Computer Restarts When Trying To Boot From A Cd?
Jan 24, 2011im trying to format my computer but the moment i insert the cd in the drive and set in the bios to boot from then the computer restarts and hangs this only happens when their is a cd inside but if i take out the cd then the computer works properly although still having the setting to boot from the cd drive but the moment you put a cd inside to boot then the pc restarts and hangs?

Dec 26, 2012After taking my hard drive and placing it from my good rig into my bad rig, my bad rig won't boot off of the hard drive, at first it was giving me bsod 0x0000007b, but now it won't even BSOD, it just restarts, tries to boot, does the animated logo for about two seconds, and then switches to Windows is now loading files, and then goes to restarting but then pulls up the startup repair / boot normal screen, now of course both of these do the same thing and just keep me in an endless restart loop

Jan 27, 2013I use Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, with Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 and 8192 Ram on an ASUSP5w DH Deluxe MB. No overclocking. Yesterday, I logged on to MS to check out Win8 and allowed it to check my system for upgrade. I received report that some programs were not compatible and that "NX" was not activated. I decided to check some of the incompatible programs out and read up on "NX".
So I closed all my programs out and rebooted and checked out my setup. I found no reference to "NX", but I did enable the MB to manage my fans, which I have not done in the past. Then, F10 and automatic reboot. It went through the rebooting, recognized the ram, but when it came to the point that Win 7 would begin, it powers down shuts off, with out the Windows screen opening.
I went back into setup and disable the the option about the MB operating the fans, rebooted and it shuts down again. I start the power and boot up and checked the setup and all looks like it usually does. I tried f8 at difference times, but the computer will not continue past the last post of recognizing all my ram.
I went inside the computer and checked the connections on the boot drive and just about everything else. The fans start up, power light is on on the board. The temperatures, as measured in the set up are well within normal range. None of the components seem hot. I let it set overnight and it still shuts off after the screen about the RAM and before starting Win 7.

Sep 14, 2012I recently reinstalled windows and now when I leave my computer for about 15mins it will restart itself and then on restart I get the following message:Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series V2.39 (01/24/11) PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable.PXE-E53: No boot filename received.I tried reinstalling windows again. Updating drivers, specifically the realtek ones.Also when I used my HDMI cable to connect to my TV as a second monitor it works for about 45mins then bluescreens.These all worked properly prior to reinstall.

Feb 19, 2012Basically the issue is that my computer won't boot. I have had it for just over a year and have never had any issues with it. It's protected and isn't used for anything dodgy, my brother uses it for SWTOR and I use it mostly for uni work and a bit of gaming here and there. Anyway out of nowhere it failed to start. Its done this once before and last time I just told it start Windows normally and everything was fine. This time not so much.
It loads up Startup Repair even if I select start Windows normally as it fails to do so and restarts itself automatically. I left it to detect errors but when I checked it a few hours later it still said searching so I cancelled and left it. I tried again yesterday and have left it on for approximately 25 hours to no avail, it still says searching! I have a lot of stuff I haven't backed up so I want to save it. Also note that there are no pieces of hardware plugged into the machine at all, only the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

PC Starts To Boot Then Shuts Down?
Jun 15, 2012I have an eMachines T5254 that has Windows 7 Home Premium on it, upgraded from Vista.
We recently located our home computers, modem and router to another room. I reconnected everything with the same cables, and it came on fine. After an automatic Systems Update it did not come back on, and now when I try to boot from either the Boot Manager or Advanced Boot Screen, at every option it loads files and then, before or during the time when the lights and logo start to appear, it turns off. I do not have the recovery disk, and in any case my DVD-RW has not worked for about a year.
I have a new DVD-RW which I am going to install, but I am uncertain if that will solve the problem. Is there any way to get to a Command prompt without Windows booting up, and at least access the hard drive that way, or am I up the well known tributary with inadequate means of propulsion?

Install Restarts After First Boot
Mar 23, 2009I am trying to install Windows 7 Build 7000 on my computer. But it does not seem to want to continue install after the first restart.
Here is what I did:
I put in the dvd, and boot my computer from the DVD. I set the DVD to be the only boot device in the BIOS. The installer starts. I go through all the steps needed for install. It comes to the first restart, and the computer restarts. After a lot of waiting, the computer brings up the first step to the install. Where it shows the "Install Now" Button. (The install basically starts from step One again).
Not sure what I did wrong through all this. My computer Specs are AMD 6400 2.20Ghz, 2 Gigs of Ram, Clean 40 Gig IDE Hard drive, on Different IDE channel then the DVD Drive (Not sure if that is important). Linksys Wireless Add in Card, BFG Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT.
So if someone could help me get Windows 7 up and running, that would be great!
I forgot to say that I tried to install Windows 7 off a virtual drive from within XP, but that didnt seem to work after the first restart also. It did put the windows boot loader on my computer, but didnt finish the Windows 7 Install. I have a feeling that it tried to over-right my Windows XP install, because the boot loader only comes up when my XP drive is plugged in. When I tried installing 7 with the CD, I had my XP drive unplugged. So if 7 tried to install on my XP drive, how can I get the files off it, that I dont want on it anymore, and install Windows 7 on my other drive, in a XP and 7 Duel-boot.
Computer Restarts On Its Own Every Now And Then
Apr 30, 2012Every now and then my computer shuts down then restarts on its own. I notice that any usernames and passwords that I have set to remember are reset. I get this error in my event viewer I don't know if its related :

Mar 6, 2012I have 2 computers here. One is a E-Machines, and the other is a custom built. Both units as soon as you power them on, they go thru the boot up process, but anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds later, the unit turns off. I've tried swapping the ram and the power supply. I have disconnected the keyboard, monitor, mouse and speakers with no change. Both of them developed this problem over night. They do not stay booted up long enough to get into the setup or to even try booting from a DVD.

Mar 18, 2012For the past month or so, my laptop has been randomly shutting down with no warning whatsoever. It doesn't even restart, it just completely turns off. I can be doing anything and it will happen.

My computer repeatedly shuts down on me. Yesterday it must have shut down on me 20 times. My virus and malware scans come out clean. It usually goes to a menu asking me if I want to start the computer normally or in safe mode. However sometimes, I have to run start-up repair and sometimes I get a blue screen. The problem is the blue screen doesn't stay up long enough for me to write down error codes or anything else it says.

Aug 27, 2009I just got an HDMI over cat5 extender (HDMI from computer --> wall plate --> cat5 --> wall plate --> HDMI --> Receiver), got it? I plug the HDMI cable into the laptop and it turns off... immediately, like I pulled the battery and power out.
I connected the computer directly (HDMI from computer --> Receiver) and it worked just fine.
I connected my PS3 through HDMI-->cat5 and it worked fine too.

Jul 12, 2012my computer is shutting down periodically. This just started today, and it has happened twice now. What noticed when I rebooted was that the CPU temperature was at 90C. Now I know that isn't safe, so I am assuming that the overheating is causing the PC to shut down. Is that a correct assessment?So I opened my case up and layed it on the hard floor. CPU temp according to two different utilities (Core Temp and Speccy) is fluctuating between 24C and 25C. Everything seems very stable now.I ran Avast, but nothing came up.
