I have a program (Virtual DJ) which up until recently has worked fine, but now opens minimized on the task bar and will not maximize. Task manager shows program is running. PC is a laptop which is not set up for multiple display so window is definitely not open on wrong screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work in a school environment and have come across an intermittent, non-user specific and non-machine specific issue. Sometimes when people log on and start typing it will open up a piece of software, and always the same one and the same 'A' key on the keyboard. It is not a huge problem, you can minimise the program and it wont keep opening up, or you can log off and back on again to cure the problem. I am just curious if anyone has seen this before, or maybe has an idea how we can prevent this. I have search many forums for similar problems people have experienced.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI somehow choice my power2go program as the default program for all my programs. All my icons turned to power2go icon, I have done this before and in the past I would delete the program causing this (power2go) and the problem would be solved. I did this and nothing happened, the program was deleted but all my icons are now blank. When I go to open any other program I get the default box asking me to choose which program to use to open it. I mean for everything word, internet explorer, I mean everything. For example when I tried to open windows media player I get a box that says " The selected file has an extension (ink.) that is not recongnized by windows media player, but the player may still be able to play it. Because the extension is unknown by the player, you should be sure that the file comes from a trustworthy sourse. When I select yes I get windows media player cannot play the file the player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. When I try word I get the default box and when I select word it opens still how do I get the defaults restored. Some programs don't do anything they just time out. I did a system restore and nothing how do I restore my defaults for all my programs. Is there a way to make sure this never ever happens again. The box that say always use this program to open this type of file is not checked which it usually is I am afraid to check it for each individual program fearing I might make things worse. Is there anything I can do?

I've had my Windows 7 PC for a year and a half now, and the entire time I've had it I've had Firefox pinned to the taskbar, and when I click on the icon, the program opens AND the icon stays there on the taskbar. It has been like this since I've had the computer. This is how I want it.
I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but today I updated Firefox to version 14, and now when I click the pinned taskbar icon, the program opens and the taskbar icon for Firefox disappears. I know you can set up a quicklaunch workaround (I've done that, but I'm just not satisfied), I know you can click this and that to get a new window to open, but all I want is my computer back the way it has been for the last 18 months.
I can get the functionality that I had back. I've read in certain threads that Windows 7 is designed for them to disappear when opened. It was never this way on my PC and I just want my setup back how I had it. I tried rolling back to FF 13 to no avail.
does anyone know how i can get 7 to open winamp instead of the windows media player when i press the media button on my keyboard? somehow i didnt have this problem on xp.

I understand that this is a feature of Windows 7, but my girlfriend finds it rather annoying. Is there any way to stop this behavior? By the way, I am using the "Never Combine" option for my taskbar.
For example, the first icon pinned in the taskbar is Mozilla Firefox. When I open Firefox, the icon disappears, and only the other pinned icons remain. I would like to change this behavior so that the icon, once pinned, will remain, even if I open the program associated with it.
i have a problem getting my new web page to maximize, it won't allow to drag it bigger, the corners don't work either and there is only an x in the upper right corner, no minimize or maximize button, i use windows 7, also my computer seems to be slow and take awhile when i try to watch Internet videos or even the welcome tutorial on this site

i installed win7 64bit (home) on my pc less than a month ago and have had trouble with streaming videos ever since. whenever i maximize a Internet or any other streaming video, it will freeze, minimizing the video fixes the problem (video itself never stops, i can hear the audio working the entire time), the freeze never happens when minimized.
i run an ahtlon ii 250, geforce 250gts (latest nvidia drivers) on a gigabyte 785 board.

How can I get the system to automatically open all windows maximized like my old system with XP? I tried changing the properties of the program shortcuts but it doesn't make any difference whether I set it to Normal, Maximize or Minimize. I am using RDC version 6.1.7600.16385 on both my laptop and my remote PC but after I connect to my remote PC using RDC and I minimize the RDC screen on my laptop, after maybe 10 minutes, it disconnects. If I maximize the RDC screen, it will reconnect after 30 seconds or so but what setting do I tweak to stop this disconnection altogether or at least lengthen the time before it disconnects to 30 minutes?

I am having an issue with Battlefield 3, Counter Strike Source and other games minimizing within 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay. The game is still running but I can not maximize it. Pages that I minimize disappear from the taskbar when I go to another webpage.
If I minimize a folder or firefox window etc I cannot bring it back. If I mouse over the tab at the bottom the preview flashes up for a second then goes and any clicking or alt tabbing will not restore it.
the two most prominent being an issue with the 2 monitor setting bringing the window up on a non existent screen and a program on the startup boot list causing the problem. I have eliminated both these possibilities and a few others and the problem still persists. As a workaround I can still access the windows through task manager > applications and switch to/bring to the front but this is very awkward and I need a fix not a work around.
I performed a system recovery very recently on my HP Pavilion (Running Windows 7 OS). I re-installed Chrome as my default browser and my other programs. Lately, whenever I open my browser or any of my other programs, every page starts minimized and I have to use the maximize button to get a normal view. This was not the case previously and I do not know what has been changed in the system. Frequently, I use AVG PC Tuneup to clean up junk files, clean the registry, and defragment the disks. Is there a setting that is perhaps being erased by all the cleaning?

Now for the problem...
I have been using Windows 7 64-bit without a single problem on this machine since Windows 7 was released. Ever since then I have had no problems doing, well really anything until about 2 weeks ago. I usually play video games on my main screen whilst watching movies/streaming tv on the 2nd screen. The stuttering is constant when watching streaming videos in full screen mode, even when doing absolutely nothing else on my computer. If the video is not in full screen mode it plays fine. If I pop the streaming video out of the browser and F11 it to make it full screen that way it does not stutter at all this way either. I do not believe it to be a bandwidth/internet connection issue though as I also encounter problems when watching movies from my hard drive. The movies from hard drive issue is not exactly the same though. When watching a movie from my hard drive and playing a game the audio and video will skip about half a second every 4-5 seconds instead of a constant stutter. However if I am not playing a game or doing anything else on my computer the videos will play fine. I have updated my video card drivers and the audio drivers as well as bios on my computer but am still having the same issue.
