I recently installed build 7100 of Windows 7. I have had it for a few days, and decided to install Halo PC. When I popped the CD into my DVD Drive, the auto-run didn't start. So I decided to double click on the DVD icon in My Computer.
My PC froze up and I had to restart my computer. Going into device manager, I'm told that my DVD drive works perfectly. But when I try to click on "Properties", the Device Manager window freezes (it is still frozen and running in the background while I am writing this post).
Is it a driver problem? Or is there some fix I need to download?
This problem also happened to me back when I installed build 7000. In between then and now I have been using XP.
Edit: It seems to be an on/off thing, because it is working now.
my sony vaio fs640w had problems with video controller, after installed Windows 7 32bit, just only standard VGA Graphics adapter working, video controller didn't. my sony used Intel 915GM/GMS/910GML chipset?
I received my sony vaio 15.5 eb series i3-370m laptop today. However, the left click on touchpad right clicks. Support told me its a hardware issue that cannot be fixed and that they can send someone over. Also, if i want to close the firefox window... pressing the left or right click works which is a problem with this touchpad. The scrolling of the touchpad however has no problem though. Would you guys suggest i sent this laptop back instead? If they send someone to come and repair it, they would have to open the laptop and i don't think that is good for the long run of Should i just request a new one instead?I would assume i don't have to pay the extra $50 now correct? The battery life i notice is around 2 hours just web browsing. I am thinking if i should just return it and get a sager 5135 because i heard battery life is 3 hours and it offers 1080P. But i know that laptop does not look as good as a sony one. I will mainly play online poker with applications on it and browse and listen to music.I just talked to support and did trouble shooting and installed a driver. What is funny now is that the left and right click buttons don't even work anymore. However, the left click and button button works if i click on those items on my taskbar such as internet explorer and windows explorer. But if i click it a 2nd time, a new explorer will show up. I cannot click on anything besides those 3 items on my taskbar with the left/right click now.Someone said this is a setting issue but i did everything with settings and it doesn't work. Sony support though say this is a a hardware issue and because when i plug an external mouse and it works perfectly fine, its the hardware and i would need to have a sony technician come over.Would you say my buttons work fine based on what is happening? I have checked the settings for it and everything is fine. This is so frustrating.
So this problem started yesterday afternoon. I didn't download anything, but suddenly I was unable to browse the web. I tried all the web browsers I have but no websites would load. But skype and teamspeak still work.
My work programs require XP and supposedly will not function on windows 7 nor the XP mode of same. I need a new computer, most likely a laptop, so I can work while traveling. I can't buy XP anymore. Any suggestions other than a new job?

My new computer, Windows 7, does not have a firewire port so I am unable to port video from my rather old Sony Handycam DCR-TRV19E. Is there any software available to use with the USB port?
My Vaio took a bang earlier today and now windows won't boot up and I'm just getting blank screens all the time. I can't even reset to factory as I can't access anything. Hard drive light is constantly on but can't hear much noise from it.

Anyone know how to get all special keys (fn, media) working on a Sony Vaio in Windows 7? Obviously Sony has no drivers for these and no, the Vista versions do not work at all. Tried already.
I have a Sony Vaio NS and I wanted to upgrape to Windows 7 RC Build. I was wondering would I have to install any drivers since I am upgraping and not clean installing?
I have just built myself a new HTPC using windows 7 and based on a ASUS M4A78-VM mobo. I installed windows using a normal monitor via VGA and everything was fine however when I moved the HTPC to my TV a Sony KDL-40V4000 and tried to connect via HDMI the BIOS screen came up, then Windows starting screen, then nothing the TV lost the signal.
I was editing on Sony Vegas Premium 10.0 yesterday, but when I came to it today it refuses to open when I click it. Might this have something to do with a newer version of Windows 7?
I have installed and re-installed Vegas Movie studio 11 Platinum several times to try resolve this issue but not getting anywhere. I've the Sony forums but can't find an answer there and it's getting very frustrating not being able to use the software. All the other programs in the suite work fine but when I try to open DVDA nothing happens at all. I don't even get as far the registration page.
