PC Won't Go Past The Mother Board Screen And Cant Get Into The Bios
Oct 24, 2012
i am having an issue with getting to my desktop. i turn on my pc and it just shows me the mother board screen. it will go black...then show it to me again....then rinse and repeat.ive tried to go into the bios, and no luck...i cant get into any of the options not even recovery. i made sure my hard drive was secure etc etc. and i can hear it running.
Entered as usual Asus site to search for another publication..Down version of the Bios of the Mother Board. The problem is that the very large size have to update the bios does not explicitly understand what is wrong with this?Is it a mistake from the company?
I have a Compaq Presario CQ5210f with a M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard and I also have a old Compaq Presario SR1010NX with a MS-6577 (Giovani, Giovani2) mother board and it seems like the second mother board is better than the first. I would like to know which one is better because I have both computer towers but only use the CQ5210f.I am planning on putting in a new graphics card soon and I cant afford a whole new computer or motherboard right now so I have to pick between these to.

When I go to boot windows, after my motherboard splash screen I get a black screen that says Grub Error 17 and am unable to boot windows. I thought this was kind of weird since I don't use Linux, but I ran SuperGrub Disk to see if it could find any problems. SGDisk gave me this "BOOTMGR is missing". So I tried following this . After pressing any key to confirm booting from a CD I once again got the Grub Error 17 and was unable to boot from the CD.
I have everything backed up, but I don't know what happened to my Windows 7 CD key and any keyfinder programs that I know of require you to run windows.
if anyone knows a way to fix my MBR only being able to boot a minimal amount of CD's, or if anyone knows how to find my Product Key without actually being able to boot windows, I would greatly appreciate the help. I have been able to boot into Ubuntu, and can access all the files on my hard drive if that makes any difference.
Replacing motherboard and CPU plus RAM will current Hard drive Win 7 64 bit boot the system? Two knowledgeable person said yes no problem using the now current C: with its operating system. One person ( computer store) said no as the BIOS chip will be different. I need to change motherboard and CPU (AMD 2.6 GHZ), also RAM to something faster because of a Birthday present.
I cant install windows 7 on my ASUS P5NSLI, I have seen post where users were able to install the O.S..... but every time I install the software I get an unresponsive screen.... when the O.S is being installed?
having problems with my PC rebooting since restarting to finish the installation of the latest Windows Update. Loads only to the Dell BIOS screen and then reboots again. I can hit F2 or F12, but not sure what to do when I do. I thought that running in Safe Mode and uninstalling the last update would be the way to go, but not sure how to get into Safe Mode.
Can't get past the BIOS, just removed a lot of virusus my children think are funny, did a reboot blue screen, been trying to trick BIOS. Any idea. I7 extreme, thermal take watwrcooled, blue ray. Burner, 12 1333 on my board. After spending !3 hours removing and researching I thought I was done. O rebooted, just get stuck at blue a screen with no logg in option. I have some very expensive math and physics programs.
In the chaos of moving to a new house yesterday, a box my friend was moving ripped and a bottle of beer smashed onto my open and powered on laptop, scattering both liquid and glass everywhere. We immediately powered down and removed the battery, and placed the laptop upside down and mopped up the excess liquid from the outside as much as possible, and set it to dry upside down on a towel. My laptop is a Lenovo U330, I had my brother install Windows 7 on it for me last year, but he kept the disks so I don't have any of them.Several hours & some blowdrying later, we attempted to start up the laptop (I would have preferred to wait longer, but I needed to know if mine would work in case I needed to borrow my friend's for the week). The laptop will load the lenovo startup screen, and then flash the windows loadings screen (with the option to press f2 or f12) for a few seconds before recommending that I run startup repair. Which if I select it, will freeze after a few seconds. Usually my laptop's pretty noisy, but while the battery light flashes as if there is activity going on, there's no noise coming from it at all.
My wife's laptop broke down a few months ago, and we wanted to get some files off of the hard drive. I grabbed an extra eSATA cable and connected it to an extra port on my desktop motherboard... without remembering to connect it to the power supply. Anyway, when I booted up the machine, I was unable to get past the BIOS, getting an error message "Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present". Even after shutting down and removing the hard drive, I'm still getting this error message. We've tried a number of different keyboards and it's coming up the same every time.
I'm trying to fix a vaio laptop at the moment and am a bit stuck. The screen doesn't go past the vaio. It just before the windows logo would normally appear. I tried using the windows 7 cd to try a repair or cmd/chkdsk etc, but the OS wasn't found/listed. I also tried to do a clean install and the HD wasn't detected by windows 7 setup. I also tried booting up with ubuntu and the HD still wasn't detected. Can I assume this is a busted HD? Should I still shoot for a bootage diagnostic cd for the hard drive?
I've been going on through this forum the past two days trying to figure out why my computer stays stuck on the welcome screen once I type in my password. I've done everything that has been in my power to do, from Disabling and uninstalling my nVidia graphics card driver to running a diagnostic with Avast! but nothing seems to work.I don't have a Windows 7 CD to repair the computer because I got a college student discount and downloaded it online. I also can SOMETIMES get into Safe Mode (when it happens is random, sometimes I get a black screen with my cursor present), but Safe mode with Networking has the same problem of not getting past that welcome screen.
My computer isn't frozen, as the mouse and the spinning circle are active. I'm not entirely sure what to do. The last time I used my computer was the morning of two days ago to watch stuff on Hulu with Firefox and play music with iTunes. I've had Windows 7 installed for maybe 3ish months now and have never encountered this problem.Note: I've also had that problem with iTunes and the Logitech G15 Keyboard where iTunes keeps forcing itself to the top, if that matters- - - - - Specs ModelASUS M50Vm-A1 Operating SystemWindows Vista Home emiumCPU TypeIntel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26G Memory Size4GB DDR2Hard Disk160GB SATA 5400RPM Optical DriveDVD Super MultiGraphics CardNVIDIA GeForce 9600M GSVideo Memory1024MB

Yesterday I was playing, surfin on my PC. Now when i tried to start windows it would not come pass the loading screen to my desktop. It will just restart the PC over and over again. I have tried to repair windows with my install CD but it cannot repair the problem. I have checked my boot device priority and it is in place. no strange configts or anything.
I am having issues with my computer. I turned it on and logged in, and then the screen stays on welcome for a long time if not forever. I have tried to wait it out a few times and after 15-20mins it just turns black with a white mouse I can move around.
I have a Dell notebook and am not computer savy at all. I posted on another forum and was wondering what you guys think. They were very nice but it has been days now and I am lost on how to do this next step. Getting a second opinion, hope I don't offend them....

You might have to scroll to read the entire thing, it is about two pages..
So one day I shut down my laptop (Sony Vaio, E series, VPCEB15FG, Windows 7 home premium 64-bit). The following day when I tried to turn it back on it refused to go beyond the welcome screen.. And it just kept restarting. So I started it in safe mode with networking and that seems to be working fine..
yesterday I found my computer wouldn't let me log in. I left it thinking that the computer would work after a few hours. anyway, next day came and i turned on my computer. After waiting for it to start, it went to the log in page. I couldn't type my password into the login page. But the blinking thing, (where you can type) id blinkying...however I can't even move my mouse cursor. Like its literally frozen. I restarted the computer, then pressed F8 continually. There came a series of options so that I could possibly get my compute to start working again.
- repair your computer Then a 'system recovery option' window opens up. There's 'system repair' <I did this, and it said that there was no problems> 'System restore', 'windows complete PC restore', 'windows memory diagnostic tool', 'command prompt', and TOSHIBA recovery wizard'. Yes it's a Toshiba laptop.
- safe mode
- safe mode with networking
- safe mode with command prompt
- enable boot logging
- enable low resolution video
- last known good configuration
- directory services restore mode
- debugging mode
- disable automatic restart on system failure
- disable driver signature enforcement
- start windows normally
I've done safe mode, last known good configuration and start windows normally.
