I am deathly afraid to turn off my computer because my brother recently did and that caused it to freeze at the blue HP startup screen, but thats another thread. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. I use zone alarm full security suite if that helps at all, I don't know if it deleted a registry file or something.

I have a new build using Windows 7 HP SP1 64-bit which has been up and running for about a month. MS updates for 11/14/12 included the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Win 7. This update failed to install (several times), even when done alone. First time since building system where it has failed an update. Only thing I have added since original build is a EVGA GTX 650 video card (last week).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried to install Plex Server which during install called for Bonjour to be installed. When I accepted it tried to install Bonjour but failed. I have no idea why. I then tried to install the newest Version of I tunes because I thought it comes with Bonjour. Now Itunes fails with "the installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured"I have tried to clear out the %Appdata% Temp directory and searched the registry for Apple and Bonjour and couldn't find any entries. When I look at the error Log that is created by the iTunes installer it says it errored out because of Installer Error 1618 which obviously means "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install". Does anyone know how I could find that installer process and terminate it so I could install Bonjour or Itunes. I am out of luck of finding anything on the web.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am seeing a utility that will let me enter the command that I use in XP and then tell me what the corresponding comand or sequence of comands are in Windows 7. What I am finding is I am spending many hours locating the correct set of sequences to do something which is very straightforward in XP and do the same thing in Windows 7. I end up going onto the web and have to search for the command and the information necessary to accomplish a task. An example of this is creating an ODBC connection. In XP it exists as an option in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data SOurces ODBC. In Windows 7 now its buried in Windows System32/odbcad32. I am not seeing any real advantage of using Windows 7 other than running in 64bit mode. It seems that the order of where things/commands are located and what commands are called is many times changed as well.

What I like is that Intel offers the choice of a Xeon 80 watt non-graphics processor versus it's 95 watt on-board graphics processor. It would have been nice if Intel offered that same choice in it's Core line. Many users prefer a PCI graphics card and don't use the on-chip graphics, so why not a choice, like with the Xeon line?

I have installed all the latest Windows 7 updates. I also tried sfc /scannow and I turned off MS security software and firewall all to no avail.Is there anything else I can try? "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
I've looked this error up, I have reinstalled the C++ redistributable packages, and it does not work. Basically whenever I am finished recording a fraps video, or even if I navigate (via Windows Explorer) to the directory in which the video files are located, I will get this error. As well as playing or moving the files. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a newer version of fraps, but still, no go.
Which gpu has better graphics performance. I have the choice between those two (Geforce 630m or Radeon 7670m). I'm looking to buy a new laptop soon and that is the two I have choices from. I'd like to know which would be better. It would be for gaming some,Photoshop (graphics design and image editing), Skype, and so forth. They're both around the same price range, so I'd like to get the best for the money. They'll both be equipped with a Intel Core i5. The Geforce is priced a little higher than the Radeon, but not too much. As I said, they're around the same price. I've always liked Geforce, but I'd like an opinion.

So I installed a beta version of W7 Ultimate and it's displaying a watermark that says "this is not a legit version". I never had a legitimate product key.I want to purchase a real version and upgrade appropriately.Can I purchase an Upgrade license to Windows 7 Ultimate or do I have to purchase a Full version?Also, what if I wanted to install Windows 7 Home Edition instead of the Ultimate version. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version.

I need to know if I can use a clean install disk for Windows 7 Ultimate to upgrade from Vista or if I have to use an Upgrade version?
I'm leaning towards buying the clean install disk so that if I should loose the hard drive at some future point I could just clean install Win 7 Ultimate from the disk without having to first install Vista and then upgrade.
Regardless of which type I purchase, am I better off to buy the OEM disk from the machine manufacturer (Toshiba) or just purchase any OEM disk? Of course, if I want Microsoft support then I need to purchase retail disks.
I'm trying to install some applications on a Lenovo ideapad with windows 7 home premium, 64-bit, SP1. I'm getting the following error - "The version of this file is not compatible with the the version of windows you're running." I've installed all of these specific applications (e.g. RealPlayer, Logmein, Windows 2007 Compatibility Pck File Format Converter) and many other 32-bit apps on other Windows 7 64-bit machines, including 2 other Lenovo laptops with the exact same specs, purchased at the same time, with absolutely no issue.
