View 1 Replies View RelatedAs per a lot of other people on here, I'm having issues with connecting my desktop PC to my BigPond router. It will connect via wireless (have an installed D-Link DWA525 wireless card) but will not connect via LAN.I've changed the IP, DNS and Default gateways to the same as the other working PC's in the house, but still no luck. The mobo uses Realtek GBE Family PCI-E controllers, but for some reason it won't move off 10Mbps (even when I try to tell it to change this).I have tried new drivers, and have tried uninstalling drivers and letting windows install its own. None have worked. I've disabled V6, didn't work.My IPCONFIG ALL shows up the following: [code]
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have done things such as remove Bonjour, Stop services from Apple and Adobe, manually set my I.P. address, ping 127.0.0.1 with success, updated drivers, removed Microsoft office. Just trust me a HUGE list of things and none of them have worked. This all started when I had to restart my PC. My PC starts says the network is Unidentified, the repair tries to restart it, then suggest I restart my router, then says "Local area network is a invalid IP configuration."
We currently have 2 laptops (One with Vista the other with 7) and a desktop(XP) running on the network fine (Mine usually being the second desktop):
Windows 7 x32
4GB RAM
500GB HD
AMD Phenom II Black Edition 3.1Ghz
Nvidia 9800GT
I've had this problem since I bought a new desktop PC with windows 7 installed. Every once in a while my internet stops working (router+modem) and a yellow exclamation mark appears. When I use the windows solution utility I get two different messages:
a)either my wireless network connection does not have a valid IP
b) the default gateway is not available
I am using d-link dwa-127 wireless adapter since my computer does not have an integrated wifi card, and I have already removed norton, which could possibly be blocking my conncection. I have tried setting my IP manually, but it does not work.
At the beginning it all functioned normally, and even now it works, but it did not before. I also noticed that when it does not work it says 'Unidentified network', and when it does it says 'Smuc' (the ssid of our network). The internet as such is working this whole time, I always check it on my laptop with windows XP and an integrated WiFi card.
When i installed the windows, i had no errors, nothing whatsoever. But when i tried to go on the Internet 1st it gave me error that i am in Unidentified network, and i could see my step brothers PC on the network, and could go in that drive, copy/paste etc.. but i couldn't access Internet. I am constantly getting error with "Wrong IP Configuration."
I got no idea why i am getting this. in IPv4 properties i chose "Assign IPs by default" (or sth like that)
my network submask is 255.255.255.0,
and it assigns me submask of 255.255.0.0 , and i dont know why
Not sure about /flush or /renew in cmd, but i will try that today too..
I have been using Windows 7 beta (386) with no problems up until a few days ago.I've run into the The Network Adaptor "Local Area Connection" does not have a valid IP Configuration message. When I go to Network Sharing I see that I am connected to an Unidentified Network but unable to connect to the internet. This has happened all of a sudden.

I am sure its virus problem, because IP, and others adjust are OK. Sometimes after scanning Windows with some antivirus system, internet works, but sometimes it doesnot. Well, is there any way to restore and repair damage caused by some virus or windows crushed, that are affected Internet? Now I have a computer that only things is affected is internet conexion. It doesnot work.
I repeate, is not a problem with LAN card, IP adress, so on..
The computer which has the problem is an Acer Aspire X3400, 64-bit operating system. I get the unidentified network no internet access thing come up when i click on the little symbol at the bottom which has the yellow warning triangle infront of it. I have tried disabling the connection and restoring it. Releasing the ip and renewing it. I have tried to update the driver (ethernet cable) but it says it is up to date. In the driver management there is a yellow triangle next to the USB network interface.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet. Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.
I've been through mostly all topics and ways to make my internet work in your forums but I still can't find a solution. I installed windows 7 on my laptop and when I try to connect to the internet wireless, all I get is this message: wireless network connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration[CODE]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was a bit of a loss and maybe it's because I have been out of the game for a long time but I came across a disturbing development. I call century link because my router was not connecting at the proper speed of 7 mbps. That problem was easily remedied over the phone but the lady said she could see several devices connected. This lost me a bit because I have a double router configuration. The Actiontech PK5000 i turned into nothing more that an internet modem. I disabled the DHCP and configured my Linksys E1200 for all the internal DHCP so there is only one cable going to the PK5000. I should technically speaking look like one user on there network with natural protection from the second router. I may be kidding myself or man I'm getting old but if someone can tell me how that works it would be fun to know and what would even be funner to know is how to stop it

Above is the error that comes up after I troubleshoot this issue. okay so to start off let me say the things I have done.
1. I have restarted my computer multiple times and restarted the modem and router.
2. I've checked my services to make sure that that weird code is not there and it was not.
This problem just came up recently and had no issues with it before and this computer has been running for over a year.
I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my desktop (home) and Windows 7 x64 Pro on my laptops. I bring my personal laptop to work which I use for emails and browsing. There is sensitive information that I would not like to share for obvious reasons. I am running into a problem making sure the information is not in "shared" mode while at work.
Work has their own network, which I am unable to connect to because the Sys Admin is lazy and will won't provide me a VPN connection directly to the system. So what I have done is use the public WiFi that we make available to our customers and connect through my own VPN off the public WiFi system. I want to make sure that I am not inadvertently sharing documents or other information doing so. When I connect to the network at work I use the "Public" setting.
What makes it more difficult is I have a similar situation at home, in which we have one internet connection through a router coming in and several people use the system. The location of the router is actually upstairs where I do not have access to, I use a Netgear WNR2000 v2 (I rent out rooms in my house), so I am forced to connect to the router wireless.
I personally am not a gamer, but one of the tenants is. I almost always use my VPN service at home to connect, but I am unsure if this is the correct set-up. I don't want to share my printers, video, etc. with everyone in the house. I am using Norton 360 for protection with Firewalls and Anti-virus software. I connect through Golden Frog VPN service for security.
I am going to connect my desktop Gigabit switch with my devices but again want my system secure, but not limited because of my situation. It is safe using the router for access and then creating this "sub-network" for my devices (for the router I am the admin)? Is there a better method or suggestion that one might have. I would really appreciate the input for this complicated matter. Should I change my workgroup for home and work? Currently its the default WORKGROUP domain for both.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just bought an HP Pavilion DV6 with Windows 7 64-bit. After the initial setup, I tried to connect to my wireless router (BT Home Hub) and after typing in the wireless key, it connects, but the network's read as unidentified and does not connect to the internet. Upon going through the diagnosis stages, it eventually comes up with '"Windows Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration'.
This seems like a pretty common problem but I haven't seemed to come across a solution viable to me.
I'm running Windows 7 professional on an HP 4320s probook. I recently uninstalled some of the HP programs because I never used them (sorry can't remember which) and now I cant connect to the internet. I get the error message in the thread's title.I've tried ipconfig/release and the fix that has netsh ip textlog in it and i've also disabled the IP helper. None of these have worked. I looked for webroot in services.msc but couldnt find it so i don't think that's the problem either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI frequently bring my laptop to work where the is a public wireless signal. I work at a hospital. There is a secure network but I don't have the password for it, so I use the public one. Up until recently I used an old asus with vista, and while the signal was pretty low I had no problem connecting to it and staying connected. Just meant slow internet for me. However, that computer has sadly died and I bought a samsung NP700Z5B-S01UB. And while it's a very nice machine, I cant seem to connect to the network here. It shows that there is a low wireless signal, but it still wont let me connect. The error it gives me is "wireless network connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. since I cannot do anything to the wireless network at all (as it is a network associated with the hospital).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get a triangle and exclamation point on the wireless signal icon in my task bar after about an hour after being connected to the internet. When I hover over the icon it displays "Limited Access". Connection is lost at this point.I then right click the icon and click "Troubleshoot Network Problems" and windows seems to restart the network card and I regain internet access for another hour or so. It says the error was "Wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration". This is hard for me to troubleshoot because everyone else that has this error cannot connect to the internet in the first place. I am (strangely) connected just fine then all of a sudden I get "Limited Access" with full wireless bars caused by an "invalid IP configuration".I have unchecked the power saving feature for the network card and tried disabling the firewall, but I'm not sure what else to do.

I'm having trouble with my very new computer (Lenovo Y480 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), which I've narrowed down to the following sequence:
1. I restored computer to original factory settings (to rule out possible causes)
2. I ran msconfig, and checked the boxes 'Safe Mode' and 'Networking.' I got the following error message:"System configuration cannot save the original boot configuration for later restoration. Boot changes will be reverted. The system cannot find the file specified"
3. The default boot option disappeared from the boot menu (Windows 7, default OS, current OS).
4. When I restarted my computer, it would not boot and gave me the error 0xc00034, stating that the file BootBCD was missing.
I did not do anything else with my computer after restoring the factory settings, and I did not connect to the internet. I originally encountered the problem when I wanted to try installing Windows updates in safe mode after some of the installations failed. I have replicated the error several times, including after successfully installing all Windows updates.
My uncle recently purchased an Acer Aspire One computer, but they (walmart) did not switch the administrative rights over to him and it is still under their control. I can not access anything and it's annoying I tried system config and the password is valid, but they disabled programs and features.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Pro, and I need to get around the setup of minimal downloads, even from Microsoft. I need to get around the admin priviliges. How do I do it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter setting up the Christmas tree the other night our breaker was thrown. After starting Windows up I no longer have admin privileges. Worse yet, no user does. Also, from my log in screen only one user is shown (the previous admin account). If I type other users names and passwords I can access them.
Since I can't change anyone's privileges above my own, what do I do?
I know what this sounds like. Before you ban or block or post some smartass remark, hear me out. I'm trying to get around an adminstrator password on my work computer so I can install a couple of useful apps. Before I joined the company, most of the computers were fairly open. About a year ago, they hired an empolyee who took advantage of this an installed personal liscense software on her work computer for work-related use. Obviously this is illegal and the employee was warned. The employee persisted and eventually the company locked the computers down so that you could not install without administrator privileges. This applied to old and new employees. I started about 2 months ago and was given a locked computer. Shortly thereafter the employee who caused the lock down policy left for another position. During this time I began experiencing issues with my computer. This person explained why the computers were locked down when I expressed that it would waste less of his time if the computer wasn't locked. He then said, "Of course you know that there is a workaround right? You just need a windows boot disk. Then you don't need the password." This was the wink, wink, nudge, nudge way of saying as long as you don't do something stupid it's unofficially ok. My question is, is this true, can I use a boot disk and not have to get an admin password to install a program? I'm not looking to install pirated software or software that I own a personal liscense for, I'm looking to install useful tools such as CPU-Z or something similar and to make enhancements such as increasing the page file size. If it's true, how do I go about it? Are there other ways to achieve the same ends?
View 13 Replies View Relatedwant to install office 2007 on win7 , but as administrator I can not. it will run until it's says you do not have privileges.have set system to fullcontrol and also administrator to fullcontrol with the same response
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've searched a number of other forums, looked under Admin privileges in the search panel, checked through the other threads as far as I could, and checked references to Naturally Speaking but cannot find a solution to this problem. I'm not at all technical so will need word of one syllable aI had a local company build me a new computer. I installed windows 7 on the blank disc with just one single user (me) who was classed as administrator. Until recently it worked fine. I installed Naturally Speaking on it and set up a profile. It worked fine from the initial session after installation but, after it had been closed, whenever I tried to restart it the program would load but any attempt to load my profile got the error message: The user file you have selected cannot be accessed. This could be because you do not have sufficient privileges to use it or because it is being accessed by another program."
Attempting to run the program as an administrator gets the message that it cannot be run in enhanced mode. I contacted Nuance (who make NS) and had a long correspondence with them.had no effect. After uninstalling and reinstalling a couple of times and ending up with the same result, I uninstalled it and ran a removal program from Nuance to clear every trace of it. Just recently - to solve a problem with windows that recently appeared - I reinstalled Windows 7 using the update facility on the Win7 installation disc. This worked fine and once again I only had the one single user who had administrator status. There were no working guest or other users.I tried Naturally speaking again with the same result. Once again I completely removed it from the system. I then set up a new user with Administrator privileges. Going into that user I installed NS again. This time it worked fine. I can start it from that user and it works well. If I go to the first user screen there is also an icon for Naturally Speaking but once again, if I start it I can't load my profile with the error message above.
It's not particularly convenient if I have to switch users to use NS. It all seems to be to do with Win 7 Administrator status. Can anyone suggest a way that the original Administrator (me) can get the same administrator privileges as the second user seems to have under his administrator status. It seems a ridiculous situation that one user can use it while the other can't.Sorry to have rambled on but I was trying to give as complete a picture as possible.[CODE]
