Just wondering if I need to download and install these INF files that are an
update for my MSI Mo Bo? It says this:

If so, where would I put them as I have not found any other .INF files
(w/o searching hidden/system files).

Intel is making available for testing its preproduction WDDM1.1 graphics driver, enabling the full Windows 7 experience. The driver is the result of an ongoing collaboration with Microsoft to provide OEMs and developers with drivers that deliver all of the required WDDM1.1 features for Windows 7. As a result of the collaboration, OEMs and beta users can stay in step with Windows 7 prereleases for smooth product development.
To explain the jargon, drivers are the link between hardware and Windows, while WDDM is Windows’ Display Driver Model, the overall system for graphics drivers that was introduced in Vista and continued in Windows 7.
OEMs are Original Equipment Manufacturers: in other words, firms which make computer parts (or entire machines) that are then usually sold on by other manufacturers.
In short, the announcement means Intel is taking serious steps to make sure its chips work properly in Windows 7. If there are any problems, it wants plenty of time to sort them out before the official release.
The announcement is also a sign that Microsoft promises to do a better job of working with hardware firms to ensure driver compatibility are being followed through. Many manufacturers complained that they didn't have enough notice of driver requirements for Vista, which led to incompatibility.
And while a few such problems might have seen the device producers blamed for shoddy work, the Vista issues were so widespread that the operating system itself bore the brunt of most public discontent. So Microsoft has as much, if not more motivation to avoid such problems this month.
Of course, Intel is such a major player that Microsoft has to keep it happy (witness the debacle over Intel chips which weren't ‘Vista capable). The real test is whether Microsoft gives the same level of timely cooperation to smaller manufacturers."

The first thing that you should try is to connect using the wired network and apply all updates. It's possible that a driver may have been added that was not part of the retail package (this certainly happens with printers).
The second thing that you should be aware of is that there are a number of different chipsets used for the wireless network in the Inspiron so the following link may or may not help. (A solution is given in the last but one post.)

On my Lenovo W510 laptop I'm currently using the 14.1.1 PROSET drivers from Intel's website for my Centrino Ultimate 6300 wireless adapter. Lenovo just released new drivers on their web site with 14.02.0000. Going off of numbering the 14.1.1 drivers are obviously latest although I have seen that whatever drivers are made for Lenovo are always a little different (features and such). In this case is it better to go off of the laptop manufacturer's drivers (even though they are a lower number and seemingly older) or the wireless manufacturer's page (Intel).

With the old discontinued Intel drivers, which were only made for XP.
(The only one I'm sure works, since it's the only one I have tested, is the 845G Series chipset drivers, mine is the 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV rubbish.)

However when I tried installing 64 bit RC1, there wasn't any driver included and it showed up in device manager as "Standard VGA adapter". I've been looking around but the only 64 bit driver I found for this card only works for XP, and 7 refuses to install it. Any help?

I've got a problem when I start my laptop ( medion akoya ) after windows start up, the screen stays black & takes a while to display my desktop. I have a Dell workstation (Precision 670) with a single Xeon Irwindale 3.4 GHz and I installed windows 7 x64. I am ok with all of my devices, some drivers are windows 7, my wireless adaptor is a vista driver that works fine, and the rest are Microsoft generic (chipset etc). I tried to intsall the latest intel inf using -OVERWRITE but it didn't update anything from the E7525 related devices. I know this chipset is old but its the first time that a Windows 7 instalation gives me worst benchmarks compared to XP even with generic chipset drivers.Anyway the thing I would like to ask is if anyone knows in what OS did they stop the support for E7525, so if it is Vista I could try to use the Vista drivers in some way... Intel gives no info, they just have one single file for 5 OS's and 40 chipsets
