Slip Streaming Updates For Windows 7 And Office 2010 - Can It Be Done
Apr 16, 2012
If you've ever re-installed Windows 7 recently (or office 2010) there's a myriad of updates that can take a long time (I think around 1 GB of downloads if you include Office). Is it possible like we did with XP to "Slipstream" the Service packs and updates into Windows 7 and an Office install media.Office 2010 sp1 is a separate download and Windows 7 retail doesn't always have SP1 included.

I recently formatted my Dell Inspiron Duo netbook, with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I installed all of the software which I run on it without any problems. When I try to update Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus (32bit) Windows Update only finds a few updates, and after they're installed it doesn't find anymore updates. It doesn't even find Office 2010 SP1.{Note: I had no problems with other updates like Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or other Microsoft updates.I tried uninstalling Office 2010 and installing it again but nothing changed. The privacy settings which show up the first time you run an Office application I set it as "Recommended settings".I also tried downloading Office 2010 SP1 (32bit) and when I tried to run it an error came up saying something like version mismatch (I presume that you need to install other updates before running the setup & I also tried to download an other update but the same error came up.)

I have now spent what seems to have been Months trying to get these updates that I keep being told about to install. I have trawled the Web, looked at all the fixes and checked registry entries, nothing works. To be honest I am at a complete loss, everything else I have updates, but this 2010...no chance.I am UK based and the software was purchased for my daughter while she was at Uni from Software4Students, it does say not to be sold outside Europe.I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit?

I just can't get the updates to install. I installed Office 2010 witha clean install last month & had to reinstall it twice to get it to do the updates into Ofiice 2010. Now it's doing the same thing again this month. W7Pro X64 Updates installs fine. I even installed the System Update Readiness Tool & performed a full system scan with no items found.Updates KB982726, 2494150, 2493983. I tried each one seperately & downloaded to my HD & still fails.Windows Upate states Error 80070643

I was trying to install updates on my wife's computer for office 2010, when I received a message that updates failed. On going back to previous updates, I realized, that none of the updates had installed. I immediately checked to make sure the office setup exe file was enabled, and it was. Windows updates install just not office updates. (Amd 64 dual-core 6 gb ram 2 itb hdd. windows vista home premium 64-bit). What can I do to get these updates to install? Event viewer gives this output: Product: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 -- Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%.I also got a error code:80070643. What do I need to do to get the updates to install?

in 2003 there was a question, that question was 'Update this instance of your meeting update only?' Simply, and worked. In 2010, it's gone. How do I update the text of my meeting without my delegates all getting the update.
Why, because it's helpfull to add notes, becuase it used to be there, becuase 2010 makes things better - not

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine. Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have Win 7/Pro 64 bit, i5 processor, 8 GB RAM.I purchased the 64 bit version of Microsoft Office (via download). Why does the Windows Update list updates to the 32 bit version of Office? Is there any reason to install (or not install) these updates?

Having upgraded my desktop PC to Office 2010, I need to import three seperate letter template files for use in Word. These were lost during the upgrade but are on my laptop, which still runs Office 2003, as .dot type files and I also have them copied to a memory stick. However, I am at a loss as to how and where to save them into the new programme on my desktop PC. If it makes a difference, I should add that I do not use Libraries and have disabled them.

I now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it. How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

My new computer came with Office 2010 Starter installed. I believe I activated it. Then I installed my last legal version of Office Home 2007. Now neither one seems to be working properly. I probably should have uninstalled 2010 prior to installing 2007. How do I remove 2010 without screwing up 2007?

I have a licensed version of Windows 7 Pro, which I purchased from Digital River on the Web. I have since updated it to SP1, and I removed the rollback files to save hard disk space. My question -- how do I get a slipstreamed SP1-ready version ISO which I can use with my license? I'd like to keep a copy ready on a DVD in case I ever need to do an in-place reinstall of Windows, should it ever get hosed (I understand that this should be possible, as the Windows license is a separate entity from the ISO itself -- or am I wrong?). I assume that any version of Win 7 Pro downloaded now would have the SP1 files slipstreamed into it. With the version I have now, I would have to do a complete reinstall.

I am running Office 2010 Pro on Windows 7 Home premium. No problems for months. Now needed to hook on new network. Printing is fine in all programmes in Office and others (Thunderbird, Chrome, Foxit Reader, etc...). All except in Excel. The programme (Excel) does not see the printer, or when it does it does not let the printer be chosen.Printers are all Kyocera or Brother, but different models.

New laptop, Windows 7, office 2010 installed, frontpage 2003 doesn't seem to see the office 2010 version on c: so I located my old copy of office 2003 (full version) and put that in the cd drive and pointed it towards that, but that didn't work either. Any suggestions, I am too old and tired to learn a new html program. I have the Windows 7 home version.

They are compatibles? In Start->All Programs browse to the |frontPage icon Right Click, then i choose compatibility with Windows XP SP2 that is the option that FP choose for you and nothing works rigth. I prove with other compatibility options and nothing...I´ve got 2 virtual machines running in Windows 7- 32 bits. They have Office 2010 packet and Frontpage 2003. In one machine i could upload archives to frontpage but i can´t save that archive in FP in that moment, i must save it in another site and later upload at FP again. That is a little problem comparing the problem that i have with the other machine. With the other machine when i try to upload any kind of archive to FP the error is "the server was closed inexperately".

When I upgraded to Vista I had a folder system which had been developed over many years and had no interest in Vistas pre installed sytem, so I installed my old file system named UserName in C:UsersLoginNameDocumentsUserName. This turned out to be a poor choice. Now I want to move to a new Windows 7 computer which I have had for a few months. I am considering a location that would be more convenient and wonder if C:UserName would be a reasonable choice. Microsoft's choices in Windows 7 and Office 2010 are not appealing to me. I am looking for suggections.

Ordered a Dell Vostro configured specifically to run XP mode, along with Office 2010. Have received machine, recognize Office isn't installed for XP. Have reviewed several threads addressing issue. My question: I didn't want to purchase Office to run on Windows 7. Our server runs on XP, so that would be useless to me. Can't I obtain a license for what I purchased?
