I have windows 7 64 bit on a home grown computer and experince a freeze once the pc is left idle for along period. It isnt consistent in that some of the time I can shake the mouse and after a short nonresponse period the os kicks in. Could use ideas and/or help.
I sent my computer into my local repair shop telling them that it freeze's and such. They ran a diagnostic saying that my hard drive was defective. 100 dollars later. They installed it got it back. Installed all the disk and now I'm still having the same probablem. Could it be something else internally. I have a
Intel core 2 quad processor Q8300 8 gb ram Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti Asus p5g43t-m pro Windows 7 home premium
My computer was superfast until it started giving problems. It literally takes 30 minutes to start up and it freezes every 2 minutes. The Windows Experience Index showed a rating of 7.9 for the processor but now it only shows 4.9. The pc is quite new, I bought it 19 months ago.
Here are the specifications: Motherboard - Intel Desktop Boards DH67BL Media Series Processor - Intel CORE i5 Hard drive - Western Digital 500GB RAM - 2 Kingston DIMM 2GB DDR3 (4GB) OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
How can I fix my pc or at least stop it from freezing.
If I wait too long (maybe 1-2min) to login on the startup screen, the windows freezes! This never happens if I login right away and almost 100% if I wait.
My windows is acting so sporadically, freezing up, taking forever to open a site. I can get to mail but then cannot open it. I don't know what else to do but try another repair install. I cannot find a tutorial on it.
I recently installed Windows 7 RC to my laptop and am facing a problem now. Sometimes when I plug in an USB Hard-drive or a ZEN MP3 player, the system does a full lock-up.
I had 7 Beta on the laptop earlier and it had no problems whatsoever. Anyone else experienced/solved similar problems or should I just go try and reinstall?
i just got this brand new hp pavillion dv4-204 1 nr entertainment notebook and it seems like no matter what, it always freezes. i thought this was supposed to be the non-freezing version of windows??
i can't even load a Internet video for 2 seconds before it freezes, then i have to close the program (it happens in the computer, control panel, video chat, skype...etc, basically every program)
what do i do? i'm seriously sickkkk of windows 7!! it sucks!!
I installed win 7 RTM build 7600, the install process finished without any problems.
but after first reboot, the OS doesn't work, i see the main screen , but when i click on some icon, or press start etc. the system freeze for 10 min (aprox...)
after that the operation preformed, and the when i click on anothrer icon (do another operation) it freeze again.
I'm trying to install Windows 7 32bit on one of my drives via Vista, I click install on the DVD and click the drive. It does the first stage of installing and expanding files (whatever that is!). Then it restarts.. upon restart it boots onto Windows Setup and I get the logo which glows for a while then freezes.
I've looked this up and i've removed ram so I just have 1stick of 1gig and i've unplugged various USB items except my keyboard and mouse and still get the issue.
I've been using Windows 7 RC x64 6.1.7100 for about a month now, and i've used K-Lite to watch videos without running into any problems.
But for the past 3 days anytime i play a video, windows 7 will lock up sometimes in a few minutes and sometimes it will take longer. Keyboard commmands dont work.
This happens with K-Lite , VLC and WMP.
I have tried uninstalling K-Lite and installing the latest codecs, this didnt work. I have also tried Windows 7 Codecs ( Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs )
My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3850, i had the latest Windows 7 drivers installed, I uninstalled those and installed the drivers for Vista, same problem.
any ideas of what could be wrong or something i have done or have not done?
Whenever my PC is idle for a while (haven't timed it but I think it's about 30 min.) it will switch to the blue login screen. I've never actually seen the login screen since I don't use a password, but I'm assuming it is. Blue screen, shows my name and icon, ease of use button on bottom left, etc. Anyways, I don't really want Windows to DO this, so can someone tell me where I can change those settings? I already tried changing all of the Power settings but it still does it. Oh, BTW I do not use a screen saver either.
It appears as if if I have a huge memory leak as a fresh boot with minimal start-up programs idles at 1.85gb used... nothing showed in task monitor so I dug deeper with RamMap... I've included a bunch of screen shots and can't for the life of me figure out what this is. I've uninstalled anything I didnt use + cleaned all the temp files and cache + ran Malware + did a virus scan.
I have screensaver disabled through personalize menu and command prompt. I have sleep/hibernation disabled through power options and reg edit. I have every power option set to not hibernate, sleep, go to screen saver, or anything. I have disabled every possible thing I could find that would cause a blank, black screen to appear whenever I don't touch my pc for an amount of time. And yet, I still get the black screen when my pc is idle. Why? How can I stop it? It's annoying and I have zero interest in having it.
I'm brand new to the message board and have been experiencing BSOD messages for about a week. In the BSOD it said something about; "PAGE_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" Also here were some error codes it gave off too in the BSOD.
Why is this. Like 10 minutes plus and it still says recycling. It should only take a second. Is it bad to let it continue at its own pace or should I restart the PC and try it again?
I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version)
I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32
Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)
Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit
When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only".
I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.
I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.
I purchased the Win 7 Pro Upgrade 32bit via digitalriver, but I've been doing some reseach and probably should have selected the 64bit version.
- Any ideas how I can get the 64bit version?
- For those who ordered the 32bit back-up disc kit for the extra $15 and have received it, does it come with both 32bit & 64bit?
- I've already installed and activated the 32bit version, but when I go to install the 64bit version, will I need to / is there a way to deactivate my initial 32bit install or will this not matter?
I'm currently running 32-bit Windows 7 (Professional, full version) on my laptop, and want to use this machine to create a bootable USB drive with 64-bit Windows 7 (also Professional, full version). I tried going through the steps that are available on various tutorials online, but I'm always tripped up while attempting to use bootsect to make the drive bootable; basically I get an error saying that I need to be using a 64-bit OS.
I don't have convenient access to a computer with 64-bit Windows Vista/7 (I work at an academic institution where all pubic computers have XP or Linux), so I'm wondering if there's any way to get around this and create a bootable USB for 64-bit Windows 7 via a 32-bit OS.
i have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely bsod all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). also Internet doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. this started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. i've tried some checks but without success. also i remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when i played a certain game that is still in beta so i taught it was the game.
I just brought a new computer. In copying the files from my old drive (XP Professional) to a new drive with Windows 7 Home, some of the files were not copied because the file names are too long. Windows 7 doesn't tell me which folders the files are located. How do I make Windows 7 to accept long file names?
So, recently I downloaded Windows 7 RC1 and the upgrade is doing alright except it's been upgrading for 17 hours and 20 mins, it's making very slowly progress with the last item .. switching the message at the bottom constantly between "Please Wait..." and "Transferring files, settings and programmes (395931 of 523838 transferred)" it's been on number that for at least 6 hours and 20 mins that i know of.
Should i leave it and hope for the best? or say it's over and it's time to do something about it?
Edit: Specs are RAID0 SATA HDD's, 3GHZ Dual core AMD, 8 GBs of RAM, ATI Radeon HD3870 and I'm upgrading from Vista SP1 to 7RC1
I can't copy paste, transfer my files due to the file name being too long. I'm using a Windows 7 32bit OS.I've got a lot of files with apparently too long a name to transfer so I am hoping that there's a quick solution to my problem without needing to shorten the names of all my 3000 files?
My computer shutting Down has been staying on longer than it used to. Please let me know what I need to do to make it run faster again like when after I first bought it
I'm using windows 7/ internet explorer 8. My computer has been running so slow to download all programs, only to then sometimes freeze and nothing works etc. etc. Also I receive messages saying "have to close down will let you know when this has been fixed and nothing happens.
Since about a week ago, whenever I turn on my laptop and login to Windows 7 I can't click anything for about 5-10 minutes (changes every time). A loading icon pops up while I can't click anything (reminds me of Mac spinning wheel of death). Sometimes the wallpaper will go white and a box comes up that says something like "Windows is not responding, would you like to end now?" I just wait a few more minutes and it eventually fixes itself.I haven't downloaded, installed, or changed anything recently. I did notice however, when I shut down the laptop there is always an update available. I start the update and the laptop shuts itself off when it is done. Startup time was fast until this started happening a week ago. Ran virus scan and deleted/uninstalled old games to free up space. [code]
My 32 bit IE has not worked for a long time I have tried everything and finally tried turning off my add ons and it worked so I went back and tried turning them off one by one and counld not find the one that is causing the problem. Im not even sure what these add ons do im not very advanced in pcs I can just follow instructions.
I have this issue with thumbnails of photos taking a very long time to load when I open a folder in windows explorer. I mean a really long time, like 5+ minutes, for a folder that contains say 200 pictures. And this happens all the time, regardless of what else may be running, and regardless of what size thumbnails I select. What's weird too is that if I have an external harddrive hookep up through a USB 2 or 3, and open a folder in windows explorer with a similar number of pictures, those thumbnails load normal, fast. So it's only slow when it's reading thumbnails from my internal harddrive. Otherwise I don't believe my internal drive is slow, as everything else like launching programs etc works fine.
btw, I'm on an Envy 17 laptop, i5, 8 gigs RAM, 640 gig hars drive, Win 7 home premium. But I don't think my system config matters, since as I said, thumbnails load fine when reading from an external drive.
unfortunately i'm here because i have issue that ih (i have two actually but i will make other thread for the second one)The issue goes like this:When Windows 7 was out around 2 and half years ago it was fine, after that.around the time that SP1 was out Windows 7 start to gave me alot of folder's name too long errors even if the folders names are only 2 letters!i happened to format my pc alot last year and the issue don't seem to be solve and just keep getting worse each day, i'm aware that Windows 7 have a limit of something around 260 letters But it gave me these errors randomly Even when everything is fine and don't allow me to either burn or copy path stuff, it even don't let me see the folder size when the name is "too long"i discovered more Windows 7's annoying bugs But this is undoubtedly one of the worse i have encountered (if it even count as a bug...)
