I installed Windows 7 on my computer that was originally XP. Ever since then, I have 2 problems. First, my curser does whatever it wants, it jumps all over occasionally and highlights stuff so quickly while I am typing that when I press another key it is all lost. The second issue is that my mouse pad can no longer scroll.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using my computer yesterday, plugged in a usb and began to notice some strange things. Firstly, my computer began to lag really badly, so much that it took over 2 minutes just to open a word document. So then i decided to restart the computer. It did its normal thing but after the windows loading animation, instead of showing the log in screen, i see a black screen and cursor. I tried to find a solution; system restore, safe mode, taking out the usb , none of them seemed to work.
p.s ctrl+alt+delete does't work on the black screen p.p.s In safe mode, when it's loading drivers, it stops after having loaded "avgidseh", I don't think its this drivers problem but maybe the one after.
When user inputs credentials and hits enter it goes to windows log in screen but when it should go to desktop the user just gets a black screen with movable courser. This has happened to about 4-5 different pc's so far. My current fix is to backup their files on the network, delete their local user account and have them log in as if it was the first time again which creates a new profile and they can then log in with no problems. I saw a thread on this here already but it was about 2 years old and didnt give me any information on what is causing the problem.

I have a problem when I'm scrolling in a document (or similar, like this textbox I'm writing in now) - I can't scroll further down than where the curser is in the text. When I try, the screen just jumps back to the curser. If I scroll sideways, I control the position of the curser instead of the position of the screen. It's really annoying.I use the mousepad on the computer, and I haven't tried an external mouse.I've got a feeling that it might have something to do with scroll lock, but Asus didn't include a scroll lock button on the Zenbook (who uses that button anyways?)

View 8 Replies View RelatedA while ago my computer was acting weird. It would not let me go into this folder in the appdata thingy. So, I decided to restart. It took for ever to shut down, and booted back up and was working fine. That night, I went to turn off my computer but it was on the shutting down screen for about 2 hours, and sese its in my room, I could not sleep without it. So, it being 1 in the morning and me really wanting to go to bed I turned off the power strip.Today, I went to turn it on, and it went to the login screen. I logged on, and it went to a black screen with the curser. I waited there for a little bit but it still wouldn't work. The weird thing is that the screen saver came up. I have tried safe mode, and everything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBlack screen with curser in center. Without clicking the mouse, dragging the mouse draws a blue box. Acts like the left click button is stuck. Control/alt/delete-task manager has Skype program running and some times another program. If I end all tasks, computer begins operating normally. Tried system restore to an ealier date would not complete. That was probably from not disableing virus protection.

I bought an external HDD, and put all of my games and programs which I didn't want to get lost into the HDD. Then, I reinstalled Vista, so I had no data on my PC, but only on my external HDD.
After that, I installed Windows 7. Everything went well, until I had to boot my PC. It said it was loading windows (7), and than the screen turned black, and I haven't seen nothing exept of the mouse curser.
What could the problem be and how could I fix it?
I think the internet drivers are lost too. How can I reinstall them to have my web working?
I recently have a problem with my system. when I try to write a dvd it randomly freezes. sometimes it writes completely without error, and then the next time at the start of the sequence it locks up. the hdd activity led lihgts up, and the mouse is still responsive, but nothing seems to react anything. after some minutes the BSOD appears stating that a system crucial process had been unexpectedly quit or has been closed, and so on.. the same happens now if I try to update the dvd's firmware. it's an LG GH22NS40 writer with a grren power 550w psu and windows 7. previously i have nero 10 installed, but it's been deleted for now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 ultimate x64 Retail, I am getting random BSOD's after the brand new install and format, also I have used a program called Driver Genius 2011 to scan for any errors and so far none were found, I cant even decide what triggers the BSOD's. My PC specs are in my profile and have only had it since Christmas 2010, with the recent addition of a Radeon HD 6770 card in order to play SWTOR. I can't for the life of me figure out how it is still doing it after a clean install. Someone, anyone, please help. I've followed the posting instructions and have uploaded both requested files in a .zip file!

Sometimes it gives the BSOD screen, sometimes Explorer just goes missing and Task Manager would be unavailable. These days the BSODs come more often and with little warning.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 running on my Asus laptop. I decided to install Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows, as I will need it for work. It was installed via side-by-side and re-sized the partition
The installation of Ubuntu was flawless and works great, but now when I boot to Windows, its will randomly freeze, sometimes in 1 minute, sometimes within 10 minutes.
The only way I can solve this issue, is to either perform a disk scan from windows or restore the MBR.
The disk scan works, and Windows run fine, although If I boot Ubuntu again, run that for awhile, then boot windows again the problem returns.
Restoring the MBR works as well, though without a dualboot, its useless I have also tried EasyBCD and replaced GRUB with Windows boot manager, though same problems.
Just upgraded my system and did a clean install of windows 7. I noticed that after the computer is left on for a few hours it will restart randomly. When it restarts I get a message stating the following:

The hard drive is the main boot device, the dvd is the secondary.
I'm having an issue when typing text. It occurs when typing emails in Google and when typing in Word documents. It happens whether I'm connected to the Internet or not. As I type, the position of the cursor jumps positions, either to a previous point in the text (which results in text being inserted at this earlier point in the doc) or it jumps out of the text window compeltely (i.e. while typing an email or on Facebook). Does this sound like a familiar virus problem? what can I do?

I get to the login screen, enter my password, it then says welcome and fades out like usual. But insted of it going to my desktop it just goes blank for five to ten seconds with only the curser in the center of the screen spinning round as if it was loading somthing.I have had this problem for a few months now and have lived with it. I know it is just my user account because I tried making a new account and it works perfectly.

If I continue using it sometimes I get blue screen but always I have to restart at last. Second time I boot it's ok. I disabled all unnecessary services. I had got the same problem with Vista. I have recently done a fresh install and ever since then I'm getting random screen freezes (it never happened before fresh install)... the mouse, keys, ctrl alt delete etc.wont respond and the only way out is to hold down power and restart.I thought it could be a RAM problem but I have checked with memtest with no problems found. I have also scanned with malwarbytes antimalware with nothing found.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI keep getting BlueScreen errors and the pc is restarting after I switched motherboards from a gigabyte p55-usb3 to a biostar t5xe cfx-sli. I kept all the same components except I added another gtx 470. Thermal paste was freshly applied all around, all the idle and load temps seem normal. 30c/50c cpu and 40c/85c gpu.
1. Installed Win 7 Prof 64 bit on freshly formatted hard drive
2. Installed Drivers from motherboard cd (Biostar T5XE CFX-SLI)
3. Ran Windows update for awhile, restarted a few times, installed other programs
4. While browsing the net the pc shutdown and gave me a prompt upon startup with a "problem event name: bluescreen"
It also gave me the locations of a dump and a system file which I have included in the Shutdown #1 file.
1. After reviewing the error and searching the web I had read that it could be a possible heat issue, which didn't make sense as the first time I was just browsing the web. Idle the CPU is 30c and the GPU (SLI) is 40c for each card.
2. I downloaded the Unigine Heaven benchmark and ran it
3. PC shutdown in the middle of the benchmark and gave me different results in the post shutdown message. Files are in the Shutdown #2 file.
I used arctic silver on the cpu and on the gpu's. Everything is connected tightly and the only other thing installed is a wireless pci card which should have no problem. I used to use the exact same components on a gigabyte board (p55-usb3). The only reason I installed the Biostar Motherboard was to install another GTX 470 and run SLI.Everything seems normal as far as temps, the pc isn't slow, etc.I just decided to turn it off to avoid any possible damage and take the files I grabbed and post on a forum. This seemed like a good place to continue.
I recently had a virus on my computer and did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Now it seems that randomly my processes will stop responding, usually if I have a couple things running at once. I cant seem to burn a DVD because every time it will crash during it. Usually when it happens all the processes wont respong, task manager wont come up and a couple minutes later my system restarts. I have run a memtest and it turned up with no errors.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using computers since Win 3.0, but have recently built my own computer for the first time. Generally, everything works great right up until the point it doesn't.Sometimes my PC will randomly just "lock up". The screen freezes, the keyboard is completely unresponsive (including ctrl-alt-del), the mouse cursor is the spinning circle. The only way out is to hit the RESET button.It seems fairly random, and has happened while I was using iTunes, Outlook, or other programs.The one constant is that every time it happens, I can see that the HDD activity light is *solid*. It's not flickering / blinking like with normal HDD access, just solid. I don't know whether there is something truly being accessed, or whether the solid light is just a red herring.
Also, I don't know if the system is actually frozen, or whether there's something hogging the system to the extent it's so slow that it appears frozen. It's a pretty beefy system, so whatever it is would have to be really doing a number. I've only ever waited like 2 minutes before giving up.Given that every time it happens the HDD light goes solid, I have to suspect it's something with the hard drive subsystem, but I don't know how to begin troubleshooting whether it's a mobo SATA port issue, an Intel RST driver issue, a hard drive issue, a cable issue, or maybe it's not the hard drive at all!Here's some details (see more in my Systems Spec)Recently purchased DZ68BC mobo Prior to Windows 7 installed, verified mobo BIOS default was AHCI Installed Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Win 7 appears to use AHCI After installing Windows, ran Intel utility to update/install all drivers, including Rapid Storage Technology drivers (did *not* update mobo BIOS) I am NOT running any RAID.Again, everything seems to work really nicely, right up until the point it decides to instantly freeze It's hard to troubleshoot because it's so random, I don't know when to expect it, and after it happens I can't bring up any tools (i.e. Resource Manager) to see what's going on.
