View 4 Repliesi was given a very nice computer recently and to be honest, i'm kind of nitpicking, but this is irritating me nonetheless. specs are as follows:Mobo: Asus L1N64-SLI WSProcessors : (2) AMD Athlon 64 FX 72's running at 2800 MHzRAM: (3) 2GB of PC...something-or-other speed lol sorry cant rememberVideo: (2) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS'sOS: Win7 Pro 64-biti got it with no HDDs so i formatted 2 drives i had and did a fresh install of 7. that was... less than a week ago. anyway, here's the thing: there is a constant usage of 25% of the processors at all times by the 'System' process. and whats even more confusing is that most of the time processor 1, core 2 is the only core doing it. just pegged at 100% while every other core is more or less idle... BUT some of the time it's evenly divided up between all 4 cores.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently noticed while playing games my FPS was lower than normal. I checked my processes list and found this 'System Interrupts' process was hogging anywhere between 0 and 25% of my processor.I've tried all the usual stuff suggested by people including cleaning the registry, reinstalling drivers, even a windows restore to a few days before.

I dropped it from the system and left my other 300gb HDD in and installed it to the HDD no worries, boots up fine and can use win 7. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in China and bought a new laptop, it's a Lenovo and it came with a Chinese operating system. To get an English operating system, I downloaded a copy of Windows 7 Professional. Once I installed Windows 7 Professional, I realized that the student key I got from my school was for Windows 7 Ultimate and wouldn't work with the Professional version.
Then I download a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and burned it to a disk. When I went to install this, it wouldn't let me put it on any of my partitions (the laptop has 4) so I formatted the secondary one with like 860GB of space but then I thought that I would never need the Chinese operating system again so I formatted the Primary partition as well. However, after formatting them, it won't let me install my hard drive to any of the partitions and it tells me "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. One EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks".
Now I can't start my computer because the operating systems are gone and I can't install my operating system. I have no idea what to do.
i currently hav windows xp pro 32 bit and i have decided to go for windows 7 ... But should i go for 32 or 64 bit windows 7? i really wanna go for 64 bit since it supports more RAM but the problem is i am running 32 bit processor.

View 7 Replies View RelatedTom’s Hardware readers know all about overclocking, of course. In fact, many processor and graphics card reviews would be deemed incomplete without coverage of overclocking potential. Indeed, articles such as the System Builder Marathon series have a long history of specifically valuing performance achieved through overclocking rather than just through stock performance.
If you already consider yourself an enthusiast, pardon a bit of background here--we'll get into the nitty-gritty technical stuff in just a second.
What exactly is overclocking? In a nutshell, the term is used to describe running a component at a higher speed than its specification in an attempt to increase performance. Various computer components can be overclocked, including the processor, memory, and graphics card. And the degree of overclocking can include anything from simply procuring small gains from an inexpensive component all the way to seeking a level of performance way beyond what could even be purchased at that point in time.

I was unaware that hard drives from another chip set install probably wont boot into windows. So I foolishly I attempted to boot into windows right after I assembled the new i5 computer with a old hard drive from a Q9550 system. Neither did my other hard drives ( another Western Digital & Seagate). I once read that someone used an XP disc to create the system partition for a Vista or 7 install. The reason being that the Vista/7 system partitions are larger than the ones XP creates.
Anyone know of this technique and if it is safe? By safe I mean 7 would run stable and reliably from a smaller system partition.
Or are there other techniques (maybe a disk partitioner) that would do the trick. I hate to see so much space "seemingly" wasted.
