I have Windows 7 Ultimate and when I try to open a folder such as My Computer from the desktop or the Start Menu it will not open. What happens is it appears as a pinned folder on the taskbar. Holding mouse over folder it opens the small preview pane but there is no way that I can get it to open full screen.
View 1 RepliesI have two toolbars added to my taskbar; Remote and Games. When I hit Remote, I have like 15 or so RDP shortcuts in there. Sometimes I hit it, I see the proper height window open but it's just pure white with a black border for like 5 seconds until it pops the icons in there. I tried moving it from my regular drive to my SSD, didn't make any difference.
Has anyone seen a similar issue, and if so did you find a way to stop that?
Can i put 3 diffrent folders to stick on my taskbar?

^^ now this is my explorer and that is my problem... i used to have couple of folders Pinned there .. everytime i wanted to xcess something i just click n blah it was very fast... and even frequent folders was funn
but now i don't know what happened but, it's gone ...
I know it's not very important but i am used to it and thats one of the main feature i liked in Windows 7.. and i am very curious about it to that how it happened and how should i get it back..
I have a different sort of problem with grouping.
See, I'm a game modder, and this requires me to have many folders open at once. The problem is, when my computer goes to sleep and then wakes up, the order of my folders on the taskbar is changed. This bugs me to no end, and I'm wondering how I can stop this reordering from happening.
I added my user folder as a toolbar to the taskbar for quick access to its subfolders and files. I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst my taskbar disappeared. Somehow got it back but then my desktop icons disappeared. Now when I try to open say a Word document, it will not open full screen. I can only see it when I run my mouse over the Word icon on the task bar. The file appears about the size of a postage stamp. Same is true if I try to open a program from the start menu. Will not open but icon will appear on task bar. Am unable to do a thing to try and correct the problem because nothing actually opens. Desktop icons now appear to be in the taskbar as well.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of folders on my desktop and up until today I was easily able to open them with a double click. I haven't installed anything new. Now when I double click any folder it just docks in the taskbar but doesn't open. I click on the folder on the task bar but nothing happens!! Right-clicking only gives options for Windows Explorer (even that doesn't open and behaves as the normal folder does), unpin this folder from the taskbar, and close the folder.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI prefer to have my browser button on the far left of the taskbar. This is why I have the browser pinned here and I use grouping. Now I was wondering if it was possible to NOT have it pinned here but still have the button in the same place if I open it.
Like for example, nothing pinned in the taskbar and I have explorer/taskmanager opened and I open my browser and have the button automatically placed at the far left instead of the 3d position in this example.

A problem I run into every once is when I click on a program icon in the taskbar that program never opens. This doesn't happen a lot, but enough to be annoying. I have never found any solution or even a clue to what could be causing this in all the forums and web sites I've visited.Whatever info you need me to post I will be glad to do it.

I didn't install any programs and did not change any settings. The only change I recently did was change a setting in BIOS from 32bit to 64bit (I'm using Windows 7 64bit).

However, some apps open and some apps don't. Those that do open, when left clicked on for a menu item, the app closes.Although an app opens it is not functional. The only way to restore normalcy is to hard close the computer and reboot, then everything is OK.

However, I have been able to open- said folders - by right clicking and selecting 'Open'- but it's not like I want to be doing this for as long as I own my netbook. I want my Windows to go back to the way it was before all this happen- double-clicking on folders would open them- instead of giving me these pop-ups.Every time I double-click, I get a pop-up that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. I currently have Windows Media Player and Microsoft's Zune software installed on my PC- with regards to managing my media (photos, videos and music). Both programs work fine.The earliest restore point I could go back to is on September 29th 2010.This problem has existed before then.

I can not access any of my network drives because I can't get into My computer. I rebooted and it did NOT help. I get no error message or any message of any type. I click on the icon and nothing happens.I can open a word document, PDF, etc that is on my desk top that is not in a folder. Also, I have a Mac desktop computer that is connected to the same network as the Dell. I can get into my documents from the Mac. I have all of My documents stored on an external server not on a drive in the Dell or Mac.

I was having hardware issues and you guys helped me fix my computer before, I think I have a more serious problem than I had before. I'll try to keep this as short as I can, I've had a lot of computers over the years not to say I'm that savvy but I know what I'm doing somewhat, I've delt with most of any computer problems you could think of but i think this is beyond google instructions. It started I'd say about a week ago my explorer kept crashing when I opened any folders, I was searching for a solution for a while but I could just browse using programs so I put up with it for a while. I formatted my computer about 4 days ago, and it wouldn't get through "completeing instalation" , I had to turn something on in bios it wasn't RAID but it was the other one I forget what it was also unplugg all USB and use devicemg to turn off the unknown devices that where freezing the instalation of windows, it installed and everything looked to be fine, finally formatted my computer and tried to open a folder and after all that I'm back at square one with the folders not opening. Explorer doesn't crash anymore but it freezes up and I need to restart explorer to do anything else. I can open the event viewer but I've only recently read about event viewer so idk how to use it. My wireless adapter requires drivers to work I got them on a flash drive but I can't acesses it so I'm writing this on my iPod i don't know what else I could say, I never flashed my mobo or anything yet, no hardware changes in years and all the computer parts are fairly new, I'm running windows 7 64bit, i tried sfc /scannow it failed at 11% chkdsk /f said it would scan once i restart but i dont see how this could help sense ive just formatted..
View 2 Replies View RelatedSome minutes ago I was moving an image file into a folder on my desktop using my mouse but after that I suddenly haven't been able to open none of my folders anymore!When I click twice on a folder it goes in "Windows Explorer Taskbar". I can see it there but if I try to open it , it "flies away" towards rightside on my desktop and disappear ( I guess that's the same movement I did moving the image into the folder ).

I have already checked in the Folder Options and they are checked to open in the same window, I tried flipping it the other way and back too, this had no effect. View 4 Replies View RelatedThis has been driving me nuts since i've had 7, but i really don't want to have to install some program to eliminate it. i really don't think i should have to. Every time I have a folder open, when i open another one it opens tight on top of the first one, they always are the same size which i don't want either. In other versions of windows i was always able to get each particular folder to open where i want on the desktop and any size i want by simply putting stretching it to the size i want and putting it where i want then closing it. It would open there every time thereafter even after restarting.
