Jun 17, 2011how to fix this Error 1723 - Missing: msi.dll file I'm actually trying to uninstall Java version 6: 64 bit and 32 bit on my laptop. I can't uninstall and I can't reinstall due to this error. I've tried to fix with JAVARA patch, but that didn't work. It seems to me that I may need to fix the MS Installer file.

Oct 22, 2009I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I'm trying to upgrade to 7. I bought the college copy so I only have the download, no DVD.
When I get to like 10% of installation I get error 0x80070241, and it says that a file is corrupted or missing and installation cannot continue.
I know everyone hates n00bs who ask questions that have already been answered, and I did google this first (and call Microsoft), but the results I found on google went right over my head and Microsoft was not helpful at all (I shot them off an e-mail thinking I might get better service that way, but they haven't responded yet.)
Anyway, what can I do? I really really want Vista off my computer but it like refuses to die lol.

Mar 26, 2011I cannot boot into Windows because it says that the file /boot/BCD is missing with an error code of 0x0000007. If I run Repair from my installation disk and in System Recovery Options, it says that it has detected problems and asks if I want to repair it. The items it wants to repair are: " The following startup option will be repaired:Name: {bootmgr}Identifier: {9DEA862C-5CDD-4E70-ACC1-F32B344D4795}
The following startup options will be added:

A copy of the current boot configuration data will be saved as C:BootBCD.Backup.0002"If I click yes, it says that it cannot save the current settings for the BCD and refuses to continue. When I choose Startup Repair, it attempts to fix the problem but fails.
The problem details are:
Root cause found:
No OS files found on disk.
Repair action: Partition table repair
Result: Failed. Error code: 0x3bc3
I think that this is because Startup Repair is trying to fix the thumbdrive that I keep my Windows 7 install files in. I am overseas now and as my computer does not have an internal optical disk drive and my external drive is back home, thus using my thumbdrive is the only way to access the repair console.
I tried running a few commands, namely:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Fixmbr and fixboot work, but when I run RebuildBCD, it detects C:Windows as having a Windows installation, but if I type Y(yes) or A(all), it says that the requested system device cannot be found.

Sep 2, 20111. Same computer in my signature/specs except for the optical drive.
2. Hardware passes Windows 7 compatibility test.
3. The install DVD can be read properly. Creating an ISO image of it works perfectly. No read errors on the disk itself.
4. The optical drive is practically brand new, the cable is brand new, never had any I/O errors using this drive.
5. RAM passes MS memory testing 6 times. 0 errors.
6. Windows 7 Ultimate install fails at the same point, during file unpacking, 3 times. Says files are missing or corrupt.
The install disk was created at home from an ISO download, student licensed Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit but I don't think that really matters. See #3.Is there anything else left to look at? Any ideas why this won't work?

So i bought Windows 7 Home Premium from the same store i got this at (Webhallen, pretty much swedens largest component retailer) to replace the standard Home edition (which i got with my "old" packard bell!).
I have 2 HDDs, one from the packard bell (1tb) and one i recieved from a friend, a 320gb seagate. I ran with both in my packard bell for a while, using the 320gb for the system. It ran without any problems.So, i boot the CD, go through the setup and format the 320GB. (I also formatted some reserved space for OEM files from the Packard bell harddrive since i won't be using the packard bell any time soon).I proceed with the installation.The copying of the files goes very quick and when it reaches the expanding of files it takes ages before it finally comes to the error:Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017.Immedieatly i whipped up the laptop and googled it, trying the different "sollutions" to no avail, like simply trying to install again without rebooting, taking out a RAM stick and only running with one in the master slot, taking out all excess Harddrives etc etc. i also ran Memtest86, clean, no errors!
I tried install Ubuntu on it, but that didn't go well either. It loaded for ages and then i got a very strange horizontal black and white striped screen, the black stripes being jagged and pixelated.I found my old windows 7 home cd from my packard bell and tried installing with that one. Same result, Error code: 0x80070017.

Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that . The problem is after the system restore every time Vegas launches i get a error : Sony Vegas pro 10 an error occurred starting Vegas Pro Error 0x80070002 (message missing).

Jul 9, 2012Recently a popup box has started to appear when I logon that informs me that file nuneco.dll is missing/can't be found. I have not noticed any programs being affected but its just really annoying I also want to try and fix this before anything detrimental does happen as I use this system for my business. I don't remember doing anything major or installing anything before this started happening which is why I am hving trouble locating the cause of the problem.Any suggestions? Feb 28, 2012Yesterday my system had a BSOD when i wasn't home and my wife just restarted the my PC. When i got home about 4 hours later i had another BSOD but did not have time to see what it was. Now my system wont boot into windows. Trying to use start-up repair does nothing since it tells me that the error is that the registry is corrupt but it can't fix it. something like rollback registry failed corrupt registry. So i goggled the issue and tried everything that i could find from the windows 7 forums. used command prompt to search for my drive but i can't find it (windows is in C: drive but it doesn't show up only my external HDD and CD drive shows up. Tried using windows 7 installation CD to repair but it can't save the changes because there is no hard drive with windows operating system installed. Checked my bios yesterday and my internal hdd was still showing up in bios but it was like the 3rd in line to be used for booting. tried restoring from a system image and it wont let me because windows can't find a windows operating system to restore. i unplugged all my cables except for my HDD and tried booting it only to go back into repair start-up screen but i can't do anything there also. Tried doing sfc/scan now but it says a repair is in process and that i need to repair and reset to use that command, same goes for all other commands like bootmgr and so on. My brother in-law says that it may be because i have bad drivers so i updated them with a usb using windows installation load drivers but nothing happens then he said that back in the past there were issues with 6gb sata cables and certain HDD so i pulled out an old 3gbs sata cable and still can't boot. changed ports nothing happens can't even boot to safe mode to scan the drive. umm... can't do a fresh install because windows doesn't see the drive so now.when i turn on my pc my internal HDD is not being shown in the bios could it be that my HDD was dying and now is dead? Aug 16, 2012My computer recently began to give me bsod and would not detect external devices, i.e. external hard drives, wireless adapters, and other usb devices. The issue windows gave me as the cause was that these devices did not have digital signatures. After online research and a trip to the geek squad, I determined that all of my hardware was in perfect working order. I tried to remove and re-install my copy of windows 7 64 bit ultimate but found that my disk was, despite being unscathed, unreadable and unusable.
I found several articles about creating a bootable USB drive with an ISO of the disk. I have the ISO on my laptop and have been trying to get my USB to operate on the desktop, which due to blue screens and automatic restarts gave me no recourse but to wipe it completely. As I stand now I have partitioned the USB drive as fat32 after doing a cmd prompt cleaning and have loaded the iso on using several different programs including the official Microsoft USB creator. All but one have produced the same error saying "error loading operating system" when booting from just the USB. The only program to produce a different result was YUMI which loaded a program that launches on start up and gives me the option to use the Windows 7 ISO but then produces another error saying "Error 27: Unrecognized Command"
Have I missed something in the formatting process or does the fact that the Windows USB creator re formats the USB as NTFS before every ISO upload mean that I cannot load my copy of Windows 7 this way?
