I am tracking down older driver that was installed by windows 7.I need to know which folder holds the active drivers in win 7.Is it /system32/drivers, or one of the other "driver store" or "repository" folders?

View 0 Replies View RelatedMy computer was working fine for months. One day it wouldn't load windows and it was stuck at the black screen with the logo. I have searched the web and I am at the point where windows only starts in safe mode and when the drivers are disabled. I have used another video card and have even falled back on using the onboard video. The results are the same. What is keeping windows from loading the video drivers (Nvidia and Ati alike)? I have a spare drive with win7 and it loads/ starts with no problems so it is an issue with my main drive rather than the video cards or memory.
Phenom x4 9500, Diamond HD 5770, Biostar ta790gxe, 6 Gigs ram, 850w power supply.
I had a hard time finding my drivers even for Windows Vista and I finally got them, I don't really want to go through the hassle all over again, so could I just move the driver folders over to the drivers folder in Windows 7 and restart? or does it have to do more internal stuff for it to work. Also, I am assuming C:Windowssystem32drivers is the right Drivers folder?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having BSOD lately after mouse clicks and so I did a "sfc /scannow" and got corrupt file report that windows can't fix (Im using Windows 7 64-bit).I'm just wondering because I looked at "cbs.log" and the files that "sfc" reports as being corrupt (or don't match hash) are files like xxxlan.dll xxxamd.dll and similar. Aren't those drivers like my LAN and maybe my video card that sfc is reporting as corrupts?

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy computer is old and has small hard drive space, and someone recommended I delete my %temp%, my temp, and my prefetch folder, but I was just wondering, since I had to do a whole lot of searching ,and downloading of drivers, (just to make my computer compatible with windows 7), where all my downloaded drivers are? And if deleting any of these folders will screw up my drivers, and give me problems, and I would have to find the drivers again.
(Also I don't really know what the drivers are called, so I can't really search for them) Because I really wanna delete these folders to make my computer faster, because on XP, where my drivers always worked and I never needed to update them, I deleted those folders all the time, and it made it faster because those folders had a crapload of stuff in them, but I don't want my computer to not be compatible with the games/videos/music/etc. I use it for.
I do the Windows 7 Clean install and now I cant delete or add folder or file in to some folder or drivers they ask administrator permission. How can I change that and there is unknown security members also !!!!

View 5 Replies View Relatedi have a very small but very nagging problem concerning my internet connection. Sometimes the connection turns itself off, to counter this on the connection properties menu of Windows (this screen, it's in portuguese but i think you know what i'm talking about))
i simply turned on the option to reconnect when the connection goes down, every 10 seconds in this case and i make it so it does NOT have to ask for the phone number. The whole purpose is so that it reconnects itself when i'm not at the computer. It works, the problem is that every time i make a new connection, every time the computer starts, for instance, all these options turn back to default! I have to do it all over again every time i make a new connection! Wich is all the time!
I have both a windows vista and win 7 laptop, while using the computer if more then one window is open. The inactive windows will pop up over the foreground window. Maybe part of a new windows feature? I don't think its a malware issue its present on both laptops one being brand new. It makes working on the computers rather hard ...

It may have something to do with avast antivirus because thats the image thats listed next to the files in those drives. I checked with avast and it doesnt appear to be running any scans and theres no way I can find to have it skip that drive. Also when I put the drive back online the activity is at 0 but eventually goes back to 100% and I can hear the drive activity.

I have tried to install Plex Server which during install called for Bonjour to be installed. When I accepted it tried to install Bonjour but failed. I have no idea why. I then tried to install the newest Version of I tunes because I thought it comes with Bonjour. Now Itunes fails with "the installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured"I have tried to clear out the %Appdata% Temp directory and searched the registry for Apple and Bonjour and couldn't find any entries. When I look at the error Log that is created by the iTunes installer it says it errored out because of Installer Error 1618 which obviously means "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install". Does anyone know how I could find that installer process and terminate it so I could install Bonjour or Itunes. I am out of luck of finding anything on the web.
