View 2 RepliesI'm trying to upgrade from XP to Windows 7. My PC is a Sony Vaio PCV-RZ504 with a TV tuner: Gigapocket.
I used the newest software available from Sony, but XP version is available only. Version of software is 5.5
Installing the software is no problem, but starting it gives unexpected errors. Has anybody succeeded in using gigapocket with Windows 7?
Update: last night I managed to install Sony Mpeg decoder software (part of the Gigapocket 5.5 installation kit). No strange low level errors occur any longer. But starting gigapocket generates the message "Unable to locate Sony TV Tuner". Starting the TV Setup tells me that another application is using overlay. Is windows 7 using overlay in any of its components?
when i got my laptop i was able to go to media player see a guide and watch tv and movies free...i don't know why i can't anymore...recently did a restore to factory but television watching still did not comeback...i have windows 7
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've decided to install a copy of windows 7 (one of the newest ones) although I'm not sure if my tv tuner is compatible. When they used to release BETA's I installed build 7000 which was a while back, but the tv tuner never worked, it would never recognize the drivers.
Although seeing as build 7600 is available I thought I might give it go, but just wanted to check up with the experts if the card will be compatible or if there is a way to make it compatible.
Uninstalled and reinstalled my Radeon graphics card driver and during this I downloaded the DriverTuner "free" programme. It detected (surprise, surprise) over 30 out of date drivers.Has anyone used this - is it worth registering for?terestingly I ran it after I reinstalled my graphics driver and it's recognised it but says there are problems still. This is interesting as I've been having the occasional crash with it (hence the uninstall/reinstall of it)

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my Windows 7 computer. I am used to XP file search dialog box. I looked at the "How to configure and fully utilize Windows 7 Search" on this site.
I think I am going to have to take a couple of days to figure this out.
Couple of quick questions: 1. In the search results window, I RMB a file and select "open in new window". the new window address bar does not contain a path. It contains some search info. How do I open in a new window and have the path in the address bar?
2. It appears the search does not limit itself to file names. It is also searching for contents. How do I prevent it from searching contents.
I switched from XP to 7 this year. I really enjoyed my time with XP especially because of the layout and I knew I would lose certain features like the way I could so easily search for files like mp3's and videos through my external hard drives. I do extensive film editing professionally, although im a bit disorganized as I am currently using two external hard drives and I am looking for some recordings I made from August 2011 but its difficult to find them because I don't have the same search features that Windows XP had compared to Windows 7. look for files through date ranges, type of file be it an image, audio, movie, or text document, and size all at the same time?

View 1 Replies View RelatedA true solution within Windows still does not exist in reference to searching for text strings within a zip file. You can find a filename if you know it.
But if you're like me, and you are an admin who is using zipping to archive up logs, but then must occasionally go back and search within those logs for text strings, the Windows Search function does not help you.
I have found a workable workaround however. [URL]
Simply download and install WinRAR, and then follow the instructions found in that link to search within (even nested zips) for text strings in order to find the correct file you are looking for to open.
I am searching for a file on my hard drives which I know is there because I saw it a few weeks ago but I can't remember how I named it. I know it is a document but when I type *,doc in the search box I get loads of e-mails and music files. How do I exclude all but genuine Word or publisher files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used "search" in microsoft before there was windows. From that time to 95, 98, xp, vista, but Windows 7 has me baffled. My Desktop pc died and I was well backed up but now I need to find some stuff in one of the drives. Windows support is useless. Give it more than one word and it is lost most of the time. When desktop comes up I am limited to all programs on the c drive of where to search. When I go to computer and select an external drive of course the search option disappears. I detest the standard layout as it is so different from all the other systems which were easy to use.
