Aug 25, 2011I actually don't have a problem with drivers, but in how windows detects hardware and finds appropiate drivers. Because sometimes I have many computers at a time to fix, I wondered if there was a way in which windows 7 can be forced to update every installed driver in the system at once, this because when windows 7 is installed, it installs outdated (but working) drivers for some devices. Generally, I don't install drivers by double clicking them, but rather by extracting them (exe's) and then making windows find them, I do this because doing so, prevents most of the time, the installation of unwanted applications.Now, I know I can update each driver individually using the device manager, but this could take very long depending on the machine. I would like windows (on a clean installation), to uninstall ALL of the drivers, including chipset, video, audio, etc, and then look for them in a specific folder, say C:ew_drivers (where all new extracted drivers are).

Feb 18, 2012My ASUS Notebook was running fine when I went to bed the other night and Windows 7 did an auto update. I logged on the next morning and all the USB, Network Adapter, and Sound drivers were dead. I checked, and it appears that a few of the components of the Windows update did not complete successfully (.Net framework, Silverlight, etc.), so I assume this has something to do with it. I assumed it would be no big deal to fix the drivers, but boy was I wrong. Here's what I've tried (and failed) to fix this.

1) Change Flat Panel Scaling does not work correctly in display , if i click anything other than ( use my displays built in panel scaling ) it defaults back to it. Select Nvidia scaling and it goes back to default ^. This works fine with 185.20 -> 181.20 -> ****
2) Adjust Video Colour settings does nothing with media player classic even when selected to ( with the nvidia settings ). This works fine with all other latest beta nvidia drivers -
3) Doom 3 Flickers BADLY with any official/beta nvidia driver in use ( 185.20 e.t.c ) , this is not fixed by any form of Config editing or control panel changing. Unable To Update Or Load Any Drivers In Windows 7
Jul 3, 2011I am running windows 7 home edition. A couple months ago I got the bad image date virus that disable my google chrome and my epson workforce printer, I had found it disable my print spooler, I got rid the the virus, but it did more damage, I uninstalled the printer drivers and went through the windows services and set them all to automatic, but I cannot reinstall the driver.
Then I saw my graphics and sound drivers are out dated but I cannot update them either, it just times out when I try to update them. I noticed when I try to update other programs, they hang up on the system restore point, so I tried to create a new one. I get the shadow volume cannot be created message, I set the shadow volume services to automatic, and went through all the dependency's but I still can't create a restore point, I am guessing the problems are related

Sep 8, 2012I just went from XP to a new Dell Windows 7. I have a multi-function printer that used CD drivers on XP, but with Windows 7, I had to install the printer with Windows Update and a scan utility from the manufacturer's web site. All of a sudden after a month, I can't scan, so I want to uninstall/reinstall the printer. How do I do this when it was installed with Windows Update? I see a list of drivers in the DriverStore/FileRepository folder. Do I delete those so Windows Update can reinstall them, or were they already there when I bought the computer?

Jun 17, 2011I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64. I have Microsoft Office 2007 installed and I want Outlook to startup when I startup Windows. I only have the one User account in Windows, so I initially put a shortcut of the outlook.exe in the user startup folder. But to no avail, it didn't startup. So I then cut and pasted this shortcut to the All users startup folder. This worked and it starts up when windows does. The problem is it starts up twice. I then opened msconfig to lookup startup programs. There are 2 instances of the Outlook listed but when I disable one it disables both and nothing starts up. I then re-enable it and it starts up twice again.

Sep 9, 2012I have a Crucial M4 SSD that I'm running windows on and another hard drive I store other files and programs on, lately I've been having problems with windows crashing and upon restarting, my computer will automatically attempt to boot from the other hard drive unless I physically unplug it and the M4 is the only drive plugged in (when I select boot priority in BIOS the SSD is not a listed option to boot to.) Then if I do unplug the other HD and start windows from the SSD, I'm having problems with windows crashing, a couple times I got a blue screen that stated windows crashed and it shut down to save data. I'm not sure if this SSD is taking a dump on me or if I have a problem with windows?

Aug 27, 2012Randomly, my computer is no longer able to boot from my OCZ Agility 3 SSD. By randomly, I mean it was working just fine this morning, but no longer. I can't remember if I changed or updated anything.
Well I then went and inserted the Windows 7 repair disk. A list pops up saying to select my OS, but nothing is listed. I selected load drivers, and I'm able to navigate to the ssd successfully and view all of the files. I even plugged it in to the computer I am using now and was able to back up the more important documents in case I will need to do a reinstall. (I would rather not though).The repair utility doesn't fix the problem, and I navigated this forum and many others trying to find similar problems to mine.

I do have two other hard drives on the system that I use for general programs and another for raw video storage.They are disconnected now, so I don't see how they would affect the problem.

Feb 22, 2009Well, I was messing around and thought I would test out the Vista beta 182.06 drivers vs. the drivers you get through Windows Update. All I did was run a demo in Team Fortress 2 in with both drivers. Also my gfx card is a 7800gt, so this might not apply to newer cards.
Of course take this with a grain of salt, especially for newer systems, but if you have an older pc, and are running with the 182.06 or maybe Vista drivers in general, try using the Windows Update drivers again. I know which one's I will be using from now on.

I read in many places in Internet about drivers updates and they all say I shouldn't update my driver from the CD provided from the manufacturer but from Internet and install them in a USB flash drive. So that's what I did, I installed my BIOS current driver and other MOBO drivers in my USB flash drive. However, I don't know now how to update my drivers without the CD's. I would like some help on how to update all my drivers (my PC is completly new) using a USB flash drive.
