When I had xp pro I was very happy with Outlook Express, it was simple and not complicated and it worked. What would be the compatible e-mail client for W7...I do not want to change my e-mail address I want to stay the same. I do not want my email on the web.

I understand that the 64bit Internet Explorer cannot be set as the default browser.I have downloaded windows live mail however I cannot set this as my default e-mail client. I installed Win 7 yesterday and at first I could send and receive.
Have installed W7 on a new computer - horror struck to find it didn't include an email client. I know I can use lots of other clients but I want to keep my email address, my folders full of emails, my contacts, and my sanity. Do I have to switch on my XP machine every time I want to get my emails???

However when I try to send e-mail through my Verizon with msn mail account, an error message appears stating "email client not properly installed". I want to do that in Windows 7 also but I can't find where to do it. In the "Set default programs" part of the Control Panel it only gives me one choice: "Use my current email program". I am looking to buy a Western Digital "Elements" 2TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive from Amazon.The place I want to sit the EHD will not reach my laptop with the provided USB cable, I will need a few more feet. This EHD comes with external power, but I'm not exactly sure if a regular USB extension will do the job 'safely'. I've been reading something about a "USB repeater", but I have no idea what that is or where I should find one.Also, is it a good idea to buy an EHD online? They are a little fragile while powered.. but while off, they should be safe no matter what happens to the package, right?

To start, use the Snipping Tool or whatever screenshot program you prefer and save it as a .jpeg/jpg/jpe.
When you are ready to include a screen shot in your thread/post, click on the paperclip in the reply box, where it will go to the Manage Attachments page.
From there, click on the browse button to open up the File Upload window.
Insert you image and click on The Upload button to the right.
You can also upload the file from a url.
Now, close the Attachment window at the top right.
You can now reclick on your paperclip..
and pick the file to insert into your post.

When I right click on the file, and click send to email recipient, i get an error telling me no email program is associated to perform this action.I don't have any stand alone email program s installed. I strictly use web based email (gmail & hotmail) as my mail programs. I do not wish to install a stand alone program such as outlook or Thunderbird. How can I associate my request to email to a recipient to automatically go to my web based email platform (gmail or hotmail) and send the mail?I cant seem to find a hack or a small program to install to tell Windows 7 to use my web based email as my program!

In XP and using Opera browser, if I clicked on an web page's email link, my email client (Sylpheed) would open with the address inserted. With Win 7 and the email defaults set, it won't. Instead, it always returns an "Internal communication error" page (example link: Contact Us | PCWorld). Below are screenshots of my Win 7 email defaults and Opera preferences setting. One thing I'm not sure about, if it's at all relevant, is where Opera is picking up the default application from. In XP, it picked up Opera email as the default. The Other Application file location shown is exactly the same in both, except for the drive letter.

Activesync works perfectly on my phone so that portion of the network is open at my work. I have been doing some reaserch and in order to get Outlook to sync with Exchange Server without VPN, RPC over HTTP or Outlook Anywhere must be enabled on the network. I know for a fact that our IT department have that portion disabled.

So I know that his Windows Live is set up correctly.His wife's email is working fine directly through Road Runner as she can send and receive emails.SO...
