Samsung SyncMaster 932MW
Here's my problem: when I turn my pc to sleep mode, everything is fine, but when I turn it back on it doesn't recognize my monitor anymore and the resolution is much to low. I've tried to put it back in control panel, but the right resolution isn't in there.

But, I've discovered that if you put it into sleep mode again and wake it up, it works perfectly again. Anyone who can help me solve this problem? It's very annoying.

P.S.: Excuse my English because I'm Dutch.

*edit*
Might be usefull you know my configuration:
Celeron D 366 2.8 Ghz
MSI 945GZM6-F
2 gig's of 533 Mhz RAM
80 gig HDD
DVD-RAM burner
on-board video and sound

Samsung Syncmaster 2243bwx Issue
Appears to be a driver issue with my Lenovo X61 laptop when using the Samsung Syncmaster 2243bwx as an additional display.

Anybody else running into this issue?

The native resolution is too large and is mishandled and the resolution 1440 x 900 which fits correctly produces the familiar nonnative screen res look.

So the real issue is that the native resolution is mishandled .

Anybody seen something similar and have a fix?

Cannot Set Resolution On Samsung SyncMaster
Win7 recognized the first Samsung SyncMaster on this machine (204BW) and set it properly to 1680 x 1050. But the second SyncMaster (206BW) was showing up as a Generic display.

Even after downloading the drivers for teh 206BW and setting them to be used for the second display, I still cannot get Win7 to allow me to set it to 1680 x 1050 so that I can duplicate the displays (one's inside a sound booth, one's outside, so they need to be duplicated, not extended).

Anybody run into a similar problem and know how to fix it?

The displays are running off of a Radeon X1600 series video card.

Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX Monitor Problems
I have an old HP Pavilion t730m desktop pc. It has an onboard Intel 82865 G Graphics Controller, with a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 943NW lcd monitor and 2.0 GB Ram and Pentium 4. Currently it is running on Windows Vista Ultimate without Aero Effects, but everything else is working perfectly.

I would like to upgrade to Windows 7, as a matter of fact I've done it twice now, but whenever I do it I have monitor resolution problems, either I'm stuck with an 800X600 resolution or other options but not the current resolution of 1440x900 that looks great. So I have restored my backup of the Vista installation.

Sometimes when I change the monitor resolution, I get an incomplete screen display and a black bar on the right end of the monitor.

I would really like to upgrade to Windows 7 since my computer seems to run better than with Vista, but the screen resolution is very annoying.

Samsung Syncmaster 933SN And Native Resolution
My monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 933SN won't display at it's native resolution which is 1360 x 768. It will only display at 1024 x 768 which only takes up 2/3rd's of the screen real estate!

I have the most updated driver for the monitor, 3.0.0.0 from Samsung, which says it works on XP, and VISTA 32/64, but for some reason Windows 7 isn't recognizing the native resolution. It was recognized easily on Windows Xp when I bought it a few months ago, so what can I do?

ATI Cards And Samsung LCD
i just installed the latest build of Windows 7 (build 7100). and there are a few problems with my graphics options. There are 2 systems that i tried this on and both are having the same problem. The first setup has a Ati Radeon X1650 by MSI, and the drivers install, signed by WDDM. Now the monitor/tv that i am using is a 42inch LCD TV, and has the 1920x1080 resolution, that is its native resolution. Windows 7, supports the resolution and has it as the recommended resolution, however, when i select it, my monitor says "mode not supported" this is the same problem i have with the HD2600XT card from ATI.

Both of these cards work in Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, and XP Pro SP3 and XP Home SP3, and even tried Server 2008 and server 2003. all of those OS's work with the native resolution on the monitor except the Windows 7 builds. anyone have an idea why this would be??

also, for the HD2600XT i did install the latest ati driver 9-4, and nothing is fixed. right now i am running it at 1280x768, but its skewed.

if anyone has any info on this it would be great, as i have tried everything.

i have also tried installing the 9-3 drivers on both cards, manually and using the installs. the manual way was to unzip the driver package and in device manager install the drivers myself.

The one system i have plugged into it now is a Shuttle Barebone SG31G2B, 4 GB of ddr2/800 ram, quad core q6600 2.4ghz, and the hd 2600xt.

LCD TV Vs. LCD Monitor
As the topic suggests, which one is better? LCD TV or LCD monitor?

Also, why in the world do LCD TV's have a lifespan in hours (ex 60,000 hours) associated with them?

What would happen after the lifespan expires?

Sorry if these are n00by questions but considering I am just now gonna shift to LCD monitor from my 2002 15" CRT, yeah I'm a certified n00b!

Syncmaster Driver Issue
I have a problem with the monitor driver, i have a samsung syncmaster 940bw i cannot get the driver to be recognized so i can get the native resolution, for you that dont know this monitor, on any other resolution other than the native the screen shows ALOT of blur what makes viewing of whatever impossible, i have tried using the driver that is for all windows but windows7 (x64) discards the driver and uses the pnp one, even with DriverMax the drivers wont be accepted,

i'm currently using the DVI input with powerstrip (on a radeon 3870) and i got it to force the native 1440 * 900 but on games the resolution wont be forced, because windows wont let the drivers do their thing i guess, i have tried using the vga but the screen gets corrupted, i have the beta Windows 7 ati drivers also, i'm very frustrated by this.

Refresh Rates On LCD Monitors
I just picked up a new monitor. It's a Samsung 2033 SW. 1600 X 900 with a 5Ms response time. It's only giving me one option. 60 hertz. Is this normal? My other one is very similar Samsung 932 BW+. 1400 X900 at 2Ms response. It's gives me a choice of 60 or 75 hertz.

I don't think it has anything to do with the video card or driver. Perhaps the driver for the monitor itself. I have the latest one from MS update for both monitors.

Also, how much does this matter. I have been told to go with the higher rate if possible. Do any of you know if this is the norm? Does it have to do with the difference in response time?

Resolution Not Sticking On LCD Monitor
Grandma's computer - trying to troubleshoot from Chicago for a computer located in California. About to kill myself. Please help.

Graphics card on computer is an integrated Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family adapter. I purchased a VGA splitter so that she can connect it to her LCD monitor and Plasma TV.

The monitor's native resolution is 1680 x 1050. HDTV is 1280 x 768.

My grandma complained that the resolution was messed up (I later learned that it was set to 800 x 600). I asked her to set the resolution to 1680 x 1050, but when she does, she gets the message that "the current input timing is not supported by the monitor display." I checked the refresh rate -- it was set to 60hz. None of the other 1.6 ratio resolutions would even show up on the available list of resolutions.

I had her plug the LCD monitor directly into the computer (sans splitter). No error message. The resolution stuck right away.

So, how do I use this splitter and still get 1680 x 1050 on her LCD? I don't even want to know what will happen to the TV's resolution when we do this, but I can pray.

Problems When Using D-sub(VGA) Only LCD Monitors
A lot of people are experiencing problems when using LCD monitors connected through D-sub(VGA).
I for example cannot use native resolution 1680x1050 after installing Windows 7 on computer with ATI X700. (It worked just fine on Windows 7 on old Intel 945 chipset motherboard with integrated video)

When I bring my kid's monitor which is basically the same model but with DVI input Windows 7 automatically(!) sets resolution to 1680x1050. After I switch back to my monitor with D-sub only input 1680x1050 isn't even listed in "list all modes" ("hide modes that this monitor cannot display" unchecked). This is really weird. (DVI-to-D-sub connector doesn't help)

The question is: Could this be solved by editing monitor.inf or something like that?

Viewsonic VX2433Wm LCD Monitor
I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Viewsonic VX2433wm (24inch HD LCD Monitor)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/x-series/vx2433wm.htm

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

*   Watch Movies (Which should include a DVD & High Definition (HD) Quality Videos).
*   Play 3D and Normal Games.
*   Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
*   Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. Then would all these LCD Monitors sold out today will be consider completely outdated not only in terms of technology but features as well. However, there are few things that comes to my notice for going with an LCD Monitor and not a Touchscreen one...

a) Touch Screen LCD Monitor is for sure going to be costly for at least upto a year right from its initial date of release.

b) There is simply no assureness whether the first phase of Touch Screen LCD Monitor released for Windows 7 would work well for its users. Now you see, this is the reason why its being said to always wait and watch till the time everbody has tried its hands on the product b'coz that exactly is the place from where the bug will arise therefore in the 2nd and 3rd phase, these bugs will be sorted out and a fresh stocks of the product completely free of factory defects will be released to the market.

I believe to always wait for the 3rd phase of the product to be released and then buy it b'coz if will not only completely be free of defects but would also contains tons of additional features at times and considering these, one could understand how terrible impact could be created on the 1st phase that users have already purchased in their over excitement to try them out.

c) Also, touch screen as seen in the past have not achieved much success since everybodys fingers are slightly big in size to click on the options which turns out to be smaller most of the times when compared to your fingers.

LCD Monitor Loses Contact With Computer
1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).

2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.

My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor.

Saturation Adjustment For Laptop LCD Panel
I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with ATI Mobility Raedon 3470 graphics card. In vista, I installed ATI Graphics driver,  I had absolutely no problem tuning overall saturation for the display and saturation for video display separately using ATI Console. But in windows 7, the video driver is replaced by WDDM 1.1 prerelease, which does not have tuning console as I had one in Vista.

The color calibration tool in it, allows me to change the gamma of the display, but I am not able to change contrast, hue or saturation for the display, save specifically for videos.  Pls, suggest if there is a work around or if I am missing anything.
