Every time i start my pc up i have to go to the back and take the ethernet cable out and put it into my 2nd ethernet port. Most of the time this works but some times it does not and requires an instant reboot. I know my mother board is a bit out dated and my router (Linksys wrt54gs).my brother has windows 7 also and does not have this problem on his pc, neither did i on the same pc but when i ran vista.

I normally use Mozilla Firefox but an upgrade programme I recently downloaded needs IE to install. IE couldn't display the webpage so I downloaded and installed IE9 On running there was a script error. Line 1, Char 1, Error 'Components is undefined', Code 0 and URL chrome://simppulltoolbar/content/lib/external.js. I selected Yes to continue running scripts. Then came this error. IE cannot display the webpage. I selected Diagnose Connection Problems but Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.

I have a Gateway T-6836, updated to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit a few months ago from Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I've had it for about 2 years, After 1 year a virus killed it, and I reformatted it. Now, a few months ago, unknowingly, my flash drive contracted a virus from my school's pc and infected my laptop. I think I most likely deleted the malware or whatever it was, but it left some side effects, such as some services being unable to start. It was also at the same time I installed a windows update, so I'm not sure if it's both a malware problem and/or a Microsoft problem. It deleted all my system restore points after I restarted the computer.
My laptop is completely isolated from the world. No internet, fails to detect anything in the usb slots, and the CD-rom is brokenWhen I'm not connected to a network, there's a yellow asterisk sign, when I'm connected there's a big red X button and I get 'limited connectivity.' When I try to troubleshoot the problem, it gives me "The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running" Tried to repair it and failed. I tried starting it manually in Services but that gives me "Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service service on Local Computer. Error 5: Access is denied."Tried perfmon /repair failed. It gave me an error:"Error:An error occured whiled attempting to generate the report.
When starting Internet Explorer, I keep getting and error message telling me that Windows Installer cannot be accessed. Now I cannot open Outlook, Word, iTunes etc. When I do try to open these programs, I get a message saying "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Small Business 2007", but it doesnt seem to do anything. I've run a diagnostic (F12) and was alerted of the following error :Error Code 0142, Msg Error Code 2000-0142, Status 79. The system is extremely slow and I can only stay logged onto an IE page for a few minutes before it has to shut down. My system just restarted (not sure why) and after the start up I got this error message "An error occurred in the program. Try to open it again. With my new computer I have been using my old laptop to connect to my wireless network (since my new computer doesn't have a wireless adapter) through the Internet Connection Sharing function in Windows 7. This all worked fine for about a week but then suddenly I cannot connect to the internet anymore. I discovered that this was because the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service was not started. I tried starting it but I just get an error saying "The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues.
When i got home today didn't my computer work, my girlfriend has been the last one using it. usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.
When I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

The original computer booted with the windows start up screen. And the test computer booted up with the vista boot up screen.

Last night I was on my computer and then I shut it down. Today when I came home from work it keeps saying windows failed to start. I tried hitting f8 and loading to the last good configuration doesn't work, safe mode same thing, repairing nothing, so my last resort was my windows 7 cd. So I went into bios and made my configuration boot from cd/dvd popped it in and restarted, a black screen came up saying windows is loading files, then the windows 7 menu came up, picked my language, next, and first I tried repair my computer, I get the little circle meaning its loading for like 5 seconds them it does nothing, rebooted again but this time I chose, install and I've been on the setup is starting for like 20 min. And forgot to mention, when it boots seem like it does good then comes to the screen where it says windows failed and gives me two options repair our start normal, if I pick repair it just reboots and start normal takes me to like the pick your user screen but its just blank no users, so I can't even restore our access the computer.

Sadly the PC wont start so unable to try too much, it lets you select user, attempts to ,log onto the user then just goes to mthe blue screen and starts the cycle again. It will not start in safe mode either, basically the same result although sometimes it loads and you are in but when you try to do anything it goes to the blue screen again. I did get the error code (not always the same on the blue screen but this one comes up most time), "driver IRQL not less or equal"

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Ultimate (x64).I use the Asus Suite II supplied with my Asus Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 Motherboard (which I like for fan and temperature monitoring) Ai Suite II always loads BUT "on screen" it is messy during loading because a seemingly AI Suite bar sized white artefact appears top left of screen for 10- 20 seconds before disappearing when the AI suite icon appears in the notification tray. Sometimes a white square also appears temporarily.I have noted that if I exit Ai Suite II and reload via the Asus AI suite supplied Shortcut I never get these artefacts AND the suite loads instantaneously (I note however Asus uses AI Suite II.exe via the shortcut but via the Asus installed Task Schedule it open via "AsRoutineController.exe -open"I have also tried unloading AI Suite II and AsRoutineController.exe and loading AsRoutineController.exe and it too loads cleanly and almost instantaneously.

I will try to be as descriptive as possible. I currently have GoWifi to access my internet (my room mate has it to)But for the past 4 days my computer has been running horribly slow. I can't use a enthernet cable becuase "Gowifi" is only wireless. I use google chrome most of the time, but the internet is slow on chrome and explorer. I have tried the "ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew" method. I have also tried to Reset WINSOCK, Reset IPv4, Reset IPv6, and then restarted my computer but still did not do the trick. anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
