SSD/HDD Not Found In BIOS?
Dec 26, 2012New system build with Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3(v1.1), AMD FX8350 4.0Ghz/8coreVertex4SSD, Gigabyte GeForce GTX660 2GB video, 500wPSU, Win7 Home Premium/64.System ran/loaded/updated fine for about 6 hours then crashed during game play.BIOS/Windows unable to recognize SSD, unable to re-install Windows - get as far as "No drives were found. Dec 2, 2011It wasn't until my 1.5 TB Seagate 7200.11 storage HDD died last week that I found this enormous info on the web about a possible malfunction that rendered these 7200.11 drives useless. Also read about a firmware update released by seagate to fix this problem.
Now going back to last week, I was working with my pc and the drive worked as well as always, then I took it out from the case because I wanted to place it in a new build but the silly me somehow pushed the drive with my elbow while it was on the table and it fell down, performed a couple of spins and finally rested on the carpeted floor. It isn't recognized in 3 pcs so far, not even in the BIOS.
I've read in some forums that you can recover the stuff on the drive by making a usb or serial cable, connecting it to the little pins on the drive and running some commands on a terminal (i.e. Hyperterminal or Putty). This procedure is for 7200.11 malfunctioning drives.
I will try the method described above knowing my drive probably died from the fell and not from a bad factory firmware, but at this point I'm trying anything.

I'm currently installing windows 7 (x64) on my new drives and I get the "no device drivers found" message that has haunted me in the past. I remember previously I resolved this issue on my Samsung F1 by setting the drive configuration in my BIOS to IDE, of course, this is not possible now as it must be set to RAID.

Aug 23, 2011I've got an Acer Model As5742 Laptop with an i5 480M processor and 8 GB of good Ram. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit. It's only about 5 months old and this started about a month ago. I have no other problems. IE: Blue Screens or Lockups or anything, just the Bios clock changes to a random date and time after every restart. I replaced the Bios battery twice and it only effects the chore of having to reset the time in Windows every time I boot.
I'm going to send it to Acer to be repaired within a week or two, but maybe it's not a bad timing mechanism in the motherboard and one of you people have a correct solution to it. Which will save me the trouble of sending it in for a motherboard replacement.
I do have all the drivers and bios updates installed. Oh yes I've ran about 15 different virus Etc. Malware scans with several different products and they all come back clean. I ran System File Checker SFC /scannow from the command prompt several times that also comes back OK.

Jul 21, 2011well the problem is i went to my friend today after a long night trying to fix the problem from the first thread which didnt work and everything was okay since then, thats the last time i touched the computer and when i was at my friend's house i wanted to download an mp3 and didnt figure out why it downloads it perfectly but then i saw on the firefox download statusbar "file size: file not found" so i checked my desktop and found the file which was named like it should be only at the end was ".part" which as i know is the temp file being downloaded. i tried changing its name to .mp3 and it didnt work, i also tried refreshing the desktop which made the file disappear! now im at my home again and i tried to download it again assuming my friend's router was maybe malfunctioning but the same thing happens now at my place.what is wrong with my new computer?!i googled the problem and found out that memtest would let me see if my ram is the problem. i downloaded memtest which doesnt work on my win 7 coz its 64 bit and memtest doesnt support it at all.

Mar 18, 2012i am currently using a windows 7 hp laptop, But for some odd reason when i plug in my RCR microphone it will just not work.Yes i can hear everything fine but instead of capturing my voice through the RCR mic. It instead captures it through the laptop mic. Whenever i unplug the rcr mic then the laptop mic will stop being in use. Jun 12, 2011I got a server that is running Windows 7. It hold movies music etc... The only way to connect with it is via RDP. But in Windows 7 I am unable to use the CD/DVD drive. I cant burn music or movies. I use Nero atm.
When I used Windows XP it worked just fine.
