sticks out terribly.
any ideas? any diagnostic tools you guys would recommend?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 ultimate sp1 - Like the title says I'm seeing 35% cpu usage with nothing going on. I googled around and ran traces to see which driver it was, turned out the ahci driver was doing it. The USB driver showed similarly high latency but that can be delt with later. Most forums recommend upgrading your drivers but this problem has stayed constant both with microsoft's stock drivers for everything and after running windows built in search for drivers even after I manually grabbed the latest drivers for everything. url...BIOS is up to date4 GB RAM - Corsair something or otherEVGA Geforce 8800 GT450W psu1 DVD burner (sata)5 hard drives (sata) plugged into all but the first sata port because that caused nothing but headaches for me. Update - switching from AHCI to IDE in BIOS fixed the problem.

Essentially I am getting seemingly random spikes in my cpu usage where it ramps up to 100% and windows basically freezes for an extended period of time. Sometimes I simply have 1 google chrome tab open with no other apps actively running in the foreground and I get these cpu spikes. I just did a clean install of windows 7 to try and eradicate this and it persists. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. What is odd is even though the cpu usage spikes at 100% my available memory is almost always nearly around 50% still. So I am just not sure what is happening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having some frustrating issues with Windows Explorer (on Windows 7), and I've pinpointed the cause to one stubborn wmv file on my external hard drive.Whenever Explorer accesses the location of this wmv file (unfortunately the root directory), the green bar at the top starts slowly running, presumably trying to load the thumbnail of that wmv file. This wreaks havoc everywhere, as any other folders I navigate to then have missing thumbnails that will not load... and when I go to "Computer", it's completely empty and the green bar atop runs indefinitely, but never makes any progress... only heating my computer frustratingly.Furthermore, when I restart explorer, the error "the remove procedure call failed" shows. Logging off or pressing Ctrl+N in explorer have provided temporary solutions so far.

Whenever I transfer a large file over the network to another system the mouse and other applications will persistently hang for a second here and there as long as the transfer is in progress. I'm sending 8-10GB files over from the secondary 2TB 5400RPM drive and no resources are showing as maxed out so I don't get it. I'm thinking of trying a 3rd party file transfer solution again, but this still shouldn't be happening with the default.

Abnormally High CPU Usage
Extremely low FPS - After 5-20 Mins of play.
Extremely High latency to servers - from 300 - 900 after 5 - 20 mins of play.

So why on earth would these games lag??? IT's DRIVING ME INSANE! I can't play them without a lag and my system specs are above the "REQUIRED" system requirements to run the games.
1. There are no additional process's running in my process's that are chewing up my memory and slowing my pc down.
2. PhYsix is set to auto so it selects the best CPU for physix controlled games. And I've also tried both.
3. My games are run in the LOWEST possible game and graphic specs to try make it
less laggy, to no avail.
4. 3d is "disabled". So it can't be slow.
5. I do not have any virus's, and all my display drivers are correctly installed and up to date.
Okay so a couple of problems. When I don't use my computer, the harddisk light is on. Not blinking, just flashing with no pause. I'm having some lag spikes when I boot and it says "Welcome", I checked my Event Viewer and it said: (DeviceHarddiskVolume1WindowsSystem32msiexec.exe) .. some registry error was generated. It seems like msiexec is some sort of bootup tool having contact with my HarddiskVolume1?

View 4 Replies View Relatedlately i have been having alot of trouble with my pc, it crashes for about 0.5 seconds every 5 to 10 seconds and makes a weird buzzing noise which has different pitches depending on the sound of the video/game. this is only when viewing Internet videos or playing games. the games i play i am 100% sure i can handle with my pc since i have played them before this problem. if it helps, my graphics card is my brothers old graphics card which he didnt have any trouble with but my old graphics card (ati radeon hd 5670) was having a different kind of lag problem which made almost any game play slow, even 2d games. it can be stopped if i keep restarting my computer and in the end it will stop lagging for like an hour or so but then the lagging starts again please help! i will leave my computer specs below.

I use a normal HP mouse, it has been working fine for ages but recently it now and then stops working for a few seconds and then works fine again. I play Call of Duty 4 so it is very annoying to lose because of that. I looked into my device manager and for some reason it shows up 2 mouse drivers. Just uninstalled both and plugged my mouse back in. I have done this before and the second mouse driver seems to be coming back all the time.
