View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 64 bit windows 7. I deleted dungeon siege 2 using the control panel, remove program. It was removed except for one file in Program files x86/microsoftgames/dungeonSiege2. I tried manually deleting it but get this "the action can't be completed because the folder or file in it is open in another program. Close folder or file or retry" There is nothing open. I clicked properties of the file and security and clicked administrator and get the same message. Never had this problem removing remnants of programs in xp.

Anyhow, it would eventually boot up, all though one time I got a BSOD Stop: 21C error.For the past 3 days, no sound is coming out of my speakers. All of a sudden it is coming out of my HDMI monitor instead, I went and bought new speakers because I thought they had died. It is still doing it though. Even if I plug headphones in the front jack, I get nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyways, I used to have windows 7 installed in my iMac and everything was working fine. Except that one day my Mac partitioned didn't want to boot. So I decided to reformat the drive and reinstall everything. After everything was installed I tried to install windows again except now it gets stuck at expanding windows files. 0% It won't get passed that.
From reading on here I saw someone with a similar issue but it involved his SATA III connections. As you all well know iMacs are pretty hard to even move any hardware around. I haven't touched it so I wanted to know if this might be hardware related. If it is what does it usually involve? Hard drive?
I have just bought a new PC 5 hours ago .. I have bought everything GPU/CPU/MOBO/RAM/PSU/CASE .. only thing i did not buy was a HDD and DVD-Rom.. Because i own both and both are only 4 months old.. So i have put the new Parts together.. Then went to old PC , Formatted C drive.. Then added HDD and DVD=ROM from old PC to New one .. Booted and everything was fine except ofc no windows so gave the boot.msgr is missing thingy .. So i put in my Windows DVD .. Set it to boot from DVD .. It boots .. Goes through the "Loading Files" Then it shows me the Windows logo and stays there for a small while.. Then it suddenly turns black with a small gray bar at the bottom... and thats it .. it stays there forever and after some mins i can even here the DVD stops running.. I have uploaded a PIC to help u understand.. Also i tried installing from USB flash drive and same problem.

Last night I decided to partition some of the RAID to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview and see what the fuss was about.I partitioned it just fine, and everything was going smoothly, until I decided to use the windows tool to make my pendrive bootable with the Win8 ISO.In the middle of the process, I was doing something else (unistalling firefox to be more exact) and suddenly a blue screen comes up!Now my PC is stuck on the famous startup recovery loop, and I cant find a way to make it boot.

And as you can imagine nothing happened and I am still stuck with my har drive being unbootable.Now I cant help thinking that this was due to my pen drive being in the middle of that process in some way, but I have since removed it, burned it and buried in a forest, and still my problem persists.Since I havent found another solution online, I think now that the only way for me to get my PC back running is by reformatting my SSD (while hopefully keeping all my RAID files intact) and reinstalling windows. BBUUUTT!!! I have 100s of hours worth of Skyrim in that drive, and if I loose that I will seriously freak out! While I dont play it a lot anymore, when the expansions come, Dovahkin will rise again!Can I copy my files from my messed up SSD to somewhere else, before formatting it and starting a new life?
I tried to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 but I couldn't do it so I went to the folder location and started deleting it folder by folder and when I got to this folder called ActiveX with 4 DLL's in it called (AcroIEHelper.dll AcroPDF.dll GbDetect.dll pdfshell.dll) so I dragged them to the desktop and tried to delete them again with no luck.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI wanted to install a fresh installation of windows 7 on my computer so I decided to load up my boot disc.
1. I deleted my partitions until I had a maximum of 233gb of free space.
2. I created a new partition from the free space. Windows setup suggested to make a primary partition of 100 mb.
3. System created two new partitions. One is primary partition (233 gb), the other is the system partition (100 mb)
4. Proceeded to install windows on the new partition created.
5. Copying windows files went from 0% to 100% instantly
6. Stuck at Expanding windows files at 0%.
7. Restarted my computer to boot up windows to see what's wrong.
8. Windows boot manager is missing, only thing I can do is reinstall windows but I can't
9. Can't do a startup repair cause it fails.
10. Did a cmd command for bootrec.exe /FixMbr and bootrec.exe /Fixboot and both operations are successful. However, still can't load up windows desktop.
Problem: I deleted my partitions and created new ones but I can't install windows onto the partition because the screen is stuck at expanding windows files at 0%. I got an error: 0x80070017. Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. I also can't load into windows desktop because bootmanager is missing.
By mistake I changed the two pst filenames within windows explorer (Windows7 and Office 2010) instead of just changing the names in the navigation pane of outlook. Now send/receive no longer works. After trying to rechange the names in windows explorer to the previous verion I get the message: operation can not be executed because windows search Protocol host ist open.

I'm told that the file is open somewhere else but I don't understand where. How do I delete it?
Just about every time I try to permanently delete a large file or folder, either by shift/delete or emptying the recycle bin the operation hangs up.The little window opens and it counts up the size of the file and that it. Nothing else overtly happens. The status bar never starts indicating and the window just sits there with the little green lights chasing each other across it. If I try to cancel or close the window it nothing happens.During the time all this is going on, I can hit ctrl/alt/del and select Task Manager and it simply goes back to the desktop with this window still squatting there doing it's thing. I have pinned TM to the task bar and tried starting it from there but it never starts. Eventually everything just slows to a stop and nothing works which would seem to indicate some kind of memory leak. There are no error messages during any of this.I have to hit reset and restart the computer that way in order to regain control and we all know how bad an idea this is. I've already had my boot sector eaten once causing me to have to do a total rebuild and I'd prefer not to have to do it again.

In order to rename the offending MKV files I need to boot into Ubuntu (using a Live OS from CD) and if I want to delete the files I either must use Ubuntu or a "file unlocking program" within Windows (the FileAssassin tool that ships with MalwareBytes is my current preference).
I'm trying to clean up an external drive by deleting various files (using Windows Explorer) but like every file gives me "an unexpected error is keeping you from deleting the file error 0x80070570".
Now for some reason I can delete the files using del in the command prompt.But I need to delete hundreds of specific files scattered around, so I need to figure out how to get around this error.I don't want to chkdsk etc on the external either. I just want to bypass the error.
I have about 5 MKV files that I can not delete or rename or move. I can copy them, but then the copies will not be deletable at wherever I paste them. I have tried running as an administrator and "taking ownership", but still can not delete them. They are all .MKV if that matters. I am on Win 7 home 64.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, lately my Windows 7 started acting weird. I'm not able to delete or rename files that I have used recently. Let's say I run File.exe, close it and I want to delete/rename this file. Sometimes I'm trying to do that I get error about something that couldn't delete file because it's in use. It also happens with auto patchers in games, system denies to delete/modify items. Happens with compiler aswell, they're not able to over-write output file. I'm not going to post screenshot since it doesn't happen always and I don't really know how to reproduce this, but it's regular error box with message similar to "Couldn't delete file. File is in use/opened by some process." or something like that with 2 buttons "Retry" and "Cancel". Current solution for that is Log off/Reboot or use application called "UnLocker" (I found it via Google some time ago)

They were prefixed by the $ sign.They are large - many Gbs and I want to get rid of them.When I try to delete them I get the usual UAC window asking for permission, which I give, but then I get a window saying that i have to get permission from PBS - OFFICE - PCPBS.I am signed on as administrator and further checking with whoami.exe shows that I am PBS - OFFICE - PCPBS.I have given PBS - OFFICE - PCPBS ownership and full control privileges via Properties/security/owner tabs but I still get this problem.Why do I need permission to delete when it is telling me that the permission is needed from ME???? If I am logged on as PBS - OFFICE - PCPBS - according to whoami, why is it still telling me that I need permission from myself?
