I have been using vmware player for just a few weeks and have had no problem with network connection up until last week when I did some changes (Windows e-activation and removals using 'Hijack This'. I have obviously deleted lots of stuff I am not suppose to delete as I have had nothing but pc problems ever since. My host machine is Windows XP SP3 Guest OS is Scientific Linux When I go to verify which processes are running it only shows vmnat.exe running but not vmnetdhcp.exe so I try to see if I can install vmnetdhcp.exe but get the pop-up window message "DllRegisterServer entry point was not found".

Months ago I installed VMware player 4.0.2-28060 to install a VM which completed successfully as it should, about a week ago I wanted to update my version of the software. I downloaded and attempted to install 4.0.4-744019 and encountered an error stating that some files could not be found, Does anyone have any idea where I could get the installation package for VMware player 4.0.2-28060? I've searched both google and the VMware site it's self over several times
i am trying to install nt 4.0 in vmware player with windows 7 home 64 bit system as host. while installing i receive a message during the nt setup that states, "setup has determined thay your computers startup hard disk is new, or have been erased, or that an operating system is installed on your computer with which windows nt cannot coexist".it goes on to state that "continuing may damage or destroy the existing operating system." it continues "if your hard drive is new or has been erased or you want to discard its current content press enter to continue setup."is this a normal message? i saw a Internet video showing the install of nt 4.0 and did not see the author getting this message. my concern is damaging my host os(windows 7) by continuing with the installation.
Anyone know why having the latest VMWare Player installed, makes you click on your user account at the log on screen after bootup on the Host machine without having a password protected account, when if you didn't, would normally just boot into Windows??
I'm thinking maybe since I didn't set up a password with the installation of my guest Win 7 VM..hmm.
i follow your tutorial and I preparate a zip folder with sf diagnostic tool. In my new sony vaio notebook vpcf2, just using it with different application opened (not always the same but usually: eclipse, sqldeveloper, vmware player, chrome, firefox, iexplorer) the pc shutdown with a BSOD.
I'm about to install Windows 8 preview in a virtual environment (VM ware player). Am I correct if I suppose that no traces are being left within Window 7 if I do so and if I uninstall Windows 8 from within VM ware player at a later time? Is there anything special to be considered?
A friend of mine has just given me a nice Sony blue ray player/burner from his old laptop. My question is what cable do I need to connect it to my pc via usb?Is it one of these? USB 2.0 Male to Mini SATA Female Data Cable
Recently when I try and connect to the internet my wireless connection network says it is an unidentified network with no internet access. This never happened before.
(the bytes sent and received). It seems skype calls and watching in browser videos shoot them up into the billions after a few hours +. Upon googling around i am quite alarmed. Why did my network randomly change to "network 3"? A few weeks ago it just said 'network'?
I am wondering if I am missing something here, I have to my knowledge turned off all media streaming capability but yet when I am listening to tunes in the office I have noticed that there is an icon for my office pc's media player on the network. I have turned off the functionality in advanced sharing and it is not turned on in wmp. Is this just the way it is now? Seems like this should be able to be overridden, virtually every guest in my house has access to my htpc and I don't necessarily want them to have access to my office pc's media.
I have a Network Media Tank A-110 Media Player (NMT) which I love, but I have never been able to browse my WORKGROUP through my homeplug home network. Instead I have had to use iHome server installed on my PC (connected to a homeplug) and a standard UPnP server on my NAS (also connected to a homeplug) in order for my NMT to see my media files. My NMT is connected to a Netgear gigabyte ethernet switch (as is my blu ray, AV AMP, TV) which itself is plugged into a 200gb Homeplug. However today I decided to plug my PC directly into the gigabyte ethernet switch using a 10m cat5 cable, and lo & behold - my NMT can now browse my entire network!Of course I wanted to check that it wasn't a fluke so I unplugged it and plugged my pc back into the homeplug, and the NMT cannot now see the WORKGROUP to browse at all.It seems that, somehow, the homeplugs are stopping my NMT from browsing the network.
I am able to access the internet through my wireless work computer and xbox. my home dell laptop will not connect to the internet. It is showing that i am connected to the linksys but Access type says no internet connection. I have already tried and ran FSS.exe becuase thought it might be a malware issue.

i am thinking it it might be because i have bridged my connection for my 360, but i have a red x on my network connection but i still have full internet. i already searched and did many steps...even the cmd one but no luck. so could it be from my wired 360 via bridge connection?
I want to change DNS address but when in "Network connection properties" I select the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) line the Properties button is not active and I can not click it to open and change the DNS address. Also I see now that Properties button is inactive for all the other lines too.. I can't find the reason of that..Did I restrict something by mistake? or is it another problem..I'm on Windows 7 Home Professional..
If I am connected to the network I am not able to logon. Once I disconnect the network cable I can logon and than I need to reconnect the cable again to be able to work properly. If I lock the screen and I want to unlock it again I need to disconnect the network cable to be able to logon.See the pic for the error messages: (its in dutch sorry)We tried to remove the object in AD and added it again but no joy. All accounts (also admin accounts) on the machine have the same impact

I have RC 7100x64 connected (per cat cable) to a wireless router. Windows 7 created a home network. Router is perfectly fine and my 2 laptops automatically login into the internet. In the beginning my despktop also jsut was able to be online after booting up.
At some point (I did all updates, installed all my software) the PC does not connect to the internet anymore. Tehonly way to get online is to:
- open Network Center
- leftclick "Connections: local area connection" --> disable
- go to trouble shoot problems
- then it finds " the local area network adapter is disabled"
- I click " fix it" and it will work.
I attached the screens
How can I make it connect automatically (as it did before)? I set all services I could think of to " automatic" (IP Helper etc.). From researching I read that XP had a similar problem with SP3. not sure if it is related, but coudl an update be at fault?
Everything is up to date, Kasperksy keeps viruses away, I did not do one of the registry-cleaner tools.
Since it worked at first, one of my isntallations or updates must have done it. I also did some of the "service optimizations" from here bu tundid all of them to resolve my problem.
One could say I should isntall a newer built, but first I just want to use it before I buy the real deal in October. Second, it used to work with RC 7100 and going through all the trouble reinstalling is a hassle.
Out of the blue, I lost my Network and Internet connectivity Windows 7 gave me excellent troubleshooting tips like to check if I have a cable connected.Device manager tells me that my network adapter is working properly (Realtek GBE).When I try to connect to a network it tells me no network connection found. The machine is still configured as it was out of the box (relatively new machine - Dell XPS Studio 9100 - Windows 7 Home Edition 64 Bit). It been working fine for almost a year. I sincerely hope reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 is not the answer to every windows 7 problem
So, we have a network of about one terabyte of storage on it. It is normally connected to my laptop, a desktop and our Playstation 3. Obviously it connects via internet with our wireless router and such but for some reason it won't connect to my laptop? I have everything except a few programs on the network (Everything from my documents to my pictures to my other programs are stored on the network)...thus not being able to access it is a HUGE difficulty
I am doing some troubleshooting and I want to completely remove my network connection. I remember with Windows XP when I did this, it would re-detect the network card and reload the drivers and settings after I rebooted.
I can disable the connection but not delete. How do I remove the connection in Windows 7 x64?
my router is brand spankin new, 802.11n. the modem has since been replaced... but for the life of me, i cannot get a decent download/upload speed.I Used to get 28-31mb download on speedtest.net. then later it dropped to 17-25, and i said, Ok, thats not bad, not great, but not bad. now im down to .81mb-1.2mb average if im lucky i pull 3 or 4.my upload speed has always been no higher than 1mb. i am not 100% sure why, im prety sure they do it so i dont run servers, but it still seems a little low IMHO.I dunno whats going on, i have a bit of network experience, but all software end, nothing hardware end in the way of routers etc?
It seems like it takes several 5-10 minutes for windows 7 to realize its supposed to grant my computer access to the network. After boot up, I open the network and only see my own computer. I refresh several times over 5 minutes and finally the other network computers appear.
About once every two days, my connection to the Internet dies, and won't come back without a System Restore.
I've got two XP machines along with my Windows 7 machine on a D-Link router. About once every two days, my Windows 7 machine just decides that it won't connect to anything on the Internet including chat clients. Without refreshing the router, I can still connect with my other two machines, so I know it's not the router. I even do a restart on my Windows 7 machine and it still won't connect. The only thing that works is a System Restore.
Any ideas of what I can repair without having to do a System Restore?
the status of my wifi say 522,000,000 sent but the recieve is only 50,000,000 bytes,is that normal or someone is using my wifi or my settings are not correct?

i noticed that when i open my task manager sometimes just randomly windows media player network sharing service configuration application runs, but not only 1 there is 5-6 of them all taking about the same amount.I tried looking online for tutorials i tried disabling it in registry in the processes tab but nothing would work. I am running a small home network with 2 pc one on windows 7 and one on xp but the funny thing is that even if the second one is off this process starts by itself.I am running Windows 7 Professional x64, Windows media player 12?
I am trying to download ios 4.2 from apple on itunes for my ipod touch. I have really slow internet and I am running on a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. The download is 346.8 MB and the estimated time starts at around 9 hours. But even after 5 hours since I start it only says the estimate is 8 hours! Then when it finally gets to 7 a little window pops up and says the network connection timed out.
Acer Aspire 7745 Notebook (purchased 10/25/2010)Win 7 HP 64-bit (build 7600) (last update 11/11/2010)Broadcom 802.11n Wireless Adapter (5.60.48.35)Since the last update, the wireless network keeps dropping its connection randomly. Windows Network Diagnostics says it can't connect. Status shows limited connection. Manual disconnect and re-connect says "Not in range" although it shows in the available networks with strong signal. Disable and re-enable causes the entire system to lock up and I have to power down. The only reliable way to reestablish a connection is to reboot or wait some random amount of time until the system decides to recognize the wireless network again.
