When i start the computer i usually need to give between 1 and 5 restarts for the mouse to work.The keyboard ctrl+alt+delete,arrow keys,enter work,but the alt+tab i saw it didn't work.No potential harmful applications running at start(not instartupfolder/msconfig/registry).Tried disabling the windows scheduler.i would also like a more detailed explanation of the resolving process since i am not so good with computers.

A week ago, I started to have BSOD everytime I left the computer for around 10/15 minutes. I updated a lot of drivers etc.. then I formatted my C:/ and reinstalled Windows (still 7 ultimate x64 )So fresh install, antivirus scan is ok, graphic drivers updated, all windows updates done, I even updated the firmware of my SSD (Crucial 64Go) on which Windows is installed and flashed my bios to the latest version.Now, still after a while, my computer "semi-freezes" : depending of my use at the time, a video playing will stop, a browser will stay on the page but won't open new pages and a click on a folder of my Desktop will open a blank folder. I can't Ctrl+Alt+Suppr either.

My mouse and keyboard light up and work in the bios screen but once i get to the windows install screen that asks me to pick a time zone my mouse and keyboard freeze and thier lights turn off. I was running xp fine untill a while ago. I was having hard drive problems.
I ended up getting a replacement hard drive, which is now in my PC.
I tried to do a clean install of 7, but the mouse and keyboard froze during install.
I'm able to install xp, which works fine, but would rather be running windows 7!
how can I fix this!?
I did manage to get it up and running eventually on the old hard drive-after turning off and on many many times during install due to mouse/keyboard freezes! and general 'hanging' at points during install

Another minor, but nonetheless annoying and recurring problem. Even while CPU usage is very low (2%-8% of Core i7-975), frequently the mouse pointer freezes for 1 or 3 seconds on the desktop, then jumps instantly to where I was trying to direct it before it froze momentarily. There is randomly 2-10 seconds of proper mouse-pointer functioning between the freeze-up/hesitations. It keeps doing this repeatedly for as long as 10-15 minutes at a time. And it often happens when there is little or no applications load on the system. I checked Norton by chance it was running a scan in the background... nada. I checked "processes" and "services" running and found nothing unusual. I checked the batteries in my wireless Microsoft ARC mouse and they are full-charged.

Whenever this happens all I can do is turn the power off and restart. Going through my event logs the only common occurrence is that right before I am turning off my computer I get "Filter Manager - Event ID - 6". This is not recorded as an error, but happens right before "Kernel Power - Event ID - 41" which I believe is when I push the power button to restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere's a lag in windows when I hold and drag the mouse for selection rectangle, but only when I keep CTRL or ALT or SHIFT pressed along with the mouse button, there's a lag even with this simple rectangular marquee in windows, the movement gets frozen every 2-3 seconds. And when I hold and drag for rectangular marquee with mouse button only, there's no lag and it's smooth as it should be.
Same behavior in 3D softwares: lag when using mouse button + ctrl or alt or shift, and NO LAG when using mouse button only CTRL, SHIFT and ALT are the cause! But the problem now is how to fix that? I want to use the alt or shift or ctrl key along with the mouse in my 3D apps, it's so convenient and useful. I disabled tablet input service and it doesn't work.

3 month old HP Dv6 Laptop with Windows 7 Problem Windows 7 desktop icons freeze after startup has completed. I have gone through all 106 posts about Windows 7 freezing at startup but I have not as yet found one that fits my problem exactly. The following problem is intermittent at switch on, and when it happens the only way out of it is to power down then switch back on again, maybe once or maybe 3 or 4 times before it is O.K. My toshiba laptop satellite works fine , but after booting it up again the day after i installed those games my laptop stuck's up on welcome screen after putting up my laptops password . I try to fix this problem by going into safe mode and scanning for errors in "error-checking" option on computer's property . After scanning i managed to get through the welcome screen. But my new problem is that my laptop freezes after booting up , when i point my cursor in the taskbar it keeps on loading and never stop and when i open any program is suddenly stops , i cannot open anything.

its is like the whole system just takes a pause, nothing happens, mouse and keyboard freeze up and the game pauses. even if there is no pause it happens.first noticed it in SWTOR mmo. last for a few minutes up to sometime 5 or 6 minutes. nothing happens even screen freezes then when it realeases it like nothing happened i just continue from where i left off except in a mmo then time passes as im frozen and i dont see it pass.i have swapped MoBo with an ASUS P8H67-M pro/csm with B3 revision and it still did it so i went back to my z68 chip set board
Over the night I turn off my Windows 7 computer. Some mornings, when I turn it on, the pc boots normally but the cursor is frozen on the desktop. The mouse itself is lighten up and seems ready to be used. That happens at random and force me to reboot once or twice to get it working. There is no virus. The mouse is a Logitech using a Windows 7 driver.

It really would be nice to know which driver. Can I blindly assume this to be mouse/keyboard related and that in lieu of deleting a driver I can simply install the latest Logitech drivers?
Please understand that my Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit w/SP1 is installed on a new Intel X25M SSD so I am not real eager to wipe the SSD and do a reinstall of Win 7 w/out SP1 (as I have been advised elsewhere)
The mouse is slow to start up after first power up and login. Is there a way alter the start up to activate the mouse asap. The mouse is a Microsoft basic optical usb. I have it pluged in to a usb powered bus. The laptop has only 2 usb plugs and one is in use by the usb bus and the other by another device which will only work when not plugged in to a bus.

As a matter of fact none of my USB-connected periphals are available at that point. I have to note that it's my first system with a lightning fast SSD. Booting Windows to the desktop takes only 10 seconds. Maybe it's just too fast for everything to initialize?

I have no way to access any files on that computer since i have no working mouse/keyboard besides the one that wont work on that, so I need a way to fix it without accessing files that are only accessible after login.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but recently on my girlfriends computer we installed a webcam and everything kinda froze. Upon restarting the computer it comes up with the screen saying a device failed and may need a startup repair. Also gives the option to start windows normally. The problem is the keyboard is not recognized to choose an option. It counts down and goes to the screen to start the startup repair, but again no mouse or keyboard. I have tried accessing the BIOS but considering the keyboard is not working i cannot do that either. I'm not sure what all is in it as I got it from a friend when he built a new one. It is a custom computer, not from a typical manufacturer. It has worked perfectly up until trying to install the webcam. I have tried using every USB port and also tried using a ps/2 converter to no avail. I'm not sure what to do anymore, and I'm afraid of messing with it too much or hard-booting it too much.

Basically when I start my computer using the keyboard in BIOS for f12 and think like that are fine but the second I get into windows login screen I cant type or use the mouse for a good 10-15 seconds which is a right pain. Anyone know why this would be happening? Or anything I can test to see what the problem is. (Mouse and keyboard work fine on other computers)
View 9 Replies View RelatedOccasionally, my laptop's touchpad won't work on start-up. This does not happen all the time, it appears to happen every other boot. I can plug a USB mouse at any moment and have that work fine. This also only happens on Windows 7 from what I can tell, as I dual-boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu has never given me this problem before. I can also use safe mode with Windows 7 and have the touchpad function fine all the time.
