I just installed more ram for my computer, i was running with 8bg total with 4 2bg sticks and i had some troubles with my first ram slot not working correctly so i switched to 2 4bg sticks a 2bg stick in the three remaining. after checking my ram available it is showing 5.99gb available. Just wondering if there is some tips as to why this might be happening? my bios hasnt been updated since 2009 and is a ASUS P7P55 LX.
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit - Has 8gb of ram (4x2gb), but system is only showing 3.99 usable. (Asus p7p55d board, Intel Core i7 860 - 2.80ghz)Slot 4 has a different 2gb card in it than the others (though still corsair)I've attached some CPUz SPD snips
Windows is only showing my 4gb of ram as 1.99gb usable. It used to be high although I cannot remember the value. I know that for sure because my ram score used to be 7. something and my hdd was lowest score of 5.9, now ram is the lowest with 5.5. Any ideas?
all the files on the C Drive including the hidden file account for 37.3GB with 8.78GB free with Vertex 2's total space of 55.7. Meaning that i have 9.62GB space missing.

I have a lenovo ideapad z565 labtop running windows 7 64bit with 4GB installed memory. this morning i bought 8GB memory to upgrade the memory of the pc. I removed 1 2GB stick and installed the 8GB to make it 10GB. when i check the memory in the BIOS it shows 0245 but when i boot to desktop it show 10GB. performance of the machine just like the running the pc on 4GB. anyone has an idea of what i can do to boost the performance?
ok so if i go into my computer and click on my c drive then highlight everything in there it says that i have 56gb space taken up but when i click on the hard drive itself and go to properties it says 66 gb is taken up. i have hidden files shown so i dont know where this 10 gb has gone. this happed after i turned on restore points and gave it 10 gbs but i deleted that in the screen and turned it off at the same time and it is still gone?
I have been mostly a Mac user and I have been out of the loop for sometime (5yrs). I have some data that I need to have burned (user folder) that is 10gb. I would like to have this burned to DVD. What is a good program that would allow me to just drag the folder into the program and it will automatically burn multiple DVDs. Is Nero still top notch or has something replaced it? This software would be for a PC.
I have 6144mb of ram on my Compaq Presario CQ62 402AU. So I have the 2GB Hp stick which came with the laptop (2GB DDR3 1066MHz) and I have a 4GB stick from G-Skill). So there should be 5.76GB usable, but I only have 1.74GB usable. This is what is it when I only had the 2GB. The Bios says there is 6144GB in there. Windows says there 6.0GB in there also.
So what I have tried: - Running Mem Tests (HP one which came with my laptop and Memtestx86) - Taking out the ram and putting them in there sorts again - Taking out the ram, running a pencil eraser over the connecters and then putting them back in - Doing testing so Only 1 is in and try that in both slots for both sticks of ram - Swapping the ram positions - Making sure that Max ram is not selected in Msconfig
So basic System info you may want to know (Most of my profile info is there of my computer) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit SP1 Installed Memory (Ram) (This is from the basic system info page) 6.00GB (1.74GB Usable). The odd thing is that it worked fine for a while. Today I went to school with the 5.76GB and I come back home 8 hours later, the computer has only been on lock for this time and there is only 1.76GB usable.
My laptop specsWindows says only 3gb out of the 4 I have installed are usable, why is that? Can I do something so that all 4 are usable?Attached is my dxdiag fileThis is my msinfo32 file: url...
i am running windows 7 Home premium 64-bit and recently upgraded my RAM from 3GB to 4GB. Windows 7 reports only 3.25 being usable. i have a dedicated video card an my onboard one is definitely disabled. my BIOS reports 4096MB RAM detected. max memory and CPU are unchecked in msconfig. from looking at the resource monitor i see that 770MB of RAM is labeled as hardware reserved memory.also i don't know if my BIOS supports a memory remap feature or not but even if it does its a locked HP BIOS so most setting are inaccessible.is there any way to get my full memory? or does anyone know why this is happening on a 64-bit os?
Under my Windows 7 performance information it is listed that I have 2.5 Gigs of usable RAM even though I have 4 installed. I think this is because I have 1.5 GB of graphics memory but I don't fully understand what that is. I also don't understand the difference between the listed "dedicated graphics memory(512MB)" and the "shared system memory" that I guess make up the 1.5 GB I'm "missing".I was thinking of installing a 64 bit version of my OS to take full advantage of my installed memory and I think my system is fully capable. I just need to have the right processor and enough memory to make it worth it correct? I assume my motherboard is capable if it is using a capable processor.
New member here hoping to get help with my new windows 7 32 bit system.I have just switched all of my data over from windows XP to a new computer with this operating system only to realize that I will not be able to use the extra (16GB) of memory I just purchased.Am I stuck with the 2.89 GB usable unless I load windows 7 64 bit system? It was really dificult for me to get everything transfered over to my new computer especially all of my outlook stuff (rules, files, etc.)Would I be able to back everything up, and just transfer it to the new windows 7 64 bit system installation?
Earlier tonight I rebooted and noticed that it took an extremely long time to boot. Almost 10 minutes to get the desktop completely loaded. So I checked task manager > performance tab and it says I have only 256mb of RAM. So then I checked My Computer > Properties and noticed it said "Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (256 MB Usable)" I've had Windows 7 installed for a good 2 weeks now and never had a problem, until I rebooted tonight. I checked my BIOS and all my sticks show up. I DO NOT have a shared memory video card. Memory test checked out fine. I haven't installed any new hardware, nor touched the sticks at all. why Windows 7 started doing this?
If I looked for a file on my system using Windows XP, I could tell the search where (which drive) to check for the file. The Windows 7 version seems to me to only search generally and, for example when I searched for 'MS Office Excel Converter' which I know was on a memory stick which the system had set to drive J:, the Windows 7 search could not find it. How can I get to a more usable search facility in Windows 7
Today I noticed that my system is only using 3072mb of RAM, I have 4 GB in my system and they used to work pretty nice until now, before all 4 were usable, now Im missing 1. I thought this was because ram remap feature was diabled on the bios (BTW here's my board : Biostar G31 M7 TE). So I enabled it and rebooted my system. Turns out it's still the same... I tried also enabling the memory hole to 15-16 mb (the only setting appart from diables) same results. I think this is decreasing my PC's performance... edit: what seems to be doing this is the ''pci mmio allocation''
I have Win7 64bit with 6GB memory. The Windows System control panel agrees with that showing 6GB ram and nothing about a limitation. But today I was opening a lot of files and the program wouldn't let me open more files after Windows memory use reached 4GB. Task Manager showed 4GB used out of 6GB. I tried opening another file with a different program and my screen flickered and the program shut itself off, so it looks like the problem is with Windows and not the other programs. How do I get Windows to use all available memory not just 4GB out of 6GB?
As the title says, I only have 3.19 gb of RAM usable on a 64bit OS with 8 gb installed. I have checked my BIOS, it is up-to-date, but old. I have also checked Window's Resource Monitor, it knows 8gb is installed, but like earlier, can only use 3.19.Yes I am positive it is 64 bit. My motherboard is p45turbotwins2000. It recognizes that my RAM is installed.I have 2x4 gb DDR3 sticks.I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Nothing except Firefox has been installed. All Windows updates are installed.
For some odd reason, my new Windows 7 32 bit laptop is constantly using 40+ precent of it's installed RAM. I checked my computer's properties and found that Windows is only using 2.84 gigs of my computer's 4 gigs of ram. Is there any way I can force it to use 4 gigs? Or at least, force it to use more than my current amount? I have attached a screenshot of my computer's RAM specs.
I have an older desktop, Acer Aspire running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, it had 4gb ram installed (I did know that only 3gb could be used)yesterday I took one of the ram sticks out ( had 4 x 1gb) and put in a different computer. Since then it has started crawling along, I have noticed that it says 3gb ram 1 gb usable. is this something that I need to go into the bios for? I ran the memory diagnostic tool this morning but did not get to see a report.
I have quite a new ASUS laptop, which came with 64bit windows 7 and I took off and installed my copy of Windows 7 32bit (I didn't see the point in having 64bit on a laptop).
When I first installed the OS and everything Windows said I had 3.25GB ram usable or something like that which is normal but for some reason I now only have 2.92 usable and I don't know why >.< (this may have happened when SP1 was installed)
The specs are: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz 4GB DDR3 Ram Intel HD Graphics Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset 320GB 5400RPM HDD

I have 4g of ram. In control panel it is listed 4.00gb RAM(Only 2.00gb usable) I have 2x(2g) sticksMemory hole remapping is enabled. Max memory is unchecked.I have an M4A785-M motherboard.I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. This problem started happening a couple weeks ago.
Okay, this is really weird. Previously, I had had a ordered a kit of 4GB ram with one defective stick. After installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with the good stick, I RMA'd the kit back to newegg. The exchange arrived today, and after installing the new kit of ram, windows only recognizes 3.26GB of it! Under the system information panel, it says:
Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.26 useable)
despite me having a 64 bit OS.
Whats up with this? I Memtested the ram and it shows up as only 3255 MB in there also.
decided to install hardware with my computer on and i sliped while putting a pci card in and hit su,tin that booted off my computer. now when i got it back on i have this message in my system properties "4.00 GB installed (3.25 GB usable)" anyone know hot to fix this. im using windows 7 ultimate X64. i think i may have either hit the GPU or a capacitor?
So I have had the MSDN AA version of Windows 7 64-bit for quite some time now and this has never shown up until after I did the latest update. Was wondering if this was out of the ordinary.
I have installed windows 7 64 bit version on new computer with a 64 bit processor Quad CPU Q8200 233 ghz , I have 4x2gb of DDR2 800 RAM 8gb in total all are same frequency but it lists only (3.19 gb usable) after the 8gb in computer properties.
why isnt windows 7 accessing all my RAM as this is why I moved to 64 bit ?
I have a computer that is running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. It has 6 GB of RAM installed, but it says that 3.00 GB are usable. My understanding is that Ultimate 32 bit can handle 4 GB of RAM. What do I have setup in correctly?
