Can't Enable Toolbars?
Mar 31, 2011I am using Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 9. I can't enable any of the toolbars.When I click Tools > Manage Toolbars, all of my toolbars are disabled. When I highlight a toolbar name both the enable and disable buttons are shaded and neither one can be selected.

Sep 21, 2009I am a long time user of Windows XP. And I have very basic and specific ways of browsing and launching needed apps and getting to my files.
I recently volunteered my little brothers PC to be the Windows 7 guinea pig. I installed windows 7 with its awesome and simple new gui installer, ran all the updates, video drivers, the works.
Then when I went to add a toolbar to the right hand side of the screen by dragging an empty folder to the edge, the folder just bounced back.. Top, left.. no good. I chatted with several people I know using 7 and they tried with no avail as well. It works on Vista, XP and probably even back to 98-95.
Has this REALLY useful and SUPER IMPORTANT (at least to me) option been removed from the "newest and best" windows build?
Example of "MY" Auto hiding Windows XP sidebar. Easy access to all my root drives, a cascading explorer, expanding games, and single click fully labeled program shortcuts.
Showing Cascading One click file browsing. Just have to mouse over to expand sub folders to easily find buried files.
Windows Update Wipes Out All Toolbars

Aug 30, 2012I use my acre aspire 552 amd athion x2 p320 OS regularly with norton antivirus. I tried to turn on my laptop and windows has failed to load. I have tried safe mode and launching the Self launching fix which has sort of fixed the problem however it take about 40 minutes to progress from the start page to the desktop. Furthermore the toolbars don't has changed into almost a windows 98 equivalent. I launched norton and it told me my computer was at risk with problems being intrusion Prevention.

Oct 8, 2011I baught a new computer and everything was working well until my computer did an update. This was within 24 hours of buying the PC and bringing it home. Ever since the update everytime either i shut my monitor off or is going iunto sleep mode when i bring it out of sleep mode or turn the monitor back on all of my desktop icons and the tool bars are gone. I'm left with nothing but a backround picture and the rest is blank. I've been fixing this by right clicking the desktop and then clicking screen resolution and changing the screen to the other choice but this is a true pain to do everytime.

HDDs Show In BIOS, But Do Not Show In Disk Management
Oct 14, 2011just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management.
System Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO

However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.
Backup Files Will Only Show Up If Click Show Hidden Files And Folder?
Sep 24, 2012I was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.

Win 7 Won't Show A Particular Network
Aug 7, 2009i recently installed Windows 7 on a Dell Vostro 1310 Laptop. Everything is running very smooth, no problems whatsover but one, which i just cant figure out!
WLAN was working like a charm. Could connect and use the internet without a problem. Yesterday i took my laptop to my gf's, and tried to connect to her router, but the list of available networks just wont show that one. It shows like ten other networks, but the one i need is not displayed.
With another Laptop (Vista) i could connect without a problem and good connection, so could i with my HTC Touch.
I tried manually setting up a connection to that particular network but it didnt help either.
Is that a common problem, or does anybody can help me in any way? Im really out of ideas.
Show The Desktop?
Nov 17, 2009I downloaded RocketDock and I'm having some issues with it while using "Show the Desktop." Whenever I click it, the Dock disappears because the OS considers it like every other program and minimizes it since its blocking the desktop. Is there any way to get it so that clicking "Show the Desktop" won't minimize RocketDock, much in the same way that sidebar is still kept on the screen? Currently, the only way I can use the dock is by minimizing any windows blocking it so that I don't need to click "Show the Desktop" which makes it disppear.

W7 Won't Show HDD In My Computer
Feb 21, 2010So the drives in question are 3 Seagate 1.5tb 7200.11 HD's.
They show up fine in the BIOS where they are all listed as slaves (ga-p55-ud4p) and in Device Manager - which lists them all as working properly. I cannot distinguish one from another in Device Manager, and the one that is working has very important legal files on it.
However, I can only see one in "My Computer" - but the other 2 I cannot "see" them so I cannot access them.
The one I can see is the oldest one and was not altered when the older PC was upgraded (upgraded all components except HD's and OS). I also kept 2 older WD 500AAKS which are both working fine as well.
The two I cannot see: One is brand new. The other was reformatted to blank (quick) on another PC (which was upgraded to Win7 at that time) which subsequently could not see the drive. I moved it over to this faster PC and still cannot see it.
All these 1.5tb Seagate drives are CC firmware so are not part of the older firmware issue. None have any 1.5gb jumpers on them.
Mobo drivers are all fully up to date - I just re-updated all of them. Windows is up to date. Windows does show in the Troubleshooter that a USB controller driver is not found and I cannot seem to find out how to install it (via uninstalling it, updating drivers, etc etc - question thread

PC Does Not Show The Pictures
Sep 4, 2012I just bought a DELL OPTILEX w/ Windows 7 Home edition.I click on PICTURES folder:And the pictures, as everyone knows, area displayed in thumbnails....well the thumbnails display the fax picture viewer logo on all ......NOT the actual picture. I only can see the actual picture when I double click on it and it does open the picture. But since for my job I need to select pictures to attach I need to be able to see the picture in the thumbnail. But I cant!I tried changing thumbnails size to all sizes and nothing. I tried going to My Computer, right click, properties, advance system setting, advance, settings, selecting ALL, selecting the correct one, deselecting all and still nothing. No way to display the pictures at all!

Jul 24, 2011Recently after I finished editing a .txt file in WordPad, I closed out of the program, but then immediately opened it back up because I forgot to change something. The program loaded, and I could see it and it's preview on the taskbar, but it would not show up on my screen. I hadn't installed or modified anything very recently also. Then later that day, after opening up Google Chrome, it did the same thing. I would not show the window on my screen. When I minimized and maximized the window from the taskbar, the animation showed the window going to the far right hand side and off the monitor. When I pressed "Windows Key +Tab" it showed the window, but wouldn't bring it to the front again. I'm not sure what is going on with my computer.

How Programs Show Backup
May 24, 2012I am Every time I need to redo my system, I totally reformat my hard drive, re-install the OS and then re-install all my software. Maybe this is the only way to do it but is there a way to re-install my OS (Win 7 Pro) and not have to reinstall the software? In other words, I guess I am talking about a partition for the OS and the rest for the software? If this is possible, then by only installing the OS, how will my programs show back up? Maybe I am not getting the picture but someone told me this can be done, thus saving me much time.
