View 1 RepliesI have a Dell studio laptop that keeps rebooting. I turn it on an it gets to the Dell logo and then reboots. You can select the F2 setup option or the F12 Boot options but this does nothing. If I select F12 then try to select diagnostics it reboots, whatever option it just reboots. I tried to start it in safe mode by pressing delete this did nothing just re-booted and also pressing F8 again nothing. I tried to boot the Dell windows CD that cme with the laptop but nothing it sounds like its trying to start but reboots before anything happens.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A500 that was preinstalled with Windows 7 home premium. Went to turn it on today and got a screen that said: Windows Error recovery. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. It then gives the option to run windows start up repair or run windows normally.
The repair option starts but ends up with a grey back ground screen and a mouse arrow on the screen. Nothing else happens after this. I tried the start Windows normally option but it gets as far as the Windows logo and no further.
The only recent change has been the addition of a new modem / router, other then that it has been business as usual with no changes.
I am unable to connect to the internet on my home my home network, while two other laptops can. I have tried the mentioned dns servers and shows temporary relief, but then it stops and continuously tries to load. The internet connection shows excellent and connected but doesn't load anything. I cannot stay up long enough to update anything or install another browser.

Obviously, I need to get the keyboard replaced, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to restart the computer without using the keyboard? I am currently stuck on the Windows Error Recovery screen and since the enter key doesn't work, I can't get it to start normally, in safe mode, etc.

It takes like 5 to ten minutes to start and I've already tried to clean it with CCleaner and with the msconfig, and it did nothing. and it's just in the start and when it goes to sleep, but besides of that, the computer is running normal. Also I've the antivirus and I don't have any malware or virus
I have a Toshiba satellite laptop running Windows 7 64bit and recently it crashed. I fixed it and everything worked fine, except for the Toshiba utility at the top of the screen that allows for shortcut keys such as changing the brightness, switching wifi, etc., by pressing the fn key and a F key. The utility shows up, runs, and works fine, except the wifi option is gone. I tried using fn+F8 (the keyboard shortcut for wifi) and it didn't work.
I uninstalled the utility completely, went to Toshiba's website, entered in my computer's model and re-downloaded it. It works fine again, but still no wifi option. In my status bar, my wifi says it is off and if I go into control panel I can disable/re-enable it but it still won't work. I re-downloaded the drivers for my network card, and have tried literally everything. My laptop does not have a physical switch either, other than the keyboard shortcut that no longer works.
I contacted Toshiba and they directed me again to the same utility which they said has the wifi option, followed the steps through the phone, but the option was still not there. How to bypass this? It seems my network card was switched off and cannot be switched back on no matter what since every way of doing so is gone. Is there any application to bypass it or a wireless radio application to force the radio on?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba laptop that came with a preinstalled copy of Windows-7 (64 bit) version purchased in July 2010. No setup disk came with the laptop, but there is a "Toshiba recovery media creator" utility.
[1] What is the better option for formatting my drive? Should I use the Toshiba media-creator or install a clean version of Windows-7 from an ISO download (am I allowed to do that? If so, what is a good site to download?) There is a "sticker-certificate" on the bottom of my laptop with a product-key. Will it work with the new install?
[2] Do I have the option of installing a 32-bit version of Windows-7 instead of 64-bit with the above license? The reason is that most applications I use are 32-bit and hence a 32-bit OS is better suited for me. But does the license allow me to do that?
[3] (The tricky part) - Since I have a good 320GB HDD, I want to dual-boot by creating two partitions - with a linux distribution (Ubuntu/openSuse) running on the second partition? Assuming I don't have the option of clean-install, will I be able to create the extra partition for linux using the Toshiba utility?
I tried to play Diablo1 on my new Toshiba laptop which has windows 7. But the colors are all messed up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S7040, when i use my Laptop it will completly freeze randomly without any reason or warning. when it freezes nothing will move (mouse) and the is frozen in time. any program that was runing at the time is also frozen in the middle of what ever task it was doing. like if i was watching a video it would make a high pitch scream until i restart it. normally it freezes after 10 to 30 minutes after start up and at time it could take hours to days to freeze. After the freeze i check the event logs and the only thing posted is the fact that i shut it down. i even did a factory restore and it still does the freezing. and yes windows 7 is the stanfard OS i the laptop. it is only about 14 months old. i am thinking of buying a new hard drive but i would rather solve the problem then buy a hard drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the last few days my Toshiba Satellite L745-S43210 hasn't been working right. Recently it won't boot up properly. It started to boot up and then it would freeze up seconds after showing my desktop. I managed to go into safe mode and use msconfig to change start up programs and turn it to only the essential items. After that it worked and I tried turning everything back on and it worked fine last night. I assumed it was just overheating from being used so much in the last few days. Now today when I tried starting it up I was able to enter my password but the screen went black with my mouse pointer working. I turned it off and tried again a few times before going into safe mode.
I went back into msconfig again and turned it back to only essential programs and I performed a virus scan with Super Anti-Spyware and Malware Bytes and the only thing that they found were cookies. I cleared them out and booted up windows again and it worked fine. Now I am trying to select only certain programs and choose only the Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba programs/services and now when I boot it up I don't even get the the text box to enter my password, it just shows the blue windows start up screen. Right now I am using Safe Mode With Networking to type this and try messing with start up programs again.

I am trying to completely wipe this laptop off and start fresh. The recovery partition has been removed as part of my search for a resolution for the problem. When I try to install windows 7 on this machine I start by selecting to format the entire hard drive. It completes this and then starts the installation of windows 7. It take a very long time for windows to unpack the files and copy them to disc. After about an hour and a half it starts asking me for the User name/location/time settings, etc.
After that it reboots to startup windows for the first time. It immediately tells me that windows cannot start and startup repair will need to be run or I can select to ignore this and try to start normally. Either option yields no improvement. After working with each of those options I just decided to reformat the drive and start the install again. Even after the drive was wiped and fully formatted I get the same error once the windows installation finishes.
Ethernet controller is a problem to my computer. I bought at Laptop from China, I removed Chinese Windows 7 and put English Version, then I had a problem of Ethernet controller.
