I've changed the location of my Chrome user profile folder, and created a shortcut which has �user-data-dir=�d: ew chrome user directory location" appended to its target. But when Chrome is opened any other way than via this shortcut, for instance when launching a web page file saved to my computer, Windows opens Chrome with the old profile. How can that be fixed?

Right now I'm working with Internet explorer. Firefox and Chrome don't open any websites. I changed the internet settings in control panel but it didn't help. Some people tell it's about antivirus programs. I am using NOD32 antivirus?

Its really weird because my laptop says it is connected to the internet through my wireless router. It loads for a while and then says "This webpage is not available." Im thinking maybe a virus has switched some settings, beacuse I ran Mal Ware bytes and something came up that I deleted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm one of those who just doesn't care for nearly any system sound, no matter how engineered or cool-sounding, and I really hate it that every time I change my desktop, my sound profile is changed back to a Microsoft default. I have my personal, minimalistic, profile saved, so I can pick it fairly easily, but having to take the extra step each time is a real step backwards for me functionally.
Are there any registry edits I could do make my own sound profile sticky?
When I had xp pro I was very happy with Outlook Express, it was simple and not complicated and it worked. What would be the compatible e-mail client for W7...I do not want to change my e-mail address I want to stay the same. I do not want my email on the web.

I am looking to buy a Western Digital "Elements" 2TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive from Amazon.The place I want to sit the EHD will not reach my laptop with the provided USB cable, I will need a few more feet. This EHD comes with external power, but I'm not exactly sure if a regular USB extension will do the job 'safely'. I've been reading something about a "USB repeater", but I have no idea what that is or where I should find one.Also, is it a good idea to buy an EHD online? They are a little fragile while powered.. but while off, they should be safe no matter what happens to the package, right?

To start, use the Snipping Tool or whatever screenshot program you prefer and save it as a .jpeg/jpg/jpe.
When you are ready to include a screen shot in your thread/post, click on the paperclip in the reply box, where it will go to the Manage Attachments page.
From there, click on the browse button to open up the File Upload window.
Insert you image and click on The Upload button to the right.
You can also upload the file from a url.
Now, close the Attachment window at the top right.
You can now reclick on your paperclip..
and pick the file to insert into your post.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOriginally I had all my data files in drive D and only programs in drive C. Somehow my old user profile got corrupted and the Backgound wall paper is not working properly. So I created a new admin profile to fix it but now I have a mess.After I created a new admin profile and moved the old users folder/files to the new user , I decided to delete the old profile after everything seems to be working properly . When deleting the old profile I elected to save old user files to my desktop ( fortunately) . I now have a very fragmented system . Some of the folder/files are still under my old username in D drive, nothing in my new user name in D drive plus almost all of the folder/files from the old user ( in drive D) are now in a folder on the desktop where windows elected to place them when I elected to save the folders/files. I really need all the old user folders.I would like to have the Data in either under my old or new username in Drive D instead of fragmented all over the place. I realize I ended up in this situation because I didnt understand fully what windows will do when creating and deleting user profiles.

i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.
My wife's Dell desktop (after a nighttime thunderstorm) will not permit her to log on. When she enters the password she gets the following message: "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a user fix, or should we take the computer back to where it was bought for service?

Previous threads have been closed, but not because any solution was found.It's possible there may be more than one cause for the same or similar error.I've had this problem now for the last 6 months at least. Every single time I use Chrome.. it's the same thing. My system freezes and I have to wait for the dialog to pop up with Chrome.exe and please insert a disk in blah blah blah.. When the dialog pops up right away I can just click try again and it goes away, but other times the dialog doesn't pop up for a minute or longer.Incredibly frustrating. It makes me want to chuck my computer out the window, even though it's an awesome computer.

She sat down to use her computer and tried to open IE (IE9). When she clicked on it, a window popped up that says "Internet explorer has stopped working". What's more troublesome is that NONE of the browsers on her PC worked (FF, Chrome, IE). They all give similar error messages and refuse to start.A friend of mine tried all of the following with no luck (the PC rebooted after each of these tasks):
Removed Chrome and FF. No change.
ran Avast

The kicker is that after all of this, I decided to install Opera and Safari and they work!! But the other three browsers still won't work!Also, if I boot into Safe Mode, all browsers work (IE, FF, Chrome). No changes were made to her computer prior to this happening. I really want to avoid re-installing Windows 7.
Installed Chrome 16.0912.63, and am happy with it except for one thing, would like to customize the toolbar so the forward/back arrows, refresh, home, etc. icons are on the right side of the screen. There seems to be very few toolbar options, or my searching is really really flawed
