Bottom line: Due to the other customizations I have implemented on my desktop, the left pane to my start menu is empty, and I have no use for it either. Is there an advanced way to disable / remove / hide just the left pane to the start menufrom being displayed, while still keeping the sharp looking aero glassy right side?
Auto-Hide will not take effect in Taskbar Properties when Apply button is used - even though Apply button grays out indicating change has been made. If Auto-Hide is set ON in Taskbar Properties and RESTART is performed, Auto-Hide may work one time but then TASKBAR will not hide again. This is on an HP Dv6 Notebook that came with Windows 7 installed. Auto-Hide feature used to work most of the time?
I need to know how to disable system properties (right-click from my computer AND control panel) for only the limited users NOT the administrator. I am using windows 7 ultimate.
Is there any way to disable the taskbar popup when you hover your mouse over the edge of the screen with auto-hide on? I still want to have it appear when I press the Windows key, but have that hotspot area somehow disabled. I've tried the app by Prisoner, but that disables the whole taskbar, leaving only the orb.I need this for a Tablet PC i'm customising - I find that when I want to press controls near the edged of the screen, I hit that bloody hotspot area and get the taskbar instead of what I've been aming for. Also, disabling the taskbar completely would not work, since I need the notification icons (battery meter etc.). The tablet has a dedicated Windows button... and nothing else in the way of physical controls.
I've installed StarDock Deskscapes lately , but I've uninstalled it because of a few bugs . After the uninstall , i can't seem to change themes or access the themes page at all . Any help ? I also got Fences Pro .
As the tittle says,I want to remove the properties feature because the feature isn't something I want to install.
Perhaps is caused by rootkit, however my ESET doesn't detect anything.
Look at screen-shot below, the properties option that I highlighted is what I want to remove, but I dunno the way to remove properties option. location where the properties feature located then I want to remove it as soon as possible. I try other AV because I just want to remove the option manually.
i'm looking for a way remove these options from my properties list.I want to remove the option where I highlighted, maybe there have some registry to clean up,please show me the way to remove these options
Recently on a site that explained how to install Windows 7 upgrade there was info on how to remove your Windows 7 Activation Key after activation.
The reason I want to do this is so that someone can't run Magic Jelly Bean and reveal my key. This happened before so that fix explaining hiding or removing it sounds great.
I've searched high and low and can't find this info anymore. Has anyone heard of how to do this?
i want to ask is if possible to hide the corners or part of the Windows 7 taskbar?'m talking about thisand to make it something like this but hidding the start orb and the clock and date at the side and just leaving the middle part, if this is possible or i'm total screw?
Currently I am sitting in front of a Windows 7 (Home) where the WinExplorer shows at the bottom an additional bar for each fodler/file.Its NOt the status bar but a second one.How do I disable/hide it permanently ?
I have a Canon Powershot. It has a 16GB SDHC card - which the reader on my Dell 2407FP does not recognize. No driver updates available either. Therefore, I plug the camera directly into a desktop USB port to view photos. Irfanview is my default image editor BUT when I click a pic in explorer the default is to Preview (not Open) and this function is automatically performed by (ugh) Photoviewer - which is possibly the worst slowest most cumbersome image prog ever foisted upon the public at large. This driving me over the edge! How can I disable /remove Photoviewer from my life?
In Windows Explorer, Detail View, is there a way to remove/disable the additional columns? (ie: Track, Artist, length, etc) I'm a simple person, and only want the main columns displayed, (Size, Type, Date) and Windows 7 seems to ignore me when i change the views. Even the "Reset All", and "Apply to All" seem to be ignored after a day later. In XP your could remove them from RegEdit under HKCRSystemFileAssociations and deleting the "Audio", "Video", and "Images" keys, and Explorer would 'forget' how to handle them, and details view would remain the same, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to respond to this either.
I like a clean notification area, and one thing that's always bothered me is the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon for my ReadyBoost flash drive. I don't understand why it doesn't ignore all ReadyBoost devices in the first place. Any fix for this that doesn't involve disabling the function altogether?
The hide/unhide arrows on my taskbar have disappeared and I can't figure out how to get them back. I went to properties and clicked on unhide inactive icons, but I still have the same 3 showing and none of my other ones.
I set the Taskbar tab (in Taskbar & Start menu Properties) to Auto-hide the Taskbar. When I select Apply, the taskbar dips and disappears for a second and then comes right back and stays there.
In Windows 7, Microsoft drastically improved the operating systems in-built support for themes. The operating system comes with several stunning themes which include high quality photographs that make great desktop backgrounds. You can also download more themes from the Microsoft theme gallery, or various places on the internet. With the help of this short video guide you'll be able to add and change basic themes to your hearts content.
I recently found a REALLY cool looking theme, and installed it. I was in love with it. After having that theme, I wanted a new start button to go with it. I found, and installed, a new start button. Then I installed a cool cursor. Finally, my wants didn't end. I wanted to get a new icon pack that looked good with the theme. I found a decent, and popular, one. I downloaded it. It came with an installer, so I used it. After installing, it asks me to "re-boot" my computer. I did it, and when I turned it back on my computer was messed up with some "shell32.dll" error. It took me a couple of hours to fix it. Many people recommended a system restore, or to use the "sfc /scannow" command. I did those two things, but they didn't work. I try to restore the system, but ALL my restore points were gone. I tried to do the "sfc /scannow" command, but apparently I didn't have permission. I'm the only user on this computer. How do I not have permission to do something? I ended up fixing it by doing some kind of system repair on start up. Although, now my computer is really slow, and I can't use custom themes for windows 7 anymore! I had a really cool one installed, but now when I turn it on, it just shows up as a dark version of the classic theme. I tried re-downloading, and re-installing it, twice. It still didn't work. It seems like ANY custom theme I get shows up as the theme that messed up my computer. I uninstalled that, but it seems like it's still here. Is there any way I can repair it, and get my custom themes back?
#1 How do I get custom 3rd party themes to work? I have already patched the theme dll files with UXtheme but when I go to enable a new third party theme nothing happens.#2 Nearly every single time I try to copy files from my HDD to a USB Flash Drive the file transfer exits midway and I have to restart it again and again till it finishes, mostly with a large group of files 2gb+. My USB Flash drives are not broken they are fine I tested them.#3 When I change my cursor to a custom one it resets to the default cursor on reboot.#4 When I installed Windows7 1 month ago I could not reach other computers on my LAN by IP or SharesShared Folders, and as of now they can nolonger reach me at all.#5 How do I Fully disable Readyboost? I thought I already did disabled it. When I insert a USB Flash Drive I see a file appear on it with the name "Readyboost" and some extension I can't remember.
I have downloaded themes, wallpapers and screensavers from [url]... but I don't understand how to get them to run and work. Here is the information I got when I clicked on the Download TSG SysInfo above, Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1

My Dell netbook with Windows 7 tells me that themes are not supported when I attempted to install the PC Advisor Windows 7 screenesavers. I really cannot see the advantages of 7 over Vista!!
I have ported all classic appearance themes what you have seen in Windows 98/2000/ME, such as Bricks Desert Eggplant Liac Maple Marine Plum Pumplkin Rainy day Red blue white Rose Slate Spruce Storm Teal Wheat I feel the nostalgie with them. Maybe you will like them too.
