I'm currently having problems with my graphic card driver and the aero effects in windows 7. It wont allow me to install the driver or use the aero effects and that is a bummer for me. I really wanted to try it out.
This is for Torrentg. Can you please create a custom Inf file for me. I tried everything incl downloading the latest Nvidia driver and mMobilityModder to no avail. Red entries are my edits. As you can see in nvmt.ini I've copied the Section numbers from the previous entries, as in: %NVIDIA_DEV.0426.9005.104D% = Section006, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9005104D
I've had some limited success...
My system now sees the GPU as an Nvidia 8400M. So far so good. However I'm still getting error messages. Firstly, on reboot, the system stops the card because of driver problems. Secondly, if I run the Nvidia software, it says the monitor is not connected to an Nvidia card. Lastly, if I update the driver, it reverts to Standard VGA in the Device Driver list.
So, It looks as if I need to do more. My immediate thoughts are:
1) Should I be editing the nvmt.inf file, or perhaps another one - nvmm.ini or nvlt.in? How do I know which nv??.inf to edit?
2) In the nv??.inf file, I have no idea which 'section' to point at. I tried 11 and 12 as seen in another thread, but got the same issues. So I tried the same section entries as the next most similar card, but to no avail.
I've been search in the internet for a while to find the NVIDIA [GeForce 8400M GT GPU] Driver. I tried the file that provided by the LaptopVideo2go.com, but it still not work.
The properties of my Laptop:
Laptop model: Sony VAIO VGN-FZ17G
OS: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Display card: GeForce 8400M GT GPU
When I check the Device manger, it still recognize [Standard VGA Graphics Adapter].
I need the nvidia 186.81 drivers for my 8400M GT. I have a Sony VAIO however, and the drivers on Nvidia's website do not support it. I have tried calling Sony however they do not have the drivers either. Does anybody know how I could get the drivers I need?

A couple days ago, I installed Windows 7 (through MSDNAA).
I have a problem with some devices. The situation can be seen here:
I tried updating driver software through windows and it said it was unable to find drivers
I have no idea what the "Unknown Device" may be. The "Multimedia Video controller" I'm guessing is my Nvidia graphics card? The Mass Storage Device I think is my Magicgate memory card slot, but I'm not sure.
I have an Nvidia 8400M GT graphics card and judging by what I've seen on the resolution window (and device manager), I'm currently running on my standard VGA graphics device, and not my Nvidia.

I'm using a Sony Vaio TP3 computer. It's a "desktop" with laptop components and was initially running on Vista.
i have a MSI notebook with Nvidia Geforce 8400M G.
i recently installed windows 7 professional (final version, not RC or beta), and discovered a serious problem: it doesn't recognize my Graphic card. instead it claims i have a "Standard VGA graphic adapter" (in dxdiag, device manager etc.). because of that i cant download any Nvidia drivers, cause the setup always says "Nvidia couldn't find a driver compatible with your hardware". that's, again, because windows 7 doesn't recognize my card.
i tried also uninstalling the VGA adapter from device manager, but after restarting it just installing it again.
is there anything i can do? should i wait for windows updates to come and fix my problem? i really don't want to install windows again. is my card not supported, is my Computer not supported?
I am using a Sony vaio laptop VGN-SZ75GN. I recently upgraded my windows vista business 32-bit to a windows 7 ulitmate 64-bit using a clean installation.
I have a external graphic card which is NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS notebook graphics processing unit(GPU) (SPEED MODE) / Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (STAMINA MODE). After installing Windows 7, it couldn't detect the graphic card. This was done by looking at the device manager saying that it only detected a standard VGA Graphic Adapter. I tried to check for updates, but it said that the standard VGA Graphic Adapter was the best driver software. I looked around the forum like a headless chicken and couldn't find a solution for my laptop.
Can anyone find a solution for my problem?
My laptop [HP dv6000] wont recognize the 8400M GS, which it seems a lot of people are having trouble with. It shows i have a standard VGA card. Ive went through the forums, trying every solution that people have had.
The mobility modder didnt seem to do anything, i tried to use torrentg[i think was his handle]'s .inf fix for someone else, and tried just installing a few from the nvidia website. the result was about the same. It would install, say that hardware has changed, and would show my card in the VGA area, and i would restart and 2 things would happen.
A. It would go to the starting windows screen like its loading up, then go black and shut off. Then telling me to do system repair/restore.
B. It would load up like A. but instead of going black, it flashed red several times for a couple seconds then shut off going into system restore.
Any ideas?
My HP dv6735en with above graphics cards just vanished after upgrading from vista to win 7. In device manager the only listing under graphics is the VGA card (even screen saver shows insufficient graphics error) I tried searching new hardware no luck

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if the last driver for Windows XP made by NVidia for an (AGP) Quadro2 Pro will work on Windows 7. On Dell Workstation 340. I searched this forum and found a thread of a person that said it worked but he didn't said if it worked 100%, as in 2d acceleration, 3d support (OpenGL), etc.. Already contacted NVidiia but their customer service uses the same public search engine so it may be outdated information.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis occured just hours after I first registered for this website.I have had some problems with updating the drivers for my EVGA GTX 460 SE 1GB and it has been giving me h3ll about it.Innocently, just hours after I registered for this site, I was going to do a Windows update as I hadn't yet done one in weeks and decided to do the optional update on Windows 7 Pro for a new nVidia driver as I do with everything. When I downloaded it, installed, then restarted, my computer started to act kind of funny. For the most part it was pristine, but it started and continues to operate funny with the visual display.1) During the second Windows loading screen, the one after the glowing Windows logo, the screen quickly flickers to black and back to the screen during the process. It does this sometimes while I'm navigating in Windows as well using some programs albeit somewhat infrequently.2) The driver update screwed up my desktop display immensely as it is now. When I originally installed the nVidia driver from the EVGA cards software CD, I noticed the picture quality and resolution jumped up immensely and added higher resolutions to my desktop settings. Icons got immensely smaller, more windows with smaller text could fit on the screen, the cursor was half the size about, and my start menu and bar with it's icons, shrunk down a bit smaller too. That was the healthy behavior. Now when I did this Windows Update for the nVidia display driver it messed everything up to what it is now. Everything is blown up in size. And when I tried to uninstall all the nVidia software, restarting, and then installing it again using the latest driver download off of nVidia's website, the same stuff. I can see the uninstallation of the driver causes it to revert to I take it some default Windows visual driver lowering the max desktop resolutions and that reinstalling the driver off of the website does indeed add the higher resolutions and the visual appearance does change where the cursor, icons, etc. aren't as pixelated, but everything is still oversized instead of shrunken down like as is normal. It says my desktop is at 1680x1050 as the monitor is and what stuff on my desktop has on it looks more high-definition, but the actual size of icons, cursor, etc. almost suggest like it's running on a lower resolution.3) As I tried to reinstall the driver from the website and it didn't do much to change the problem, I tried instead to use the CD again and it's giving me h3ll about it. I even went so far as to uninstall it through both normal and safe mode boots and do a Norton Utilities scan to scan for junk files and registry entries as well as try some driver cleaner software to get rid of excess stuff that may not have been gotten rid of, and then use the EVGA driver CD. But the driver CD will show up the autorun window, but then when I try to install the drivers it gives me an error message saying "Access denied". Why is it doing that? And I know fully well it's the Windows Update of the nVidia driver that is doing this because it did it just after I installed it. It screwed things up BAD and will not do something so stupid as taking their nVidia updates from this point on, but the question still remains... How do I get the d@mn drivers to work PROPERLY? How do I get the visual display to be 100% FULLY WORKING?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi was trying to get drivers for my printer. After restart, screen went black. I restarted in safe mode with netwking to find out what to do. So I eventually found out my graphics card had no driver; it had a generic vga adapter. So I search for my graphics card to find it is an Nvidia GeForce fx 5200 and I get the drivers for it.
I restart in normal mode: no success. restart in safe' with net' . starts and am notified that drivers have installed. Now on next restart in normal mode, application error 0xc150002...press ok. Then i get a message in the bottom right hand corner that says 'windows is not genuine build 7600'.
I have seen how to change it with/without cmd, but either requires normal mode.
So how do I re enter my product key?
