View 1 RepliesI've got a Compaq Presario CQ61, Windows 7 SP1 installed, fully patched. I've got no sound from internal speakers and headphone jacks. I've uninstalled drivers and re-installed, I've used DriverMax to find drivers as well, uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. Thats what's showing in my Device Manager. Volume Control is not muted, and maxed out for volume, and there is movement when clicking on the volume control just no sound.

-i have instaled the latest realtek driver for my windows 7 32bit
-i have enabled my onboard sound in bios
mobo : asus p5gc-mx/1333
and this is my problem: start-control panel->sound on playback device, my speaker not plugged in although i have plugged it in
So I am not getting any audio through my speakers anymore this happened after I unplugged my headphones but it doesn't disable that they are unplugged I open my Realtek HD Audio Manager and it shows that the front jack has headphones in when they indeed aren't. I can plug in my USB headset/mic and get sound through there due to it coming up as its own device so its something to do with my speakers in headphone mode.

My computer is dual boot with ubuntu, and this problem appeared when I upgraded my Ubuntu version - still, I know that the jack works as it is working fine in Ubuntu, and Im sure the problem is fixable within windows!
My computer is using the IDT audio control panel, and according to windows everything us up to date and fine.
I tried searching for the solution to this problem but even after installing the realtek drivers, i still get that issue of no speakers or headphones.Below is information about the onboad sound.

I had not used my desktop for one week due to some problem of too much dust accumlating in the machine. Due to this the system would not power up. After the dust was removed, system powers up but i now get this problem with sound. Before this everything was fine. The speakers work fine on the laptop.I installed the drivers from the motherboard driver disc. I am using a gigabyte board (GA-G31M-ES2L).I have installed the drivers directly from the gigabyte website for my motherboard as well as from the realtek website. Also updated bios online from gigabyte server. But none of these methods causes sound to be restored.Theres no exclamation mark by the audio drivers in Device Manager. I have removed the audio drivers and after a restart, i still get the "no speakers or headphones are plugged in" error on the speaker icon.In device manager after restarting the system, i get the "high definition audio" device listed under "Sound, video and game controllers".Now i am wondering there is something wrong with the motherboard.
Just finished building a new computer and my sound will not work. I have installed and uninstalled drivers several times now.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since last night, my internal speakers will only work if something is plugged into the headphone jack, be it headphones or external speakers. This happened right after I unplugged some external speakers. In control panel, it says headphones are plugged in when they are not and that they are not plugged in when they are. Sound comes through both the speakers and the headphones when headphones are plugged in.Oddly enough, Skype login sounds still play. Windows startup sounds and all other media, videos, etc doesn't work without the headphones however.I have tried updating the sound card driver using the automatic detection program from the AMD website. Then I tried updating the sound card driver via the HP website. Then I tried a system restore. Nothing has worked so far.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have problem with my sound/sound card.My notebook is HP 620, product number WS730EA#BED, OS Windows 7 32bit.Audio driver is IDT.This notebook has HDMI outport and couple days ago I connected it with my Toshiba TV, which you can connect with HDMI cable. So I connected notebook and TV and there was picture but not sound. In sound options I made Digital Audio (HDMI) as a default device, so I can have sound on TV, and there wasn't any sound. I restarted my notebook and there was the same problem - there wasn't sound on TV again.I disconnected notebook from TV. There wasn't sound on notebook either. As a matter of fact there is no sound to this day.In IDT audio control panel everything is muted and it's impossible to unmute speakers or headphones.Device Manager doesn't see problems with soundcard. It says that everything is OK.On speaker icon is red x and says "no speakers or headphones are plugged in". When I troubleshoot it, it can't fix it and it says that it is disabled.I tried with updating the drivers - doesn't help.Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling it - doesn't help.In control panel -> sound says that HDMI is not connected (you can't disable it), speakers are default (but you can't configure it) and headphones are default (you can't configure them also). When I go to the recording devices the sound control panel just freezes....So I thought that problem is with the sound card and I bought the external USB sound card. In BIOS I disabled the integrated sound card. So I installed the external sound card. Everything installed like as it should be. The notebook recognizes the external sound card and says that everything is ok, but again I have red x on sound icon and again I have no sound via external sound card. I rebooted the notebook, same problem. So integrated or external sound card - I have no sound. Nothing helps, I tried everything to repair it, but it doesn't help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new Asus P8Z77 motherboard for my desktop and a new SSD. For awhile everything was working till literally out of nowhere my audio cuts out (I was on the desktop doing nothing when it happened). It detects my mic input and headphones when they're not plugged in, and when they do plug in the computer spazzes out and constantly disconnects then connects the microphone on windows. The speakers are flat out always detected regardless of being plugged in. My HDMI audio however works fine and I've gotten to get sound out of my monitor. Since then I have formatted completely and uninstalled/reinstalled all audio drivers from the realtek official site however the issue is still the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.
I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.
I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.
Any headphones I plug in to either of the two ports, the right headphone doesnt work. i tried with different headphones none of them work ( new or old ones.) when i try plug the headphones on others pc and laptop, both right and left side is working fine external speakers work well. sound balance settings is at 100 and when i press test button i hear from two headphones. But the problem is, the left headphone is the only one I can hear out of when fully plugged in(when playing audio or video)
maybe there is some sound setting problems, or any updates that caused this problem, i set it to default but still i got the same problem, there is no sign that i missing my sound driver in my device manger.
I'm running a 32 bit Win 7
(The odd thing is it was just fine with one of my headphones a few minutes ago but now nothing! its not working again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha headset for Christmas and tried them out. I plugged in the USB thing that came with it, which allowed you to plug the headphones and mic into a USB port, and it installed the device fine. Right now I have to send them back because of a problem with the headset. But when I unplugged the USB I noticed that I have no speaker in playback devices. And when I plug in my older headphones into the front of the computer they don't appear in the playback devices. I tried checking "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices" but all I get are four Digital Audio (HDMI) devices. The same thing shows up in Device Manager. I could use my headphones but only when the Sound Blaster USB thing was plugged in. I have Realtek High Definition Audio but now it doesn't show up in Device Manager. Also, my speakers are built into my monitor.
