I had no idea where to put this, so I've chosen General.I've had a major issue lately:
Every short once in a while, only when I open my primary partition Drive C, explorer.exe freezes and the only way out is to close it.I have no idea why this occurs, and can only really tell that this closing also takes an enormous amount of time.
For the longest time I've had this problem where my computer will be on, everything working, then all of a sudden it stops but it doesn't crash.. no blue screen.. and oddly enough it doesn't completely lock up. I try to move the mouse and it may not move instantly, but a few seconds later it will jump and freeze again. It acts as if it goes from normal speed to then processing everything at about .0000001 frames per second, if that makes sense. Upon forcing down the computer, it will restart and hang at the "detecting IDE Drives" part of my Bios boot, then I fully force it down again and it boots up fine. At first it would only do this when I was downloading or installing with my 1.5TB drive installed so, I "uninstalled" it by disconnecting the power and SATA cable and it worked, didn't have any "slow down" or install/download issues after that.Now, I had plugged it back in a few months ago and everything was working fine, downloads were going perfectly fine, installs worked without a hitch, until today I decided to install XNA 4.0. When trying, it did the whole slow down/lock up and required me to restart. Recognizing it, I unplugged the drive again and rebooted. Tried to reinstall, then XNA 4.0 installer kept crashing saying "invalid Drive F:/" which is the drive I unplugged... why it was continuing to look for that drive I have no idea, anyways. I messed around with it a bit I plugged in a USB stick and renamed it to drive F:/, it would start installing but now still do this lock up. Some how after loading my BIOS on a boot and having only my 150GB raptor plugged in (no 1.5 TB, no USB drive) I was able to boot and install XNA 4.0 without errors. However, at the very end it started to lock up and slow down.
Now, whenever I boot my computer it continues to do this lock up, even with the drives I thought were problematic uninstalled. During start up it will make the windows chime and then start to slow down/lock up and act almost as if it's processing the sound in very, very slow motion. It would do this to video as well back when it would crash while I was playing games, until I initially unplugged the 1.5TB drive. Anyways, I am stumped now since it seems to be something completely different than a drive problem and do not know where to go from here. [code]
I've been using my Thinkpad w520 with windows 7 64 bit professional for more than a year without any major problem. Recently, the Explorer.exe started crashing occasionally and randomly when I was switching back to a file browser ... Been having some crashes.At first they occurred on start up. Claiming the computer wasn't properly shut down. Now today, the other crashes started, with the first happening out of nowhere, the second happening upon starting a video game. I've been without crashes for a while now, only having used my browser(Opera) and copying some files to an external hard drive. As well as the SF tool.I only have 2 dump files available. SF tool file should be in attachments, unless I made a mistake somewhere

The bluescreen error code is usually Stop 0x0000000A.The reason I am trying to reinstall my .Net framework is because some programs such as Nem's tools fail to launch and instead get an error saying "side by side configuration is incorrect". If I try to repair my .Net framework i get the same bluescreen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust recently installed Windows 7 x64 RC1 (Build 7100) on my HP DV6000 notebook, it has core2duo and integrated video card, etc.
The main issue I am having is that, everything works just fine (even faster than vista sometimes, which originally came with my notebook), but randomly, the system will stop responding (everything about it, the system will even stop sending data packets out over wireless or lan), and the harddrive light will lit up (not blinking just constant lit).
The mouse usually can be moved about but it cannot be used to click anything. After a few minutes the system will go back to normal. This is absolutely horrible when I am playing a game, as I would have to keep my fingers on the keyboard just incase the game would "defrost" suddenly.
The same issue also happened when I install the 32bit of Windows 7 rc1 on the same notebook. However this is not happening on my P4 notebook (IBM R40) so I can only assume that this is a hardware issue. But I have no references/parameters on how to trouble-shoot this. Anyone got a clue?
When i start my computer it hangs on windows 7 welcome blue screen. Then sometimes when i start it again it starts normally and sometimes it again hangs on welcome screen.Then i start in safe mode scan for viruses with microsoft windows essential and malwarebytes but there is no virus. I restart from the windows restore point and then windows start normally everything working but there is a error saying "system restore didnot complete successfully". Everything is working fine but whenever i restart this problem occurs.

It happen at aniytime, when i'm listening music, surfing the net, playing games, working with Excell or Words, etc. Sometimes, when a BSOD occur, i have to make reset because the computer is frozen. I sent bak the PC where i bought it but nobody found the problem.. I tried a memtest but everything was ok.

Its completly new but here is the kick. Sometimes when i use firefox..IE or opera or chrome....it works fine...sometimes when i press somewhere It freezes...but most common freeze is when i close browser...
I looked around internet and i can't find anything like this... I mean PC freezes like picture...i waited over 12 hours...and it was still frozen nothing seems to react...Keyboard or mouse...only to unfreeze i have to do hard reset
Win7 64 bits freezes with 2x2GB, but works with 2GB. The freeze occurs randomly (between 5 min and some hours after rebooting), is sudden, everything in the screen is stopped, no BSOD, no event log (except afterwards that detects the unproper shutdown).
I tried dual channel and single channel mode, to no avail.
With 2GB, I have been running for almost a week, no matter which of the two memory sticks I plug in, so apparently both of them are working properly.
The motherboard has 4 DDR2 banks, I have tried almost every combination: A1-A2 (dual channel, reccomended setting), A1-B2 (single), B1-B2 (dual on secondary banks).
My specs are at the left, but most notably it is Kingston memory and the motherboard is ASUS P5KC.
I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem I have experienced recently. Since a week ago, my computer has started to freeze at random times, which would lead to some random applications closing such as chrome or microsoft security control. I can still use my mouse and such, but the computer would be completely unresponsive. I have tried to do clean installs, with vista, and the problem still persists. I then used windows 7 to do a clean install and the problem still occurs. And at almost every startup the CHKDSK runs. I tried updating my graphics card, and still nothing has happened.

Historically, the crashes have happened in various situations, changing with each attempt to fix them. The most recent change I made to my system was to get rid of Norton Internet Security and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since then the crashes have become a bit more reproducible: about half the time I try to watch streaming video online the screen will freeze and the sound will stutter, requiring a hard reset.
I have run windows memory diagnostic, prime95, and various graphics card stress tests repeatedly, so I feel I can confidently say the problem is not hardware. Besides, this only started a few months ago, and my computer had been working just fine for a few months before then.
I went to hop on my computer as it wasn't in standby, just had been sitting there in the on position, I clicked on one of those catchy news articles on Yahoo, and then the screen freaked out and the color pink started to slowly take over my screen. I couldn't move mouse, nor keyboard. A hard reset was the only way out.
Alas, upon reaching the log in screen, I click my name, and await the load. Oh, but my computer wasn't having that, it decided that I will be presented with a big gray screen at first, then I restarted again, a pink screen, upon another restart a black screen. This happens always after I click on my name, and it goes to load the desktop.
So I tried scouring the net, tried every possible little solution I could think of, except most of the people's problems I found weren't like mine, theirs was the blinking mouse and black screen deal, mind doesn't even show a mouse cursor, it just goes into a solid color and freezes. Which a hard reboot is the only way out.

I am currently sitting in safemode with network support, camping this thread. So with that knowledge, safe mode boots up just fine with everything in tact. The things I tried: Check disk, it came back with an error I was only able to get to pop up once, so I don't have an exact phrasing of what it said, but basically something about a software change that couldn't be updated and then went to load up.
I did the memory check and it had no errors Did all the standard checks with my anti-virus software. I will even virtually kiss your face to death. Cause I am a broke college girl with like no money to buy extra hard-drives to backup all my school work. Which is pretty significant considering we're late into the semester.
I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My my laptop is about 6 months old with 8gb RAM. I have recently done a fresh install and ever since then I'm getting random screen freezes (it never happened before fresh install)... the mouse, keys, ctrl alt delete etc.wont respond and the only way out is to hold down power and restart.I thought it could be a RAM problem but I have checked with memtest with no problems found. I have also scanned with malwarbytes antimalware with nothing found.

No BSOD or resetting, it just freezes and I have to hold the power button to get it back.I don't think it's over heating, or memory or any of that because I can happily play games hour hours with no issues.I can watch films,or streaming media for hours and it's fine. I recently got a Kensington HyperX SH100S3B/120G SSD. I've been getting these stange BSODs. It doesn't happen during any particular kind of activity, usually it's just browsing the web or writing documents or something.
Every time the BSODs happen, for some reason the boot order switches from the SSD to my backup drive, and I have to go into the bios and change it. But other than that, my hard drive seems to be perfectly fine functioning afterwards...what's causing this??
All my components are pretty new, so I don't think hardware failure is very likely here. I've thought maybe I should update my bios? But I'm not sure honestly. My mobo is H67MA-E35-B3 LGA 1155 H67 mATX Intel Motherboard.
I'm having a problem with a new computer I bought with Windows 7 (64bit) installed. At seemingly random points in time it will crash on me completely. I've managed to find out from a dumpfile that the likely cause of this problem is something called Rdyboost.sys I've managed to find it listed as a driver in windows/System32. Apart from that though I'm not sure how to find it, and was wondering.

I check the events log and find a very large list of critical Kernel power 41 errors, with no other error before them most of the times. I can't seem to find any pattern to them, so I asume it's hardware related. There's also nothing in particular he does that triggers it. View 9 Replies View Relatedevery time i try to install windows 7 on my new build, i do a clean install, however it spends about a second on the copying files part, then waits a few minutes before it starts expanding files. it hangs at 0% for a few more minutes then it will start accelerating. it will crash at random points while it is "expanding files".
the crashes vary, sometimes the display will explode and look lagged out then look like small tiles, the display sometimes turns red where shadows are as well, it also likes to just freeze. it frequently likes to freeze at 76 or 46%.
i had 7 installed one time when i kept my mouse moving constantly throughout the installation, but then the freezes would happen when i would boot into normal windows, but not safe mode.

View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing Windows 7 RC1 I have noticed that fairly often when I minimize or close various windows they freeze partway through fading out. The system is still usable but those frozen windows stay on top for 5-15 seconds. The taskbar shows them as being closed yet they are faded into the background. I will try to get a screenshot later tonight but I am at work right now. All drivers installed OK automatically and the video card(s) are seen ok.
I wouldn't imagine it is a hardware problem.

Any thoughts? It's not a deal-breaker for using RC1 but it sure is annoying. Besides, RC1 fixed the beta issue where Winamp visualizations would freeze for 5 sec between song changes, which is a huge deal to me.

The computer then reboots itself without my involvement. Before anyone asks, my drivers are UP TO DATE, and my BIOS is up to date as well. So far, I have asked around and most people point to my graphics card overheating, or a very dirty (dusty) pc as a likely cause. Firstly, my computer is generally kept very clean, and I am monitoring my GPU temps and they are usually WELL within normal ranges (frankly it runs very cool). I have called EVGA for support, and they told me they had not heard of this problem before. They had me run a bunch of gpu stress tests, all of which provided no clue (they were clean) as to what could be wrong. Someone else told me to make sure my RAM was properly seated. I did check that and I can't see any seating issues.

Since about 4 months ago, my computer has crashed randomly. Every time this happens, I would try to reboot it, and it would start for between one second and five minutes before crashing again. It would continue to refuse to start like this for 10 minutes to three days at one point.It started four months ago, and occurs fairly rarely. Since the first "series" of crashes, it's only happened five or six times, with anytime between a week and a month separating the crashes.My computer has just crashed again, and as expected, is not opening right now, so I'm typing this from my tablet.if there's any specific information needed please tell me and I'd be happy to gather it once my computer decides to start up again.
Edit: More info - Windows 7, computer is about 10 months old, and I do this have a warranty on it. A curious note, the light on my wireless adapter remains on after the computer has crashes, whereas it would normally be off if I turned the computer off normally.Gives me the option of starting in safe mode, crashes there too. Usually it'll crash before the option is even offered. I've also tried plugging it into other sockets around the house, but still crashes.
My computer constantly crashes or freezes, espeically during movies. I suspect its my video card but i'm not sure. Is there any way of verifying? I have also attached the mini dump file.
