- Windows 7 Pro in a workplace.When a unser logs to a machine for the first time, it takes around 3 minutes to create the profile, it hangs at "Preparing your desktop". After the initial logon, the time is more normal, around 10-25 seconds.What could cause such a long delay to initiate the profile?

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i try to create a new user profile ~ with or without a password, it shows up on the main login page, but when i click on it to open, the message "UserProfileService_service failed the logon_user profile cannot be loaded". i have searched microsoft support with little solutions listed. and the ones that are listed seem too technical for me to be trying on my own. there are many posts there with this problem, but they all seem to be several years old.
i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.
My wife's Dell desktop (after a nighttime thunderstorm) will not permit her to log on. When she enters the password she gets the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a user fix, or should we take the computer back to where it was bought for service?
View 5 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I turned on my Toshiba laptop (Satellite P855-S5200) and got some sort of error screen, and then it brought me to a screen asking if I wanted to do a system repair or start windows normally. I chose system repair, but then it seemed to get stuck in that process (It was taking forever and nothing was happening), so I turned off the laptop (I know, big no no), booted in safe mode, and did a system restore to a restore point from about a week ago. The "starting Windows" screen came and went, no problem. Everything seemed fine till I got to the User Selection screen (the default blue one with the little hummingbird or whatever). Then it just sat there on that screen. I could see the hummingbird and the little squiggly lines, but there were no buttons to click my user. I just let it sit there, and after about 5 minutes, the user names popped up, and I was able to continue using the computer without any problems, no other speed issues whatsoever. It now makes me wait every time, always about 5 minutes, before the user names pop up. It does this when I restart the machine and when I try to switch users.

my Toshiba laptop takes more than 3 mins to start up even after i upgraded to 6 GB of DDR 3 RAM .. My processor is Core i3 330M 2.1 Ghz and OS win 7 64 bit.

Monitors: two (2) 19" Widescreen LCD. One is DVI, another is VGA+adapter=DVI.
Problem:
Win7 setup (install) -> first restart -> bios finished -> blank/black screen for 10 minutes (or so)... then win7 loads and resumes fine.
This 10-min delay happens every time win7 restarts. Note that this happens even initial setup/install, no other programs installed yet.
Previous OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit, SP2. No problem with booting.
I have tried unplugging one monitor, switching, using the onboard ... all with same result.
Can anyone help me, I'm desperate -- about to ditch win7 and go back to XP pro.
i've been told to be as detailed as i can, so i'll try and put my experience and problems down as comprehensively as possible. i'm running windows 7 (64-bit).yesterday morning, my computer took unusually long to log in. i didn't think much of it because it worked fine for most of the day besides being slow now and then when opening a program or two (the main one i recall is having trouble opening libre office).late in the evening, however, my opera browser had some kind of problem while i was on Internet. i'm not sure what i did, but it's happened once before; the video took up the entire screen, was difficult to manage because i couldn't bring it back to the usual size, and i had to close down the browser itself. when it started up again, opera was having the same issue as the last time this happened; the top and bottom of the screen had changed and i couldn't access the minimize/restoredown/close buttons. i figured i would have to re-install opera again, since this fixed the same sort of problem last time, but i tried restarting my computer just in case.
the computer took a long time to log in again, and it seemed like it had frozen. after waiting for a few minutes and seeing the loading icon wasn't moving, i used the power button to shut it off; unfortunately i noticed the icon moving again just as i did this.i started it up again after that, and it took several minutes to start up when it normally takes less than one. i think it spends the normal time booting up, but logging in takes abnormally long (it lingers on the "welcome" screen). when it finally does log in, i would get put into a temporary profile.while all my files do seem to still be present, my desktop is empty except for browsers, game icons, and a few programs. my text files, documents, folders and the like are elsewhere (but seem to still be present), and none of my programs' preferences are saved (my browser settings are reset, my instant messengers don't remember my login info, etc.). i wouldn't be so worried, but the long login time concerns me, and i hoped i could put things back to the way they were before.
my anti-virus didn't turn anything up after this began (i have spybot - search and destroy and webroot secureanywhere).first, he directed me to reboot in safe mode and attempt to use system restore. i was able to get into safe mode, but it still took a long time to log in, it still put my into a temporary profile, and there were no restore points available.next, i followed the directions here http://www.sysprobs.com/fix-temporary-profile-windows-7 up to the 2.f section. it seems that i am now out of the "temporary profile" loop, but nothing has changed except that this profile is no longer considered temporary. on my first attempt to log out and back in after following those instructions, i had the chance to log into a new "other user" profile, but it required a name and password which i could not fulfill (i didn't have a password on my usual account, since it was the only one). after logging back into this account (titled "owner", which isn't the same as my old one), that new one seems to be gone anyway. the accounts that remain are "owner" and "guest". owner is marked as an administrator, and guest is "off".
For some reason unknown to me, logging into my user account on my PC takes around 20-30 seconds. I have the Guest account enabled, and log on to this is pretty much instant.I read around the internet that this is usually caused by having a solid colour as a background, but there have at no point been a solid colour background,I have images set as desktop wallpaper.I have only a handful of programs set to startup such as itype.exe for my keyboard, MSE, Xboxstat for my gamepad and Catalyst Control Centre.The Guest account has more programs set to startup yet takes considerable amount of time shorter to get to the desktop.This also applies to any subsequent account I create.
There are no desktop icons of any sort, and the user account profile size comes up as 343MB (which as far as I'm aware, isn't large). Windows is installed to a 64GB SSD. To help save space and reduce wasted write cycles, I've moved temporary files and cache stuff off the drive onto a normal HDD.This has been done for the Guest account aswell.I fail to see, however, why that should slow down a login time.Rainmeter loads on startup, but whether its on startup or not makes no difference.The accounts are local accounts as my PC is not part of a domain.I am stumped as to why my profile takes so long to login to the desktop (hence why I'm asking).In the event of it being relevent my specs are in the spoiler below.

I am using Dell 15 (4G RAM, Core2Duo 2.20 GHz). Using Microsoft Window 7 Pressional (6.1.7600 16385). I have applied many security updates. I also use Window Security Essential.
I will first say I have searched the internet far and wide and have not found a solution that has worked yet. Secondly, this is a home build that is nearly a year old with no issues to this point so it's not connected to so-and-so PC supplier who released a driver update that I know of.About a week ago, my computer has decided to take its time when waking up from sleep. It is Windows 7 Professional, completely updated with no problems to that point. When it falls asleep and I wake it up, the machine starts up and is active, but my monitors, external hard drive, and other peripherals are never turned on as they once were and the machine just sits there running with a black screen. After exactly 1 minute and 50 seconds, the hard drive, monitors, mouse, keyboard light up and I'm good to go. It was about 10 seconds prior to whatever it is that happened. I have tried turning off hybrid sleep. I have tried using hibernation instead of sleep. Same error. I found online where someone said they had this problem with an ATI card, but once they upgraded the Catalyst Control Center and drivers, they had no problems. That did no good. The only update I've done recently is Firefox, but I have not seen any other reports of the newest Firefox causing sleep problems. I read where someone had a problem with waking up from sleep mode because of Firefox's memory leaks and they said closing Firefox before putting it to sleep helped.I upgraded to SP1 after that and it didn't correct anything.It does not matter if I put it to sleep and wake it up immediately or if it goes to sleep and when I get home from work, boot it up. The same thing happens no matter the length of time.
I have a dual boot with Ubuntu, but that has been on there for months with no errors and Ubuntu will sleep and wake up just fine, usually; sleep has never worked correctly for it. There have been no hardware changes or any hardware driver changes other than the video card. I tried rolling back video card drivers to see if there was a difference with no change. My ASRock MB has the most up to date BIOS that has been out for over a year. My video card is a 5770, but like I said, I've tried older and new drivers. I tried the prevx black screen fix with no luck. I saw the Windows hotfix for this problem, but no where did they provide a link to this hotfix so I'm assuming it was downloaded in an update at some point so it is doing no good for me.
I have been using my pc lately and iv been getting the driver power stat failure alot lately and what happens is my internet goes out and when I shut down it takes at least 5 minutes until it goes BSOD and the error message appears can some one help me with this and tell me how to fix it as soon as possible because this has been going on for a while and I want it to stop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a WD 15k Raptor hard drive and my computer now takes about 7 minutes to boot up, it gets stuck at the starting screen, where no hard drive action will happen, then 7-8 minutes later there will be loads of activity then will start up, ive tried narrowing it down, by removing the old hard drive (because im using the other old hard drive that had the OS on for media) and just running the new one, but no luck, I also tried reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my old hard drive, which had no problems before, but the same effect, takes 7-8 minutes to boot. Ive even tried removing any new hardware I installed before it, but still the same problem, Ive asked a lot of people and Ive had various solutions, but no effect, I think its to do with the power supply, or the SATA cable and power addapter I purchased for the new hard drive. View 14 Replies View RelatedAFter windows finally boots up, everything works fine except IE v9 that also takes forever to load a page and strangely, most of the dropdown menu items are grayed out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the same symptoms occur. I have reset to defaults and the long load time still occurs. If I try to maximize the IE window, it hangs and never frees. Also, if I try to enter a new url in a separate tab, IE freezes and never releases and takes a while to close.
This is on Win 7 Home Premium, SP1 64-bit with IE 9.
I used to have windows xp on my pc and recently i upgraded the memory of it into 6GB RAM. I decided to install windows 7 64bit. After that point my pc is slow as hell! Booting in windows takes around 4mins. general performance of pc is very low after installing win 7. I have updating drivers through windows and everything seems updated.

My computer takes upwards of five minutes to reboot, with several minutes on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen and several minutes on the initial boot. The delay even includes starting the computer in Safe Mode.Additionally, I am having tremendous amounts of graphical problems while running any game I have on my machine, including Rig N' Roll, Nascar 2003, Max Payne, and Skyrim (even on the lowest settings). Random discolored shapes will appear and stretch throughout the screen. Black lines show up and the graphics are so unbearable that I cannot play any games functionally. For example, when going through the very beginning of Skyrim, the screen would turn almost completely white and stayed that way until I exited to desktop.
The graphical problems are not only in games, as even browsing on the internet can cause random thin horizontal black lines to appear across the screen. The lines remain even if I shut off my monitor and turn it on again, so the monitor does not appear to be the problem.I have run full scans in safe mode of Malwarebytes and Symantec Endpoint Protection Antivirus, with no detections of virus, spyware or malware. I don't know what else to do.I have the most recent (as of today) Windows updates with the exception of one. The update of KB 911895: Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter, refuses to update.

Just recently purchased a new computer. i7 2600k CPU, GTX550 Ti graphics card and 32GB RAM. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit Pro and am booting from an SSD. I have an audio interface connected via USB2 port on boot up. I've seen videos online where it can take about 25 seconds to boot win 7 with SSD but I am getting no where near that.

I then created a new user profile but when I try to login I get the message 'The User Profile Service failed the login'. When I set these values back to normal, new accounts work fine but I really want my user accounts on the second partition.

The Windows Experience Index showed a rating of 7.9 for the processor but now it only shows 4.9. The pc is quite new, I bought it 19 months ago.

How can I fix my pc or at least stop it from freezing.
I have a relatively new Windows 7 enterprise 64-bit install. This is a domain account, so I have to do ctrl+alt+del to login. After entering my password, the welcome notice comes up (with the spinning circle), and it takes quite a while for the desktop to appear. It can be as long as a couple of minutes. This is a pretty fast rig (i5 2500K/GA-Z68X-UD3H/F312800CL8D-8GBXM) and when I first set it up it, my desktop appeared about 10 seconds after hitting the power button, including login.
Is the use of the domain account the likely cause of the delay, or could this be something else like automatic update? I'm not sure how I would go about finding out.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am a lab technician for Microsoft classes at a community college. One of our students somehow messed up his hard drive. The computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit. The system has two administrator accounts and one standard user account. I am still able to logon with those accounts and there are SID keys for each of these users in the registry.
Now when we create a new user, the account is created without any problems. The user shows up on the logon page and after running the net user command, it shows up there as well. When I try to logon with the new user, I get a message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
None of the new user accounts show up in the registry. The other anomaly that I see is that the Default User folder is missing in each of the Users subdirectory for the three accounts where I have no problems.
I have read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 947215 and none of the methods apply to my problem. I also checked Local Group Policies and the Do not logon users with temporary profiles setting is not configured.
My Dell W/64 computer has become very slow - Takes nearly 6 minutes to boot fully, with CPU running at top all that time. There are some 950 locked files that have shown up, and even when computer has been going for 30 minutes or more nearly everything is sluggish.

1) When I restart, my computer stays stuck at the "Shutting Down..." screen for 15 minutes. I then get a BSOD, then it restarts, I get the prompt to start up as safe mode, etc., and then I'm back to the main screen. The BSOD reads: driver_power_state_failure
2) Connecting to the internet, whether by my phone's hotspot or ethernet cord is really problematic, especially by cord. It often hangs and I have to restart the computer or wait a really long time. The taskbar icon hangs with the spinning Aero circle perpetually. And attempting to open the networking controls just freezes.
I have an HP desktop with an Asus MB #M2N68-AM SE2.Sometimes it boots normally but lately it may be as long as 10 to 15 minutes to get past the Windows l7 flashing logo.
