SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Sep 11, 2009I have a SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC driver and beffore I installed Windows 7 I had XP. Now I don´t get 2.1 sound system to work. Only desktop speakers are working. When i plug subwoofer into the jack it wont work. However when I connected the sub. computer recognizes it and shows me that I connected sub. But theres not any sound out of the sub. Can anyone help me ?

May 20, 2009I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RC110G and installed Windows 7 RC 32 bit and it went smoothly 'cept for 2 missing drivers. The main one is the sound device as it is NOT being read. I can't get any sound. I spent several hours on the net looking for a compatiable driver, and alot of people ran into trouble with the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec when they upgraded to Vista. Tested a bunch of drivers (from Sony site and even updated sound drivers from Dell) and none worked.
Even downloaded some program called detective driver to help me find compatiable driver but I'd have to pay $30 to activate the program. I would but Im afraid it might not find it.

Jan 12, 2009I have a 4.1 creative sound system and i can barelly hear the rear speakers , i can only adjust the DB Room Adjustment of the speakers if im in 5.1 OR 7.1 mode. Even then its not great ..
Why though not QUAD enable toom adjustment?
Also there is alot of annoying distortion through the rears..

Feb 3, 2009I just have installed Windows 7 B1 on my machine. I replaced the default sound drivers from M$ with the ones from NVIDIA and VIA for my board. It is a M3N78 which has (among others) a S/PDIF (or digital) output. I have this connected to a Creative Inspire 5.1. This configuration works quite well under Windows XP. Under Windows 7 I don't hear anything. Any clue how to fix that? In Sound settings or hardware manager there is nothing wrong detected.

My system is not muted I have tried to update the driver from both Realteks and MSIs web pages - no luck. I have tried to connect my headphones in both rear and front - no luck. When I play audio - I do see green bars in under the playback tab under sound devices. I do have the Realtek HD Audio Manager I have noticed that when I mark "Disable front panel jack detection" in the Realtek HD audio manager, the headphones appears to be connected in the playback tab, when I uncheck it, the headphones seems to be disconnected in the playback tab.

Jul 5, 2012I recently purchased a used computer from a random individual. it is a powerspec 7123 and appears to be recently reformatted with fresh install. I get home, hook up the basics (ethernet, keyboard, mouse, monitor) open and reboot it installed about a dozen updates. I am downloading programs like java, flash, and I notice i have no sound and the little speaker icon in bottom right corner has the red X on it. I dont know if it was this way BEFORE the updates or not. I have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, always get the "driver not properly installed" message. Im sure more information is needed but I am not terribly computer savvy I kinda just fumble around with common sense so please ask for whatever specific info you need and how i might go about getting it (tech programs with logs to post and what not).

May 19, 2009i'm having issues with the realtek HD audio drivers. i just installed the latest version (2.24 i think) and i have no sound. note, i did not have a prior working version under windows 7 - i just installed windows 7 RC today for the first time.
one possible issue is that it appears to be using the wrong codec - i believe that i need the ALC882 codec, but in windows 7, it appears to have installed the ALC885 codec.
anyone know how to change the codec?

Sep 28, 2009I previously had a stuttering issue on "only" music playback with my SigmaTel High Definition CODEC, but after rolling back my drivers to the default Microsoft tones, the audio stuttering disappeared.
Since I have never used Microsoft audio drivers, are they of the same quality as the SigmaTel's? My current version is: 6.1.7600.16385
Any issues with keeping this default Microsoft HD Audio driver?

HDMI Sound Works But Audio Jack Not Working
Jan 17, 2013I built a barebone kit and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I installed all the drivers correctly but for some reason Windows keeps detecting the front audio jack as if someone is repeatedly pushing in and out headphones(no pun intended). Audio doesn't work at all through front and back audio jacks, only HDMI. I only get static from the audio jacks.

May 11, 2011Starting about a month ago, after six to seven months of my laptop working fine, I've been getting video and audio stuttering whenever gaming or watching most HD videos and after messing around with my drivers I realized that whenever my Realtek HD Audio drivers are disabled my video runs flawlessly, but when enabled both video and audio stutter. I'm using a Sony VAIO laptop so I'm assuming that the sound card isn't easily replaceable. I've tried using the newest drivers straight from Realtek's website and also the outdated driver provided by Sony's website, both of which result in the same stuttering. Sony has also replaced the motherboard once and it did not resolve the issue.I'm currently running Windows 7 with 6gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 330M graphics card.

Dec 29, 2012I'm having problems with my sound, I'm getting a very loud buzzing sound and nothing else. My computer is only a year old (self built) and I have never had this problem before, I got home from grocery shopping and it was buzzing.
What I did to try and fix it:
- thought headset was broken, used speakers, still buzzing
- used windows troubleshooting, said my port wasn't being detected, fiddled with it a bit and tried front ports. front ports causing buzzing as well
- checked for driver update, nothing
- uninstalled driver (buzzing stopped)
- re-installed driver and buzzing started again
So, i do think the problem is the driver, but i have no clue what to do about it.
