View 3 RepliesThis is a weird issue I'm having. I did a restart and when I came back BF3 wasnt playing any sounds, which is weird because it was just working. I went to make sure it wasnt muted in the mixer, and I see the weirdest thing.
The application "System Sound" is disapearing in and out very quickly, not only in the mixer but In devices as well
What can I do to fix it? Maybe reinstall Windows 7 sound drivers?
I am using Windows 7 professional OS... and i got some problem with my sound system..
But when I rebooted my system with Backtrack OS.. I could listen the startup sound. and nothing other than that. As it is a live OS I am using,i didn't install any media players.. so couldn't check other sounds in Backtrack...
but in windows i couldn't even hear the startup.. I 've tried reinstalling the sound drivers. But it was of no use..
how to activate my audio driver..i reformatted my computer in window 7.Before i reformatted it,it was a windows xp. Just now i did not hear sound in my headset.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows 7 pro x64 system will not play the "Print Complete" sound after printing a document.I get the pop-up saying that the print job has completed, just like it did with Win XP. However, the sound is not played. The sounds applet in control panel has the "Print Complete" sound defined correctly and the Test button plays the sound. So I do not have an audio problem, and the .wav file is not blocked.I have looked for any options that could control the sound, but have not found any.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Acer Aspire One 722 netbook and there are times when the system hangs and does not respond. The cursor does not move and there is NO option to "Restart Windows Explorer"( a common option when your system hangs). I am waiting for this to show (about 10 mins) but nothing happens. Only a beeping sound is heard from my system but it does not came from the inside of the laptop but from the audio speaker. The only thing I would do is to restart it manually(by pushing the restart button). Now my files had not been saved. But, fortunately the unresponsive instances does not happen every time I switch on my netbook.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis seems to happen to me a lot, from what seems to be games. Researching some more, It could be resolution changes (seeing as it also happens when I plug another monitor in) however, I can't find a fix (other than at that link, but I don't want to install software I haven't heard of, much less an antivirus as it may come in conflict with MSE)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 (RC1, 32 bit) on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A7640 notebook (1GB RAM, Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+), which uses VIA Vinyl AC'97 (VIA VT1612A AC97) to playback sound.
The system has a habit of freezing when playing sound. It doesn't seem to matter what program is playing the sound, as I have had my instant messenger, email notifier and browser (online videos) all hang the system. So, it is not program related.
When the system hangs, the screen freezes, the mouse pointer doesn't move and the keyboard is unresponsive (CRTL+ALT+DEL does nothing). The only way to deal with it is to press the power button for a few seconds to switch off the computer.
But this doesn't happen every time I play sound. I can for instance watch a number of online videos just fine and then have everything freeze when I start the next one. The problem is also not related to any particular sound or video since after a reboot I can watch a video that crashed the system just fine.
Actually, I am not 100% sure but it seems to me that what causes the freezing is the start of sound playback. If the playback starts ok, I will be able to go through the whole audio/video without problem.
My system has recently developed an annoying problem which is causing me some concern as it could indicate something serious.Quite often when it boots up, there is instead of the properly functioning sound, a continuous high pitched whine. This goes away when I reboot. Sometimes though, this issue arises during games or other general use.If this happens when the system is running, not just the whining sound is there, but also any 3D or video graphics slow down a lot.I have attempted to remedy this by removing and replacing the soundcard and an uninstall/reinstall of the drivers. Unfortunately with no affect as regards removing the problem or it's cause.Outside of these times everything runs as it should and the sound functions perfectly both through the speakers and headphones connected via the front panel box supplied with this XF-fi series card.I am thinking about a full re-intallation of the O.S if nothing else works.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust recently I have not been able to get sound on my computer (All In One Desktop). Neither sound nor system sounds. I believe it started when I started plugging in my earphones into the jack. I can hear sounds (movies, video) and I can also hear the system sounds. When I unplug the earphones from the jack, there is no sound. I have tried all the website links on how to fix it, I've looked to make sure nothing is muted. I just find it odd that my sounds work fine through earphones

Because I've only found drivers for 32bits until now, and only for XP but it's not a problem, Windows 7 can still deal with them, the problem is just with the 64b part.
I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit on an Intel Corei32100T processor on a Gigabyte H67A motherboard with 8gb ram, connected via HDMI to a Sony Bravia. No sound or video card as its all on the processor. I want to set up the system to record a line-in source for (1) my turntable and mixer, and (2) interface for my guitar and microphone. My device manager shows both Intel(R) display audio and Realtek HD audio. Clicking on the speaker icon in the notification area brings up the Intel display audio mixer with three sources, the Sony, system sounds and Firefox. I'm sure this is controlling the system audio output. No way to a recording mixer. Bringing up the Realtek audio manager still shows me no way to set recording levels. Since I'm planning to use the pc for recording LP to disc (on my second thousand, now, switching from favorite old programs on an XP machine to the newly built system)and for live recording, properly setting up the basic sound paths in the system before setting up Audacity and Artist One from Presonus.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently ran a program called RegOwnit.exe on my windows registry to take ownership of the registry. But before I did that I made a backup copy of the registry by selecting Export and All from RegEdit.exe and saving a file called backup.reg. Since then I've been having issues such as no sound, I can't open "My Computer", "Control Panel", "My Documents", "Recycle Bin" When I try to I get an error message stating "there is not enough free memory to run this program."So I tried restoring the backup I made of the registry by going to Import and selecting backup.reg from there. But nothing changes in the registry at all. I just get various error messages each time I do that such as. "Cannot import C:UsersOwnerDesktopackup.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes." I've even tried doing it in Safe Mode.So my next guess I thought was to run System Restore but that hangs and never completes. The first time it ran I let it sit for 12 hours before I realized it was never going to finish. I've tried running it several more times since then, even selecting older restore points but it always hangs and I end up sitting here waiting for it to complete but it never does.I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit My computer is a HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC with 4 GB RAM and 76GB free space on Drive C. Someone said to make sure All Users has permission to access the registry: Quote: Make sure that System and Users (and just to make sure maybe Administrators and your account name too) have more or less unrestricted access to the registry hive"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" So I added Users to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and now I can open My Computer and Control Panel etc, but I still have no sound. In fact when I try to put on an MP3 I get an error that says "Your soundcard driver does not support this type of sample format."What I'd really like to do is run system restore or be allowed to import my full backup of the registry to the point before all of this happened. What's the point of having a tool for backing up the registry and making restore points if you can't roll back to them?
I have a HP Pavilion model number p7-1154 pc. I have tried almost everything to get it to work. System restore, re-installing, clean install, and everything else of drivers and codecs. Nothing works. No virus did this. Everything is brand new on the PC. Was working fine for over a week. I had Kaspersky anti-virus. Then suddenly it said the license for it was missing when it went to update... I tried re-install of it but.. it would not let me. Tried uninstalling and kept getting errors. So I used a tool from the Kaspersky site to remove it. Then installed AVG. Since then.. no sound. Please, someone help me with this issue.. I do not know why this happened..... The computer is literally brand new. In the playback devices.... It says I am getting sound but, no sound is going in the speakers.. In the "playback" for sound settings it shows in the little bar that sound is being played, but I get no sound.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer was recently RMA'd due to a faulty PSU and video card. I just received it back and the speakers that I used before no longer work. I figured it was a driver issue and simply downloaded the RealTek drivers but it didn't fix the problem. The AMD card comes with its own drivers. I had problems in the past with their HD audio codecs and tried uninstalling them but that didn't seem to fix it either. I went into device manager and located that there were drivers installed and they checked out. I checked for hidden or disabled devices in "Playback devices" and didn't find any.
Things I've tried:
- Installing audio drivers.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers.
- System restore.
- Checking proper connection of speakers.
- Verification that speakers work.
By just looking at the audio mixer, it would appear that the system is playing sounds because there is activity in the mixer when a song or other sounds are playing. The problem is there is nothing coming from the speakers. Is it possible that my audio ports on the motherboard could be faulty?

I have recently reinstalled my operating system. Once formatted, I installed all the drivers, utilities for my motherboard and graphics card.I now have no sound, even though the RealTek audio driver is installed.I have gone into 'device manager' right clicked to check for updates and Windows advise me that my drivers are up to date. There is an 'x' on my audio icon stating "No Speakers or Headphones are plugged in" and i know my speakers are plugged in and working as i tested them on my ipod. My PC is recognising the input jack, as a window pops up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a C-media sound card (CMI8738/C3DX PCI audio device) that was running fine on XP. But since I changed to Windows 7, the sound became choppy and delayed when watching videos. I used the same driver that I used on XP, I tried updating but Windows 7 said its already up-to-date.
The worst part: I tried uninstalling the driver and my PC turned grayish white..one time I even saw pixels of my mouse on the corner screen, much like a distorted screen of some sort. Even disabling the device crashed the screen same as uninstalling it (like a BSoD). Now I can't change the driver.

MOBO: ECS P4M800
Processor: Pentium D

Video card: internal, 32 MB shared
Also, my MOBO had internal sound cards running previously on realtek that got busted after an internal short circuit...damn. Its undetected at the device manager.
Have all updates. after about 10 mins of play sound get weird and game freezes entire system in a sound loop that can only be fixed with hard reset. Disc and online auth. tried on installation. changed #of speakers in settings to 0 and 6, its a 5.1. No other game gives me problems.
