i am Chandan from Odisha and my E-mail id is (Email removed by Moderator). i want to say, when i insert my d-link dongle into my window7 laptop now it takes too much time to install when ever before it had taken few
I am running IE 8 , latest as of 10 Sept 11, Windows 7 Ultimate on an Intel Quad Core (9300), 8 GB RAM, 1.5 TB Drive. When I hit "Add to Favorite" on IE to book mark a link, it takes 20-40 seconds until I am prompted to save the link some 30-40 seconds later. Needless to say, this is very annoying. I tried the following troubleshooting to isolate the problem:
1- Installed IE 9 - Same Issue
2. I removed all my existing favorite links/folders from the "Favorites folder" under C/ Users) - thninking that the number of existing links/folders may be the cause - Same Issue
3. I uninstalled IE 9 and defaulted to IE 8 - Same Issue
4. I uninstalled IE 8 - i.e. no IE browser left in my OS since IE 7 can not run on Win 7- then reinstalled IE 9 - Same Issue
5. I tried firefox, it works like a charm.
I restored to earlier versions of windows backups but it did not help. I suspect that this issue has been there for a while - may be some file or registry entry is corrupted.
Acer PC with w/7 working fine until one day it starts all "do not shut off computer, configuring windows etc." It is ok once in a whilebut everytime I boot the computer I go through the same routine and, as a result, this idiotic message is cramping my style.
my sis has a sony laptop with i3 processor its 2 years old, now it takes lots of time to start up . It is tuck at welcome screen for around 5 min. Then when it starts it is again stuck for searching network. it takes another 5 min.
My boot up seems fine it is only after the desktop appears that i have a problem, So after the desktop screen appears it seems to take about 3 minutes to look for and find the internet connection, I have a second laptop ( Toshiba ) also with Windows 7 and this is fine. As it is still under warranty I phoned HP helpdesk, who tried to find and fix the problem but failed,Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bitProcessor: AMD E-350 Processor, AMD64 Family 20 Model 1 Stepping 0Processor Count: 2RAM: 3690 MbGraphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics, 384 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 461998 MB, Free - 415697 MB; D: Total - 14636 MB, Free - 1802 MB; F: otal - 99 MB, Free - 88 MB;Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard, 3577Antivirus: avast! Different to most peoples boot up problems, mine problem is that it takes about two minutes to show the boot up animation after the HP logo. All it shows is a black screen with a little flashing white line for about two minutes.

This problem started about 2 months ago. Windows takes a long time to shut down, at least 5 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't shut down and reboots.Every shuts down normally, then the grey screen "SHUTTING DOWN" just seems to hang.On one recommendation I updated the BIOS, that didn't seem to work.I scanned in safe mode with Malware Bytes Anti Malware and the computer is clean. I use AVAST antivirus.
I have an HP Z800 Workstation with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. When I start the computer it seems to be ready in somewhere under a minute after the desktop comes on, meaning there are no spinning circles the mouse moves smoothly etc. However if I try to launch one of the programs in the taskbar, Firefox, Thunderbird, it takes at least seven to ten minutes for the program to come on and be ready. At this point if I click Start>All Programs it is completely empty with no icons or folders at all in there and will be for about the same amount of time. The Start menu freezes open like that and all I can do is to wait. And wait I do because it makes it much worse if I hold in the power button and turn the computer off because then I can usually not go past that black screen that comes on for a brief second before it goes on the desktop. I have very few things that are active in msconfig so I have no idea what's going on and why the computer takes so long to start.
I noticed this first on my laptop a while ago now it has happened on my PC,ssentially if or when i open my downloads folder it is empty it then takes ages to populate(the address bar slowly fills up green) all the other libraries are fine open straight away with all the files in place, it only happens in downloads
My wife has a new Acer netbook which came with 7 Starter. I upgraded it to Home Premium 32bit. She is complaining that after closing the lid, or hibernating, or sleep mode, it take at least two minutes before the netbook connects so that she can use the internet. My two laptops do not have this problem at all. All three machines use the same router.
The signal strength icon on the system tray shows a yellow blob which stays until a connection is made. It doesn't always happen, but enough for hair tugging sessions!
Recently, whenever i turn on my computer. It will take quite a while to load the welcoming page (The green page). Usually it took around 1-2 seconds. I've tried updating windows and anti virus scan but the problem still persist.
I'm currently pissed off about tmy unit which is taking too long to shutdown. I've tried the methods posted here to lessen the startup time and shut-down time of a computer but it only affected the booting process. when I shutdown it still takes that long even with the tweaks.
Whenever I tried to safely remove my USB from my laptop by Left-Clicking on the USB icon, it just takes such a long time for the menu to appear when I'm trying to remove my USB. How come it's like this? In Windows XP, it just appears as soon as you left click on the USB Icon, but Windows 7 just takes such amount of time. I was wondering if there's some way to fix this?
- Windows 7 Pro in a workplace. When a unser logs to a machine for the first time, it takes around 3 minutes to create the profile, it hangs at "Preparing your desktop". After the initial logon, the time is more normal, around 10-25 seconds. What could cause such a long delay to initiate the profile?
When I start up my computer, after reaching windows 7 symbol appears and i see the blue screen, it takes over 3 minutes before i see the form to type my password in. The same happens when I let my computer hibernate/sleep and then turn it on again.

I'm not sure why this is happening, but if I attempt to open a drive in Windows Explorer, it takes a really long time (sometimes several minutes). It takes that long for the progress bar on the address bar to fill up. Does anyone know why this would be?
I usually let the laptop go to sleep and when i wake the computer, the wireless connection takes about 2 or 3 minutes to reconnect to the network.
I have another win 7 laptop that connects as soon as it wakes up but this one does not do that. The wireless connects fine when i boot the computer but its just after Sleep and wake.
The wireless symbol right bottom of the screen tells me that there are wireless networks in the vicinity but takes some time to connect; I have set my network to connect automatically if it detects it.
yesterday i buy a wireless broadband router - 4 ports and i encounter some change, i don't know if it is a problem with the settings or it is normal.
questions:
1. My desktop computer is connected to the router through Lan. when i start the computer. my comp identifies the network for 2 mins.. it is normal? or i need to change settings or the router?
2. i cannot connect to my other PC that is also connected in Lan.
What's going on with the icon on my taskbar? It takes 22 seconds to load Explorer. Every other link to a folder in Explorer is practically instantaneous, including the links in Start Menu.
when I login in a work to my domain, the login is quick. Logging in at home to the domain log in when not connected to the domain takes much longer. I disconnected mapped drives and that's not the problem.
My windows is acting so sporadically, freezing up, taking forever to open a site. I can get to mail but then cannot open it. I don't know what else to do but try another repair install. I cannot find a tutorial on it.
A certain set of programs take over a minute to run. If I double click the executable it takes over a minute before the program launches.Equally attempting to access the file properties takes a similar amount of time.(the file happens to be audioconverter.exe (part of a set of programs to re-encode mkv's - e.g. strip out of the dts track and reencode with ac3, etc.)Only files in this set of sub-directories seem to be affected, the rest of the machine performs perfectly
I have a form which has many text boxes. My default language has been set to Arabic so each text box accepts Arabic entry to begin with. In some text boxes I need to enter English only, so I have set the language in that text box to be English. When the cursor comes to this text box, it takes little time than usual. After entering the text to move to the next text box also it takes a little more time. To sum up, whenever the cursor reaches the text box that has been set to accept a particular language, it takes more time to enter and exit. How can I overcome this problem.
I have a Targus Wireless Mouse, and it uses bluetooth through a dongle that came with the mouse. I don't really use that mouse, would it be possible to pair the dongle with my PS3 controller instead? How would I do this (do I need to download drivers
Every time I press caps lock, to turn on or turn off, I can't keep typing until some process completes. The icon for capson/capsoff comes onscreen, and while it's there I can't keep typing, until some time passes.
