Thought it might be of interest for anyone else with this 5 year old printer to know that on my system it works with XP drivers (downloaded from the Samsung site) but NOT Vista drivers.
Right-click on the driver file, select Troubleshoot Compatibility, and follow the instructions.

HP does not offer a Laser Jet 1018 the driver for Window 7. Does anyone know how to get a driver that will be compatible with 7?

I have a Dell Laser Colour printer on the main computer and can't figure out how to let the laptop share the thing. When I look at adding the laptop to the home group it says it can't discover any computers on the network.
