New Computer Will Not Access European WiFi Networks
Sep 1, 2011
I purchased a new HP Windows 7 laptop for my wife to take to France and England. The computer works perfectly here in the US! I have Microsoft Security Essentials running on it. All software and drivers are up to date.
Over there when she trys to browse the Internet using the hotels' WiFi she gets a message about certificates being expired. I assume this is the website's certificate. But she says no websites can be accessed.
For the past few months, I have been accessing the internet with my laptop's wifi through my neighbor's password-protected network (with his permission). I also sometimes go online using another neighborhood network which does NOT have a security key.As of today, I can view networks and connect to both of these (as well as others), but I can't get online. I get the "No Internet access" message when I connect to any network. When I go to the command prompt and type ipconfig /all, I get this for IPv4 address: 192.168.1.9(Preferred) and I cannot successfully ping any ip addresses.
i have acer ao happy laptop.i have both a wifi and lan connection.i am not able tu use both the connections at th same time.but few days earlier my torrent clint was able to use both connections.and if i've started a download and remove my lan cable i starts download with wifi and during the download i again plug in the cable it starts using the both connections but till the download is completed
I use WI-FI enabled ADSL router to get internet access and share my adsl internet connection with my other Wi-Fi enabled devices. I use encrypted connection. Sometimes my friends connect their Wi-Fi device to my network. So how do I protect my PC and other devices against malware spreading via Wi-Fi? I use Norton internet security 2012.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit hereAm unable to connect to any NEW Wifi Networks that are detected. The WiFi Adapter sees them just fine - just cannot connect to them. However am able to connect to existing networks (SSIDs that already appear in "Manage Wireless Networks").Furthermore, If I boot into my Windows 7 Enterprise for work, everything works good. For example:I have a saved WiFi connection for my Verizon Hotspot device, that I can always connect to.But if am at hotel (no encryption), and want to connect to their wireless, It fails to connect.
I have sony laptop, i have install the internet driver, but i cant access network. i connect through wifi and i have all info of wifi eg. Username and pasword but that shows no internet access so
I have got a sony vaio laptop VPCEB2ZOE, today the wifi just disapeared, I cant see any available networks, I restored the system to a previous setting but still I could not find the wifi restored.
I was wondering if it was possible to have specific IP configurations for Wifi networks. For example, when I connect to network "wifi1" I get automatically DHCP address, and when I connect to "wifi2" I get static IP which I defined before.
My sister just got a Acer Aspire One 5032H, which came with the crappy windows 7 starter on it, and all WAS working. I installed windows 7 ultimate, which I got through my company and have installed on over 6 computers before with no problems. After installing the new operating system, the wifi card (Atheros) does not find our home wifi network. The other computers in the house pick up the wifi fine. Ive installed the newest version of the driver several times and tried the uninstall stuff as well. Ive updated a few other drivers as well by plugging the computer into an Ethernet cable. The orange light is on under the wifi symbol (no sure if it should be blue), the computer says that the card is working properly, and that it is enabled.
I'm visiting my parents for the summer and I brought my laptop with me and the wireless was working fine for the first month or so. One random day it stopped working and will not connect. I called dell support and for some reason it just started working when I was on the phone with him, but for the next couple of days it would connect for awhile then not connect 15 minutes later. It's not the router because it won't connect to other networks, the dell support guy says its not the hardware (everything in the device manager says its fine also), It works when the ethernet cable is plugged in, I installed all the latest drivers for the network adapter (Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN), I installed a registry fix program and for a little bit it was working with some networks, but only limited access.
I've looked absolutely everywhere I can think of and I can't find a way to disable auto-joining unknown networks. There has to be a way to do it, otherwise that would be a huge security flaw. When in range of my own router or any other access point I have saved, it's fine. However, When I take my laptop elsewhere, it automatically joins unprotected networks, which I don't want to happen
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, with Windows 7 home x64. As soon as I turn my computer on and the system finds available connections, the system connects itself automatically to the first WiFi network it finds. Usually this would be my home network, which is fine. But occasionally, this would be my neighbor's unprotected network, which is not as fine.
Potentially, this could be a malicious network, monitoring my internet traffic, which is not fine at all. A possible solution might be to check upon system start that the correct network is used. However, if the connection is accidentally broken, for whatever reason, the system again connects itself to the next available network, which is again problematic. How can I stop this automatic WiFi connections?
A while back I'd get BSOD very regularly ONLY when connected & using the internet. I did some rummaging on here & found out that it was the athr.sys driver that was corrupted. So I went on the internet, found a clean copy, downloaded and swapped it out with the corrupted driver. Everything was fine for a couple months until last week the same thing happened again. So knowing the steps I had to take I repeated what I did by finding another copy of athr.sys off of the internet. (I think it was the same site so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a tainted copy) instead of swapping the files I accidentally went to Device Manager and fully uninstalled my wifi card! Panicking I reinstalled it using what must have been my laptops pre-installed software(?) (Also I note at this point when I accidentally uninstalled my wifi card I think I saw another device from the network section of Device Manager disappear along with Atheros. Whatever that device was, if it was even there, is a mystery to me)
i'm running Windows 7 on my laptop and i am using mobile 3G modem as an adapter to connect to Internet. The problem is when i am connect the NIC to my DLINK router, the Internet connectivity become lose where Network and Sharing center stated that there is Multiple Networks with no Internet access. FYI, my DLINK router is not connected to Internet but Mobile 3G modem does connected to internet. This is my result of ipconfig /all

Last night I was on the internet at home absolutely fine and my laptop automatically downloaded an update, since then I have been unable to connect to my wi-fi. I deleted the updates and was still unable to connect, so I tried to used a system recovery restore point and every one I use starts but fails to complete. So, I did a factory reset after around 8 hours of trying to sort it out today and I STILL have the same problem. I can plug in the cable to connect and my housemate is having absolutely no issues connecting and neither is my phone so now I am at a total loss what I should do to resolve this. Prior to the factory reset I was able to connect to the wi-fi but it was stating no network access/limited access and now it simply won't connect to my internet at all. It finds my full strength signal but will not connect. My drivers for the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n card are the most up to date and the laptop (HP G62) says it is working fine.
i am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and it has run well for 1.5 years. a day ago however my wireless network icon disappeared from my system tray. you can see what my problem is here on Internet:
Someone else computer is showing up under Networks on my computer. Must be someone who lives in this building. How do I keep this from showing up and if her's shows up on mine, does mine show up on hers?
I own a laptop (no numerical keypad on the right) with 32 bit Windows 7 professional.I have both the English and Italian keyboard installed. (I switch between the languages using ctrl + shift) When typing in Italian, I sometimes need ' ' to be capitalized.
im having trouble with my wifi. The day before it works fine but then the next day i turned on my Vaio laptop and it says Limited Access to my home wifi. I tried connecting to other wifi but same thing. I tried resetting the router, disabling and enabling the wireless connection but all didnt work. I tried connecting it with the cable directly still cannot connect. Finally i did a system restore to the day before where its working fine, it worked. The next day it says Limited Access again! So im guessing 'something' made my wifi error after that 1 day and i dont know what to do
I have a Linksys WRT54GS that I bought at least 6 years ago. It has worked flawless from the start so I never had to learn anything about wireless networking. That is until now.I just built a new system with a clean install of Windows 7 which I have been running since the final public release in July of 2009. At the same time I took my old box, formatted the HD and put a clean install of XP on it. It has a Linksys WMP54GS wireless-G PCI adapter (w/ speedbooster). Both of these boxes were painless to get online with after the builds. However........now I can no longer access my network with my cellphone and my daughter can no longer connect with her laptop. The network shows up on the phone and the laptop but when trying to connect it won't. Not a thing had been changed on the router. Password is still the same etc. I did go ahead and do the firmware update though. The last time I updated it was 2007 and there had been 8 updates since then. As I said all had been fine so I never thought about checking for updates.
What has me puzzled is that the wireless XP box connects just fine but no matter what the phone and laptop won't. Now this may be a really stupid question but seeing as this is a new Windows 7 install on a new computer (assembled from a Newegg bundle deal) do I need to install the Linksys software CD? Windows 7 Seems to have already configured everything for the network and drivers. I'm hesitant to run the CD because I don't want to risk hosing something in the process and having no internet at all. It's not critical to have the other devices be able to connect but it would be nice to have full access like I used to
there is a similar problem wifi is connected but there is no internet access.... there is a yellow triangle with is warning mark on it my is a new laptop and model is dell inspiron 15r 7520?
i can't access internet by wi-fi or manually. I have driver update and wifi fix on jump drive. Jump drive not showing when inserted. How can i load updates?
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that won't connect wirelessly to my network. ALL other devices in the house (iPhones, iPads, iMac, 1 laptop and another desktop) work fine, no problems. I've tested the laptop at my girlfriend's house using her wifi and still the same problem: Limited Access.
I've ran the troubleshoot, re-booted the router & laptop, checked device manager for any exclamation marks against any drivers (none), tried disabling/enabling the driver, checked for driver updates (none), done a system restore and uninstalled my antivirus software but all to no avail.
Edit: I've tried plugging in the ethernet cable which, although not particularly straight-forward, eventually works.
Wifi connected but after like 5 - 15 mins, it shows no internet access (yellow !) at random. Sometimes it can happen every 1 min and freuqency great increases when im streaming a video/uploading/downloading or playing an online game.
I tried all the solutions such /run winsock reset & preferred DNS 218. 67. 222. 222.
