Whenever i open a file with the open file dialog on anything like itunes, it crashes.I used clean boot and found that the applications only crash when Apple Mobile Device and Bonjour Service are enabled together. I tried uninstalling both and reinstalling itunes, but itunes needs these two programs to run
View 4 RepliesFor the past couple of months, I've noticed that dialog boxes (For Save as, Open, Error messages, ect) are not appearing. The window will go unfocused for a second but the dialog box never appears. This has only been happening with certain programs such as Microsoft Office, Steam, and Musenotes (Although there are many others too) while other programs such as notepad are working completely fine.All of the solutions I've found either have to do with AutoCad (Which I don't have) or the dialog box simply appearing off screen (None of the solutions work)
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever (about 50% of the time) I use a program that'll eventually pop up a SAVE/OPEN dialog box (file explorer?). This could be ADOBE, or IE8 when I want to save a picture, or anything that'll prompt me to open a file or save a file, whenever the file explorer comes up it'll start to lag, then hang and then not respond and I have to close and restart.
Is it a windows explorer or file explorer problem? It happens on several of the computers/laptops I have the RC installed on.
I'm not talking about PSD files here, just jpgs and other "regular" image formats. I have no problems with seeing thumbnails by default in any other software's File Open dialogs other than Photoshop (CS4 in my case). No matter what I have tried in Folder Options (yadda yadda) PS CS4 refuses to display thumbnails unless I manually choose "Icons" from the view menu once I am in the dialog. (Ideally I'd like it to automatically display Extra Large Icons.) This is driving me nuts as I work on jpg photos all day and every day. Sure I can use Bridge, but it is SO slow, or something else, but someone out there must have a fix? I can't see anything obvious in the Adobe areas of the registry and don't know enough about it to hack it myself.I realize you can use Libraries to get thumbnails, but that's about as many clicks (or more) than File>Open>View>Ex Large thumbnails every single time!!
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy computer lets me browse the network just fine and even sees everything there is to see. However, when I want to say, mount a DVD from a networked computer for example, the Network icon is nowhere to be found on the Open File or Folder dialog window.
Going back to the root level (from the path bar in the very same window) lets me see all the usual stuff: drives, homegroup and such but once again, no network.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find any solution to this and it seems like a very silly thing to remove from the OS.
I hope it's just me being blind and I really appreciate any information you guys can share on this subject.
(Using Windows 7 RC1 64-bit, in the same network with two Vista 64 computers.)
Recently I have run into a problem with W7. Every time the Open File dialog window opens, the window freezes, as does the program. It is becoming super annoying. I could live with it at first finding ways around it, but I have hit a roadblock in a few programs that require it. I have found several possible solutions but none have worked. No extra network drives attached or anything like that.
MSE is virus program running. I have tried disabling everything else using CCLeaner, but problem still persists. I could simply do a reformat but that is a PITA.
Okay, have managed to tweak *most* of what I dislike about Windows 7,diabled libraries and favorites, turned off stupid giant icons and got Explorer view back to the Details/ Date Descending that I've been using since Win3.1 days. Fixed taskbar, fixed the theme, got away from all the web styled view as link nonsense, but.I cannot get the Open/Save dialog that appears whenever you use, well, open or save in most any program, especially legacy or XP-based programs (for instance, Irfanview, VirtualDub,etc)to remain consistent folder to folder.Windows 7 seems to insist, rather lamely, that this be manually set with multitudinal clicking for each and every folder. Especially if differs from the default Explorer view (i.e. Details/Descending in Explorer, but want List/Descending in dialogs)Went thru a long process that involved customizing almost every folder I have to be "general items" instead of whatever the stupid folder contents discovery decided it would be, and then set general items to be viewed a certain way in dialogs via registry edits. But Windows 7 unilaterally decided to forget most of these changes after a short time.I also killed libraries entirely around then so that might've been it.Anyhow, is there anyway to have Windows7 actually respect global folder view settings? Yet, I'm able to expand 'My Documents' folder from windows explorer. Same is true for all the Libary folders under Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos. I can only expand the first folder level.

When my computer boots it says that all my startup 32 bit programs have crashed and I cant open anything unless it is 64 bit. Again I cant run virus software unless it is only 64 bit and I cant run sfc /scannow. It stops at 10%. want to do a system restore or factory reset both of which I dont think will fix this anyway and I dont have the windows 7 cd.

Since then i had no problems until last week when my game recording program WeGame began to crash when i start it up. Now today one of my favourite games Counter Strike : Source has started having the same problem.When starting Windows Live Messenger i am given the Windows Live Messenger has stopped working.. then it closes.When starting WeGame it usually crashes when i log in, with the same error.When i start Counter Strike : Source it says Hl2.exe has stopped working and needs to close.I have tried running as an administrator, in compatablility mode, restarting computer, reinstalling all 3 programs, using CCleaner and Windows Cleaner, closing other applications, disabling antivirus, scanning for viruses and many other things.

EDIT: Now it's doing it constantly, and after some time, mouse and keyboard wont respond.also, when the crash starts, it sounds like usb being plugged in.
example: Playing Diablo III while talking with friends on mumble. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.

What happens is, that I click the shortcut and nothing happens. I tried editing my exefile default to something else, but this doesn't work either. I thought to myself: Oh well, I'll just uninstall - but NO! I can't even uninstall the programs.
As of last night, my computer will no longer allow any programs to open. This includes IE and all other web browsers. There is no error message, the applications simply fail to open. The hourglass appears as if a program is starting, but then it vanishes and the program never opens.

All of the sudden on bootup there is a prolonged period where the screen is just dead. When it loads finally, it's very slow. I have Google chrome pinned to the taskbar and when I click on the icon, it pops up asking for approval if I want chrome to make changes to my hard drive. I also can't right click or type. (1) however, I still can't open any program. when I try to open, it always pop up the " open with" window. but I am able to use right mouse click and " run as adminstrator" - is that .exe running file I am missing? where can I download it?
(2) under the action center, notification and Icons - I still can see this virus name there - av.exe... but I can delete or do anything of it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday i went on my computer and i randomly had all sorts of issues. I ran malawarebytes and removed everything. When i restarted i could open for example firefox but after 5 minutes i could not open any other program, not just browsers. Once i click to open something it would show the loading circle for a couple of seconds and then nothing would happen. If i click refresh on my desktop the loading circle pops up and never goes away. My background gets like a shade of white over it and i cant even press my start menu. If i try to go to task manager the screen goes black and says "failure to display security and shut down options when ctl+alt+del was pressed.
