Sata Drive Recognition Preventing Addition Of 2nd Drive

Dec 8, 2012

Have XP on C drive and looking to install Win 7 on 2nd Sata drive for dual boot. However, when installing a 2nd Sata drive my XP bios identifies it correctly as a Sata drive but my PC Disk management recognises it as a Removeable disk preventing me from installing Win 7. I have tried a couple of different Sata disks with the same result.

Windows 7 Slave Drive Recognition

Jun 23, 2011

I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 and I'm having problems. I had originally used IE 9 but i was having so many problems i went back to using IE 8. Right now the problems that i'm having are, Windows 7 does not recognize my slave drive and it will not let me open an external link for a new window from an open window (thus i can't even verify my e-mail address for the game i want to start playing). Oh and one other thing, i keep getting a message that says i'm not running a valid windows program. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I've included the TSG SysInfo as well.

Flash Drive Recognition Delay?

Jul 12, 2010

Every time I plug my flash drive in to my windows 7 x64 PC there's a delay of about a minute before it gets recognized by the operating system (where it seems to be doing nothing - the light on the drive is just on not flashing). The drive's fine as it gets instantly recognized on Linux and OSX.This always coincides with two errors in event viewer: both event ID 7011, and the same error:A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the <service> service.Except one of the errors is with the ShellHWDetection service and the other is the LanmanServer service.Any ideas why this is happening? It didn't happen before with my old flash drive. The new one's a Corsair 8GB voyager drive is that

Ram Recognition

Nov 1, 2009

I installed win 7 on my computer with no issues. I built an intel system. My wifes computer is an AMD 6000+ with 4 gig ram. I installed win 7 64 bit just as I did on my intel system only the AMD computer only recognizes 2 gig of ram. I flashed the very latest bios (Gigabyte board) and still only recognizes 2 gig. I even noticed when the bios scrolls through the boot up process I can see only 2 gig. Anyone have any clues. I saw on another forum that some are having that issue once they installed win 7, but others don't.

Slow On IDE Drive

May 15, 2009

A few days ago I tried to install W7RC on my machine. I tried to install it in a 80GB SATA drive, but the installation would always freeze at extracting files, then shut down with an error message.

I tried then to install it on another 80GB drive, this time an IDE one. The installation failed again (not at the same point but a little while after). But after a couple more tries, it eventually installed.

Now everything's fine and installed, but incredibly slow. Like, 10 or more minutes to boot. Then when actually using the menus inside Windows, it's slow at times (I'm guessing it's when Win needs to load something) but overall it works well.

Could this extreme slugginess be caused by the IDE drive? Now I've read in some other topics that extracting errors during installation usually disappear if the installation DVD is burned at slow speeds... But I'm not willing to download and burn the whole thing again just to find it had nothing to do with the drive.

What do you guys think? Will it boot faster in a sata drive?

Speech Recognition Software

Sep 11, 2010

I read on this forum about the speech recognition software on windows 7. So I found it but only by doing a search first. I thought it would be in the program list. I think it is great but I am only learning with it. I am suprised it actually knows what I am saying without learning like a lot of other software out there.

Anyway, thats not what I am writing about. What I would like to know is about the commands it has. I can only find about half a dozen. I have used the help menu but dont get far with that. For anyone who uses it can you tell me where to find the commands or do you have to train it to your own.

Windows 7 Add-ons For Speech Recognition

Apr 23, 2010

I use speech recognition a lot. I think the speech recognition in Windows 7 is great, although I miss some things in it. For those who also have RSI, or just want to use the voice, I found two add-ons that I think is pretty interesting. The first add-on is the Windows Speech Recognition Macros, you can group several speech commands at once with it. The only drawback is clicking anywhere on the screen with your voice. Windows default "mouse grid" takes a lot commands to move and click. For this issue, I found another add-on for clicking anywhere that is pretty fast. It is a tiny add-on called Voice Finger [URL], and by the way I'm using it right now.

Speech Recognition Is Not Working?

Nov 9, 2012

I have used speech recognition on my computer before, with a minor issue of it giving me grief over specific words. I haven't run it in a while and discovered it wasn't working right tonight. I thought it was my microphone, and sure enough when I unplugged the mic and ran the tutorial it was back to it's old self. Until I tried to run it in wordpad. I spent no less than ten minutes trying to dictated the words "she lifted"! Even when I finally got the right correction it wouldn't accept the numbers. I tried saying "spell it" but no, I had to manually click on it before it would open the spell it tab. Then it wouldn't correctly spell it either so I said forget it and had to type the thing myself! I couldn't even get 2 words in after typing it myself before it had to correct again. Fifty or more times I tried saying "the lid" and NEVER got the proper words out of the corrector. At this point I am extremely frustrated and angry and I will admit freely I descended into swearing at the speech recognition while attempting to close the piece of crap. Needless to say, now I don't even feel like writing. Now tell me what the ever loving point is to this program if it only works in the stinking tutorial? In trying to save my carpal tunnel from a great deal of typing I only ended up screaming in frustration at the computer and making my throat raw.

Speech Recognition Won't Start?

May 28, 2010

I'm quite interested in utilising Windows 7's speech recognition. I set up my mic, done the tutorial, and even trained my voice a couple of times. However, When I click "Start speech recognition," nothing happens! I don't get an icon in the tray, or the program itself at the top of the screen.

I've tried turning off all non-windows services and programs on startup (this was a Vista fix that I found on the net), but still nothing.

Monitor Recognition Failure?

Oct 13, 2012

I've been meaning to post on here for a while, there is a fault with my computer that i think is to do with windows and i was wondering[CODE]I thought initially it was a defunct in my graphics card. So i got a different model of monitor and replaced that with one of my dell 2007fp, leaving the other dell plugged in. After rebooting windows, both of these monitors displayed together seamlessly! So why isn't this the case between the two 2007fp's?ater is swapped the two 2007fp's around so the then unused one is being used with the different monitor, again seamless results!I even re-installed the OS and all drives, but still the two 2007fp's didn't work together when windows loads
